For a Friday night around 6:30 the restaurant was quite busy but we were able to get seated right away. I would highly recommend you order your drink and appetizer through the virtual menu on table as it comes faster. The lighting and music are a perfect ambiance to a nice dinner date or family dinner. We started off dinner w the Fried Mozzarella appetizer which was just perfect! I just love the cheese that stretches and stretches, key is to pull quickly to break the cheese. Of course you can never go wrong w the Chicken & Gnocchi soup as a starter either! I also tried the Desert Pear Limonata, it was a little too sparkling for me. My fiancé ordered the chicken & shrimp carbonara which is one of my top favorites! Just the right amount of chicken, shrimp, and pasta! I was daring and decided to try a new platter called Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo. I ordered it with no seasoning as I don't do ground pepper and no bleu cheese as I don't care for that either. It was a very good choice and is now in my top favorites list. The black tie mousse cake my fiancé had looked really good but I can never pass up my most favorite dessert of all- Tiramisu!! Met up with family for dinner recently. Wife and I arrived before others and was seated. When rest of group arrived and seated with us, it appears there was a shift change and we sat without a waiter. When notified, the manager came to our table and apologized profusely and provided an appetizer to the table. Food is quite good and the staff bent over backwards to make up for their error. Ambiance is nice and very clean. Staff is friendly and eager to please. If you like pasta, give Olive Garden a try. read more

Service was horrible. Multiple times asked the waiters to clear the excess plates and such from the table. They did not. Waiter did not come back for 20 mins after food was served. No drink refills or offers to do so. However once the bills were set on the table, the waiter had no problem standing and waiting to take it back. The salad was great. The chicken and shrimp carbonara pasta was hot and delicious. The hostess and server were helpful and polite. The hostess noticed the sun was in our eyes and lowered the shades. We will definitely come back. read more

On February 13th, some friends picked up and delivered a couple of meals for my wife and myself. (She has cancer as is recovering from the latest chemo). We ordered a crispy chicken alfredo, and a shrimp alfredo. We are big fans and supporters of Olive Garden as a whole, but we have noticed that in the take-out alfredo's, they are not overly generous with the alfredo sauce, so they are a little dry. This was even more true with the meals on the 13th. I ended up throwing away half of my chicken alfredo, but my wife ate about a third of hers and saved the rest. So, on the next day, she wanted hers warmed up, but it really needed more sauce, so I drove to the restaurant and explained the situation with the meals, and asked about some extra alfredo sauce for her meal. I half expected for them to offer me a replacement meal in addition to the extra alfredo sauce (and I was prepared to be gracious and turn that offer down), but instead they sold me a small container of sauce for $4.80. Okay, whatever... So, I waited 15 minutes for that container. Finally someone brought it out from the kitchen (I had went to the take-out area). I walked out, and the container felt light, so I checked, and it was not even half full. For the price I paid for that, I went back and asked it to be filled. She seemed reluctant to do that, but agreed to. Not a great example of good customer service, which we had gotten used to. It was a pretty disappointing experience on several levels. read more

Service was good. Salad was soggy, lasagna was day old reheated pasta with a lot of additional meat sauce and cheese melted on top, very disappointed tasted like store bought frozen lasagna, only worse. Wife had Seaford, scallops were about the size of a pencil eraser. All in all, would not recommend. read more

The new Olive Garden down on SE 14th is a lovely facility! We made the drive when the WDM one had over an hour wait. We got seated here within 5 min. Service, staff, and food were phenomenal. Food was amazing as always. The interior is very cute and feels clean. It definitely has that new vibe as it just opened earlier this year. read more

I am beyond excited that Olive Garden has made it to the South Side of Des Moines! We were seated quickly upon arrival. The hostess was friendly but quiet. Our waitress Ebony was attentive and extremely nice. She gave us several options for drinks and appetizers to choose from. She was patient with us as we looked over the menu and took our order flawlessly. Our food came out a bit quickly. Our salad arrived first with breadsticks. Those are so warm and yummy!  Our appetizer came out shortly thereafter, which I would have preferred it wait just a bit. Our entries came out with much better timing shortly after we finished our appetizer. I ordered the ravioli carbonara with sautéed shrimp. The sauce was creamy and had amazing bacon flavor. So much food!  We ended up bringing half of our entrees home. It's definitely a welcome change to the south side! read more

The southside has a new stand alone restaurant off the southeast corridor with easy access on and off. The parking lot is spacious and the menu has comparable prices for a national chain$$. I attended a soft opening before the opening date. At the front entrance were warm and friendly greeters to welcome you. The assigned hostess escorted you to a very bright and well spaced area with upscale decor. My server, Cheyanne was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested a variety of delicious options. The chef gave life to each dish making it colorful and eye appealing. My Alfredo Fettuccine was well seasoned with heaping piles of tender chicken. My plate was so full-- I needed a take home dish. The family friendly atmosphere and the menu is full of options for all to enjoy. read more

Soft opening and free food!? Heck yea! Several obvious managers running around helping to keep everything organized. Staff was very friendly and food was excellent! I sincerely hope they can continue this caliber of restaurant in the future. I can't wait to have the leftovers. I will miss the top notch breadsticks to go with tho. read more

Checked in using the app. Arrived on time and checked in per Olive Garden instructions. Clueless guy checking guests in couldn't find anything and said we'd need to get back on the waitlist. Naturally we refused and left. A few minutes later the app emailed me my table was ready. You've lost me as a customer. read more

We went on a Saturday afternoon and received great service. It would be nice if it was quieter but other than that, I couldn't ask for more.

My experience at the new olive garden on the south side of Des Moines could have been a lot better. This is my experience. We got there and was told it was going to be a 20 minute wait for 2. ok it is what it is we waited. Escorted to our seats and the menus were tossed on to the table and walked away. We had 2 waiters must still be in training. They were pleasant to start with. They took our order I ordered the salmon / broccoli this cam with unlimited salad She had the build your pasta. Angle hair / mushroom sauce/ chicken which she got soup. The soup was pretty good, the salad didn't have any dressing on it. We also got an shrimp vegetable appetizer that was pretty good. When we got our main course I had to stop for a minute because when they put my plate in front of me I had gotten a bad smell of something. The servers left the table and I asked my date if she had smelled anything. She nodded and said it was bad body odor, ( like someone had to work a double shift possibly ). So we were eating our main course and my salmon was very dry like over cooked, the broccoli was typical steamed but still a bit to raw. Her pasta was cooked well, the mushroom sauce wasn't enough of it the sliced chicken was pounded out very flat and breaded. The chicken was cooked very well done and very dry and not good no taste no flavor. While eating our dinner I had noticed that the must be manger was walking around talking larger groups of dinners asking them if everything was ok. She had talked to a group next to our table and a lady there had said it was her birthday. The manger lady said "well then you need to look at our deserts as we give people a birthday dessert for free when it is their birthday day." Then she left. Over hearing it was someone else birthday I said happy birthday to her. My date also told her that it was my birthday as well. The lady dinner said " I will tell them you say something too, you will get a free dessert." I herd the lady say something to the server ( that also was our server) then the server shortly after came to our table and asked if we needed anything else and my date said yes we ordered a strawberry cheese cake quite a while ago on the little computer thing and have not received it, also it is his birthday today. She said ok I will go check on it right now. She brought the cheese cake to us shortly after and did not offer it for free so I got more upset. The cheese cake was pretty good the strawberry sauce was very running and not very tasty ( the sauce could have been a thicker reduction with mashed strawberry's in it ). After a bit being done with the cheese cake no one came back to us so we used the computer thing at the table and paid the bill and sat and talked for a bit finishing out appetizer. It was then I noticed the lady manger stop our server and say something to her and point our direction. ( I told my date that our server was going to come ask us if we need anything, Because the manager knows the bill was paid and we were still sitting here. ) The server then came to our table and did just that asked if there was something wrong we notice your bill was paid. It was then I just couldn't take any more. I said yes there is It is my birthday as well as the nice lady at the next table. I was not offered anything even when we told you. The sever said she was sorry and said she would be right back. She came back said she talked to the manger about it and she said there was nothing they could do because we had already paid our bill. She said left me get you dessert any way I said ok and she got me another cheese cake and we left still very unhappy about the experience. read more
