Food is usually good, rice has been over cooked 3-4 times. service varies. I go at least once a month & valentine's day was my last time dining there. The last couple of times i have been very dissatisfied with service, & food. Our dinner usually averages $70-90, depending on if we get an appetizer. Valentine's day it was $106 for OUR USUAL, i asked the manger if something else had accidentally been charged and she informed me AND I QUOTE "the owners strategically changed the prices on the 13th bc they knew they would be busy" so i asked the owner or whoever & she tells me "they would never do that" I personally don't think the manager would lie. & money is not an issue it's just the way everything was handled! they've also "upgraded"the restaurant to make it seem more boujee, (they just painted the walls, & play club music at the hibachi so loud you have to yell at your table mates to have a conversation! sushi is great but i personally will not be dining in with them again read more

I came with my family for a celebration and we all ordered at the same time but one order was taking a while to come out and we were proceeded to be told that that part of the order was cut off on the paper. After being told that the server went back to fix it, while waiting the rest of us ate and by the time we finished they still hadn't brought out the order,we ended up getting the receipt before the food ever came out and then we asked the server what could be done about the food that took forever to come out he went to ask his manager and she didn't even come out to talk to us and had the server tell us if we didn't wanna pay for the food then we couldn't take it. We asked the server if he could get the manager and she once again told them to tell us that she wouldn't be coming out to talk. In the end we waited about 2 1/2 hours for that food to come out and it was cold. Also for anyone wondering it was for 2 simple Golden California rolls while the rest of us, party of 6, got more complexed meals and rolls, we did end up leaving the food and not paying for those 2 rolls. Also would like to say the server was not at fault he tried his best to try and fix what he could fix, I would say this falls on the manger for not being able to manage and not having any form of customer service. read more

The food was disappointing. The chicken was tough and dry and had no teriyaki flavor. And there was no teriyaki dipping sauce. The rice was undercooked and hard. They were understaffed and Lacy was the only server for three tables but she did a good job anyway. There was only one chef to take care of the three tables too. The chef was entertaining and made the it a fun experience. We have been here several times before and everything was great. We definitely caught them on a bad night. This used to be the best sushi and hibachi around. This visit was not as great. The place was clean I will give it that. But we used to get good portions for the price. The sushi I got eel roll and dragon roll was bland. I hate to say I've had better from HEB. My guest hibachi was small in portion. He ordered the fried rice and he referenced it to the rice you get from panda express. It had very small egg pieces and that's it. I tasted it and it was like browned white rice. It was my first time at the restaurant visiting a friend. I enjoyed the food and the hibachi experience. The person cooking the food did a great job of keeping us entertained. I feel like the food was cooked really quickly as well. I had the fried rice and chicken and shrimp (unpictured). I forgot to take pictures of the food. Wow is all I can say and NOT in a good way!! For the past few years, this is where the family joins to take our mother-in-law on the Saturday of Mother's Day, weekend. and this year we had an ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE experience. We were a party of 12 so the near hour wait was expected, but after being seated, the waitress did not arrive to take our drink orders until 26 minutes later and then arrived with them after another 12 minutes.( we still kept positive vibes as you see the smiles in the pic attached). She then took our food orders and we waited another 40 minutes before the cook who she said was "only waiting on her to give him the order slip" finally arrived. He had NO personality (did not greet us, say his name or smile). did not have enough food for the orders,, and his food of choice for the "toss and catch" was rice!! Excuse me, but who wants rice spilled all over their clothes? SMH....also, he disregarded the notation on the order slip, as well as, verbally being reminded by family members of their food allergy to shrimp yet he proceeded to cook the meats together and use the same utensils. We did complain and were "gifted" 6 egg-rolls LoL and a discount of approx 5%!! My wife and me eat there once a year at least sometimes more depending. We have never once had a bad time there nor has the food been bad. My wife loves the Tiger rolls and I love the sashimi there. Every time we go we are always visited by one of the chefs and get extra food that they were cooking in the back that's not on the menu. We visited this restaurant for the first time, with someone who had been there before. The food was very good, served in very large portions. The service, however, was spotty. I ordered hot tea, and I didn't get it until the food was delivered and had to ask for it again. Also, everyone else's soup was brought out, but I had to ask twice for mine. I had to flag the waitress down to request more tea, and it never came. When she brought the bill out, she seemed surprised that I still wanted more tea. By the time she finally returned the credit card, the children with us had become quite restless. Don't let the fact that this Japanese restaurant is in a small east Texas town fool you! The food here rivals many much more expensive restaurants in the big city! The lunch crowd can be hectic, the evenings are much more laid back and relaxing. The menu selections are varied. With many locally "themed" rolls, but all the mainstream rolls are represented as well. The fish is nice and fresh...ask about options not on the menu, as there is fresh options offered daily. The hibachi grill offers a family friendly option for entertainment, with many dishes offered at the hibachi grill only. But the true test is the sashimi... fish as fresh as can be had without being within spitting distance of the ocean. The chefs choice platters are a great start, but as you learn what you like you do have the option of ordering each morsel separately. In Japan is not McDonalds, so bring at least 100 bucks so you don't sell yourself short. Eating here can be addicting, so plan your trips through East Texas accordingly! read more
