Wanted to try this park because it has such great reviews. Went in the morning and was surprised to see so many dogs, yay! That was my initial response. It's just me and my small(15 lbs) dog. He's extremely chill, friendly, and we've never had any problems at any other dog parks. When we tried to get in, there was a dog barking and sniffing at the gate where you walk in. She didn't seem too aggressive but I didn't want her to get out, so I waited for the owner. The owner came over and called her name, got them away enough so I could open the gate and walk in. I was kinda distracted and starting to take my dog's leash off when the other dog lunged, barked, and snapped at my dog immediately after we entered. My dog was whining and scared, I had to pick him up physically and bring him more into the park because there were so many dogs surrounding us and no one was stepping in. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt so I decided to stay. The woman left right after and she talked with a gentleman on the outside of the gate. I heard her say something like "I'm always worried about new dogs coming in" and "She can sense my stress" implying her dog has reactivity issues. And she was expecting something to happen but didn't physically pick up her dog. It's an off-leash public park so dogs should ideally be comfortable with new arrivals. My dog was chill and friendly the rest of the time, but I followed him because I felt the other owners being very inconsiderate. Then another dog consistently followed my dog and tried to hump him and I kept having to get in the middle. This dog was significantly bigger than mine and I could tell my dog was uncomfortable but the owner sat on the bench and did nothing. This was honestly when I grew too frustrated and decided to leave. I also noticed a large dog jump over the fence into the parking lot while I was there. The park itself is clean and spacious, but supervision and owner awareness seemed inconsistent during my visit. I may return at a quieter time, but small-dog owners may want to stay especially alert. read more

Let's just start with the general pros and cons of this dog park -- Pros: - plenty of parking - two sections separating large dogs and small dogs - turf & dirt - benches to sit - waste bags and trash cans provided Cons - flying bugs/gnats - doesn't have many dogs the times I've gone I usually go to the Wildcatters dog park in Brea but decided to come here with my dog today for the first time in at least a year around 9:15am. I went to the small dog park and saw a group of people sitting down in the shaded benches talking to each other. I could tell they were all friends or acquaintances that regularly frequent the park so I sat by myself to the side to just watch my dog play. There were about 5 other dogs there. I picked up my dog's poop but saw at least 2-3 piles of poop from other dogs that had not been picked up. I was just sitting there when a cute little black/brown furry dog came up to me to sniff me and my pants. I didn't pet him but naturally I gently put my hand out for him to sniff me and get comfortable but he suddenly lashed out and bit my hand. It was hard enough to make me scream and break my skin to cause it to bleed. I looked around and no one batted an eye. I decided to get up and leave with my dog but before leaving, I went up to the group and asked if anyone knew whose dog it was. One of the ladies responded "oh, he's mine. Did he bite you?" I responded "yes, he did" and she was like "oh... yeah he bites" ... okay, what??? The other two ladies were sitting there nonchalantly and asked if the bite broke skin, and I told them it did and that I was bleeding. The biting dog's owner had to go to her car to get a first aid kit. I wanted to leave but thought that was the least she could do. She proceeded to tell me that her dog has brain damage and probably saw my hand as a shadow and a threat and that he was a rescue that was abused in the past. She also mentioned that 99% of people who come to that dog park know that her dog bites. And that she should have mentioned it to me but she was talking and got distracted. And not to worry because her dog is up to date with all his shots. Oh, and that the first aid kit in her car is so well equipped and it better be because it came with her $80K car. Literally everything that came out of her mouth missed the point that she should NOT be having her dog out in public areas ESPECIALLY unsupervised. As an expecting mother, I also got really nervous thinking about any children that might come to this park and get bitten just for innocently wanting to play with a cute dog. I did report this to OC Animal Care but please come here, or any dog park in general, at your own risk. You'd think people wouldn't bring their dogs to a dog park if they know it bites but not everyone has common sense. I'm just glad it was me and not my dog because that would have been an incoming lawsuit. read more

To the people who frequently visit this dog park in 2026: I've been bringing my dog, Chemi (a male Rottweiler), to Olive Hills Dog Park because he has friends here and the park itself is nice. You may know me or my dog. What stands out about this dog park is not just occasional dog conflicts, but the clear double standard in how they are judged. My dog has been approached, challenged, and provoked multiple times by other dogs (including a Golden Retriever and a Husky). Each time, there is always an explanation--"he doesn't like certain dogs," or "he's just asserting dominance." However, when my dog responds defensively, the tone immediately shifts. Suddenly, it becomes about his breed. For context: Chemi has never initiated a fight. What makes this worse is the attitude from some regulars. Instead of looking at situations objectively, there is a strong sense of bias and group mentality. If you truly care about dogs, then be objective. Don't hide behind selective excuses while labeling others based on breed stereotypes. Also, for those who rely on assumptions about Rottweilers: They are guard dogs, not fighting dogs. They are certainly not guaranteed to "win" conflicts just because of their breed. Reputation does not equal reality. If you are genuinely concerned, do some research instead of projecting fear or bias. For people old enough to be my parents (even grandparents), I would expect a level of understanding and objectivity-- rather than making unfounded judgments and reacting with dismissive, immature attitudes toward my dog without even looking at the full situation and the complete history. Behavior like a Mean Girls clique at this age is, frankly, embarrassing. read more

The small dog area has a part that is sunken (near the entrance) and is infamous for ghost poops. It's the turd graveyard. The park provides a plethora of poop bags and a physical pooper scooper. This is one of my fave off leash dog parks. There are two separate areas for small dogs and large dogs. There are also a few obstacle courses throughout. As far as the terrain, it's a mix of dirt and turf. I prefer real grass, but it's a good mix. There's ample parking and benches for the humans. read more

Before you bring your dog to the dog park: Is your dog trained? Do you have good recall? Is your dog socialized? Is your dog vaccinated? If you answered no to any of these - DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO A DOG PARK. I cannot tell you how quick a nice day at the dog park comes to a halt when an untrained and unsocialized dog decides to start a fight and bite another dog. Or ends up ruining a trained dog and causing them to have fear of other dogs due to the trauma of being attacked by an aggressive/untrained dog. Also, don't bring a sick dog to the park just to get the rest sick, or bring an unvaccinated dog - you're putting all our dogs at risk including your own. Your dog bites my dog, I promise YOU will be paying for the expensive vet bill if he sustains any injury. I am sick of bad dog owners thinking they can just release their untrained & aggressive dogs into a dog park - and funny enough they always say how their dog doesn't like other dogs/certain dogs or sometimes even people - if that's the case DO NOT BRING THEM. YOU WILL BE CALLED OUT AND HELD ACCOUNTABLE IF YOUR DOG CAUSES A INCIDENT. I don't care how small and cute your dog is - it doesn't mean they don't bite and cause harm - small dogs need training just like big dogs! Beware of bad owners and stick close to your dog just in case to protect them. The last five times I been here I've had a bad experience 3/5 of the times with aggressive small dogs in the small dog area that attack my dog as soon as we enter the park. There has been an aggressive female corgi (attacked 2x), a white mini poodle (attacked 1x), and an orange/white chihuahua (attacked 1x). My dog would literally just be sitting next to me and these dogs would see him from the other side of the field - run over- and immediately have a growling fit and start biting him. Now my dog cowers between my legs every-time I enter the park because of them - not coming back and putting my dog in danger due to these negligent people. Want to socialize your dog? Train them - a dog park is for already socialized dog - not a training ground to socialize. read more

This is a cute little park. We first came here when Citra was a tiny puppy, about 4 years ago. She wasn't into it at all, so we never went back. Our new guy, Truffle, is very into going out and doing things, so we thought he would like it here. He is a huge lover of humans, but doesn't care much for other dogs, aside from his "sisters" at home. He does alright here, but he's honestly more interested in greeting the pet owners than making new 4-legged friends. He keeps to himself and sniffs around the entire place multiple times. He typically gets over it in about 30 minutes, but it's nice to have a different place for him to run around instead of our yard. Everybody here is always really friendly. It's quite clean, I rarely see a mess that somebody didn't pick up. It's nice that they supply bags for when we forget them. I do wish there was more shade, it can get pretty brutal on the small dog side on hot days. Happy this nice dog park is so close to home, it's a good quick outing for our dogs to get some energy out! read more

This used to be our "go to" park for our 2 cattle dogs. Now I beg you to be vigilant with your dog's health and safety if you go there. I don't know where else to post this. Our dogs were playing at Olive Hills on 4/28/25 from 2-3pm. It was a normal, uneventful visit... both boys fine... until one of our dogs started walking funny and throwing up. A lot. 8 times over the next half hour. We thought he just ate something gross and got a ton of sand in his mouth from running around because all the little brown sandy flecks in it. After about 10 min at home, I found him upstairs laying on the floor, whimpering and unable to move. We rushed him to the hospital. He was in severe anaphylactic shock. Over the next 4 hours he started bleeding out from all holes and his organs shut down. Nothing worked. Multiple Epi doses, antibiotics, all the things. Nothing worked. He was suffering. My Bear went into cardiac arrest, could no longer breath on his own and his heart stopped. My baby boy died in our arms in the ICU that night. Something at that park killed our dog. This was no bee sting gone wrong. Whatever he touched or ate was insanely fast, aggressive, and destroyed his insides. Our other cattle dog was fine. Did someone leave behind some kind of chemical, poison, or drugs? What did he step on, lick, or touch? We'll never know. If you're dog gets sick there, post it. The city and our neighbors need to know, deserve to know. Hug your fur babies. Do your best to keep them safe. Something at that park killed my Bear. And we're devastated read more

When we are in a new town we research dog parks for our awesome girl Nova. I like this place. Yes, there's sometimes a lot of poop along the fences but I tell my family we need to leave places better than were, so we pick up a least a bag of poop from each of us while Nova plays with the other awesome dogs. Nova loves this place! It's large and has two sections. She technically could do both small (she's so skinny) and big. She loves both sides. This place is great. read more

We came on a Saturday morning in November two weeks before the thanksgiving holiday and there wasn't another dog in sight! Unfortunate since we kind of wanted some socialization time for the pup. Through the park there were some poo that were not picked up. I went around and scooped it with the broom and pan that they have - overall there weren't too many but I think I cleaned up to 7 piles. Many benches and some shade, but only one bench in the shade. The one bench in the shade leans in such a way as to be uncomfortable. Bring your own chair if you want to be in the shade. Separate small dog and large dog areas. Small dogs is much smaller. Agility equipment. Artificial turf doesn't need watering but can get very hot. There are trees. Today was my dogs first visit to a dog park. This one is fabulous. It's clean and spacious. It has both a small dog (25 lbs and under) and a large dog park. It has both sun and shade. There are Benches for the humans and obstacles for the dogs. There is sand and artificial turf. It's a very nice place. I can see myself spending much time there with a novel and my dog. It is safe and enclosed well. The people and dogs that were there were all very nice and cared for each others dogs. I'll be a regular here! Yelp says they are closed Sunday, but that's not true. They are open Sunday; today is Sunday. The provoke I spoke to today said that they are always open; the gates are never locked, day or night. read more

This park is amazing for all dogs. I do like the fact that it's split in half where the big dogs (+25lbs) and small dogs (-25lbs) have their down playground. The location has some minor obstacles so dogs can do tricks, but that's about it. It would be nice if they would to clean up the water fountains for the dogs as it's super dirty. However do like that the park has free bags for people to pick up after their doggies. Overall it's a nice park, with lots of space for your pup to roam around and enjoy their time. It's worth it, plus people that go are always so friendly. read more

This is my favorite dog park to take my dog to! I like coming here because it's hidden in a pleasant little neighborhood and it's clean. Most other dog parks such as the one in Irvine and Costa Mesa get way too crowded. The reason why I like coming to this dog park is because it doesn't get too crowded and there's a decent amount of dogs in the small dogs/big dogs area. This place is awesome. I brought my dog Chico not knowing what to expect; I was actually terrified because I had never let him off the leash (especially because he's a Beagle!). His scent of smell makes it very difficult to focus when there are other dogs. But he did great. I love the fact that the park is divided into two sections: dogs under 25 lbs and dogs over 25 lbs. Chico is 26lbs. Guess where he wanted to go? He wanted to play with the big boys. On our first visit, he was definitely the underdog. All of the dogs that day were over 50lbs easily. On our second visit, we were fortunate and this time the majority of dogs were between 25 and 40 lbs so Chico seemed to enjoy himself better this time with other dogs his size. I've met a few dog owners here. Most of them are pretty cool people and like me are not super strict on COVID regulations. I kind of would assume that. I mean, if you go to the dog park you are kind of obliged to be a little more flexible. It's sort of inevitable. I mean dogs are literally sniffing each other and at times you have to attend to your dog if you know what I mean. About 90 % of the people are not wearing masks. I don't see it as a bad thing. It's not like we're hugging here. The owners are minding their own business and being respectful and polite with each other and with your pet. Of course if your dog gets out of line and falls in love with another dog, most likely your dog will be pushed away (gently) by the owner. So if you don't want anyone to gently push your dog if it gets a little too excited (especially if your dog isn't neutered) keep a close watch. I have no complaints about this park. I actually look forward to continue coming to this park. I personally bring a beach chair and sit under a tree (with nice shade and breeze) to read while my dog runs with the pack. I love this park. What a great dog park! There are several in Orange County, but for design and upkeep - this one is the Taj Mahal of Dog Parks! The clean (fake?) grass, the kind of weedsy area (my dog's favorite as there are lots of good smells there), the water bowls and even a lot level drinking fountain which to my amazing, my dog drank from when I turned it for him. What made this park though are the people. Easy to talk with and they made me and my dog feel welcome for the first time. Since the park is new, the tree's aren't fully grown yet so not a lot of shade, but that didn't deter the neighbors from bringing their own lawn chairs and umbrellas. I went on a Monday and it wasn't very crowded, but it there were a good number of dogs there. My dog was a little nervous at first, he's not the social butterfly of the neighborhood, but I think a few more trips and he'll get to know the regular's and become one of the pack. read more

I legit LOVE this park. And I speak for my dog as well when I say that. Went to the Anaheim parks and this really is the better one of them all. It's large, has nice hills and dips for the dogs (which mine adores), and the people are great. Literally my first day there a group of dog parents were super friendly to us. Parking - can be a bit rough when coming at busy hours, but outside of those, it's decent. Maintenance - I can sort of understand why people would say there's poop around. The other dog owners have a very close-knot community so they come and socialize as well as the dogs play and will most likely miss their dog pooping if they're in deep conversation. I personally walk near-ish around my dog so I can at least have an eye out for that. And if I see some poop lying around, I'll be a homie and pick it up as well. Other than that, this park is VERY well maintained, including the human restroom. Overall, this park is worth driving further to just to see my dog super happy. read more

I give it 4 stars but could be 5. This is quite possibly the nicest dog park I've ever been to. It's pretty much a free playground for your pup. PROS: It's so clean! The park is divided into two; small dogs & big dogs. They've left tennis balls out for the pups and they've made little playgrounds too; one to climb, one see-saw and one to jump over. It's very cute! There are so many hills and it makes it fun for them to run around. CONS: I don't like the fake grass. My pup pooped on the grass and when I picked it up it kind of just stayed there as much as I tried to clean it up. There is also no shade! Granted, the trees are still tiny and it'll take time but maybe they can add something else in the meantime? Will I come back? Of course! read more

I took my 4 month old corgi pup here for the first time this past weekend and we both loved it. Very well-maintained, with plenty of space to run around and poop bags and water fountain available for the dogs. I liked that there were two areas, one for 25 lb and under and one for bigger dogs. There are also plenty of benches for dog parents to sit on while their kids go play! Only downside is that the parking lot is pretty small so during peak hours it may be hard to find parking. read more

On a weekday morning this dog park wasn't crowded. There were 4-5 dogs in the big and small dog areas. It has some dog agility structures in addition to benches, water fountains, water bowls and waste bins for cleaning up after your dog. The park was clean but I saw one visitor taking it upon herself to make a sweep of the big dog area. Either her dog was pooping half a dozen times or she was cleaning up after others who hadn't. I estimate the approximate square footage of the big dog area to be well over a basketball court but under a football field. If you're looking to really let your big dog run long this probably isn't the place. For a medium sized dog it was fine. Everyone seemed friendly at the park. I saw no Ill mannered dogs or owners while I was there. The weather was pleasant but I noticed that there wasn't much shade in the big dog area. The small dog area seemed to have ample shade. There was parking next to the park. I didn't notice public restrooms. read more

Love this dog park. It's very clean and well-maintained. It has fake grass and gravel so it's considerably cleaner than more traditional grass parks where your dog can get muddy and gobble up grass. Oh and since it's fake grass it doesn't get overgrown like other parks where turds can lay hidden underneath like a dangerous turd mine field. It saves me from mistakenly stepping on any unwelcome surprises. I took my dog to the small dog area and the pet owners were all very respectful and attentive with their pets. There were no fights and any beginnings of a fight were quickly quelled by watchful owners. I love this! I will definitely be back with my dog. Cheers! read more

This is my Husband and I's favorite dog park. It is clean and the people and other dogs are friendly​. Owners are pretty good about keeping an eye on their dogs, with the exception of a few people who seem to be regulars. In those cases, I have no issues correcting other people's dogs if needed. My only criticism​ is that the small dog park needs shade. We have a baby pug who overheats easily, so it is difficult to take him as often as we want because​ of the constant sun exposure. read more

This park's high ratings genuinely perplex me because the poop littered throughout the space effectively renders it unusable. We visited the part set aside for large dogs, which has about three small plots of grass. The only plot that didn't feature an over abundance of poop was the central plot. The remainder of the park, comprised of sand and dirt, was filthy. So filthy that I can't imagine that it would be suitable for any kind of traditional dog play. Whether your dog prefers to engage with other dogs or chase after a toy, your dog will not easily navigate around the poop because it is so widespread. I regularly travel across states with my dogs and can confidently say that Olive Hill's condition stood out in a very unfortunate way. I found La Palma to be a far superior choice in nearly every regard later that day. Though many times larger larger, I rarely came across any unpicked poop in La Palma. It also has a steadier traffic of dogs, which is great for folks looking to socialize their dogs. And the mixture of grass and dirt across the field is more varied and natural. EDIT: Reading the more detailed reviews will give you a good sense about the values of folks who frequent this park. I am not the only person who found the park to be filthy and even positive reviews include stray comments that tacitly acknowledge this problem. Nevertheless, the positive reviews give undue praise for amenities typically found at parks in wealthier areas and take little issue with the apparent failure of visitors in cleaning up after their dogs. Instead, most negative remarks mentioned in these reviews seem to pertain to occasional dogs with undesirable--albeit not uncommon--behaviors. read more
