Decent dog park. The large and small dogs are separated into different play areas. Very spacious for the dogs to run and play. There are also a couple of water fountains for the dogs. La Palma Dog Park is a well-maintained dog park, as I haven't come across any litter or unpicked dog poop when I took my dog here. The small dog area is spacious enough - Panini had a great time with ten other dogs during one visit. I also like that there are trees in this dog park! It gives some shade and obstacles for them. I have a few reasons for why I gave this four stars. First, it's in a somewhat busy intersection in Anaheim. Lots of cars driving around, with honking and sirens in the background. Second, when it rains they close the park down for several days, even though the ground has clearly dried after a day out in the sun. I hope the city of Anaheim can be a bit faster next time I'm opening their park. Lastly, the parking. It's basically just side streets along a very busy road with cars that speed for no great reason (thank you California). The parking lot for La Palma park has been closed due to reconstruction, so it's very inconvenient. Parking becomes nonexistent on weekends when there is a game at the baseball field nearby. read more

There is enough space for the dogs to run around! I wish they had bowls for the water as well. They have the fountain but the pressure was too loud for my dog. I did like that they have two entrances to get in and out of the dog park. The big dog side is definitely bigger. read more

I personally love coming to this park late at night. I love that after 9pm it's usually died down so I can play 1 on 1 with my dog. One entrance is closed due to construction but there is another side with street parking very close by. I did see some feces lying around but it does happen I suppose. Nonetheless, We really enjoy our time here. The water is always working and poop bags are available! There is also no potholes so no need to worry about tripping or small puddles. read more

The dogs in this park are a bit ratchet. Ive been a few times and there are dogs without collars, owners without shoes or shirts. It was such a bizarre vibe, I didn't trust my dog would have a good time here. the park is divided into a big dog yard and small dog yard, but the small yard feels really narrow. there is also barely any parking or it's weird side street parking a bit away from the park. we tried just walking the regular park afterward and there were a number of unhoused individuals and i felt bad like i was disturbing their rest. based on some of these other reviews, i would be open to trying this park out again, but it just doesn't seem for us. read more

This dog park is SUPER spacious and the large dog park side is extra large. It's great for those dogs who just need to run a lot (but sucks when as the owner, you have to be somewhat nearby to see if they poop, so it's a workout). People are friendly and dogs seem to be as well. My only notes are that other than the very few spots in front of the park, it's street parking and can be dark when going at night. Also, this dog park is flat, compared to the other 2 great Anaheim dog parks that have hills and dips that dogs seem to love. Overall though, my dog was happy and that's what mattered. I don't care what anyone says, I love this dog park. PROS: It's divided into big dog/small dog park. It's taken care of, had grass, and most people that come here are friendly dog folks. There are 5 benches total in the small dog park and tons of trees for shade. They provide doggy bags and a water fountain for the pups. CONS: It's right across the street from a Goodwill and tons of homeless folks (with mental issues) are walking around all the time. Nope. After going this last Father's Day weekend I refuse to come here anymore. Poop on the sidewalk and watch where you step on the grass because there's poop there too. Very careless owners whom don't intervene when their dogs are bothering others. And the growing homeless in the park. There's so many people parked sitting in their cars. We even saw two people having sex in the middle of the day on a Sunday. Smh. This park is down the street from city hall and the police department how is this even allowed to happen? I stayed here for a good 45 mins,my dog and all the other dogs all got along well. My dog is very friendly and likes to greet other dogs and its owners. There was an issue with this one dog, I think he was territorial and did not like the fact that my dog greeted his owner. He was almost ready to attack my dog. For owners, if you know your dog is aggressive or acts up like that, please don't take them to the dog park.. it harms other dogs and can possible harm yours. Overall, this was a dog park. This park is divided into two sections. One for the small dogs and the other side for the larger sized dogs. The section for small dogs is too small whereas the large size is a big wide open space. There's people who don't care to clean up after their pet and doggy owners who are just on their phone not even looking after their pet. It was nice to have another park not too far away, but I don't think I will be here often. This is another park that has small and big dogs separated, by under 25 lbs or over 25 lbs. The small side is a bit smaller as always, but I have seen worse. What I did like about this park is that the grass is still flush and abundant, and not torn up and missing yet. There are also five benches and two water fountains available, where parks that are bigger have less than that. There are also dog bags available if needed. I tend to bring and use my own out of habit, because some run out all the time, and also because it does cost the city money or out of the funding for the parks, so I do my little part to save. Sometimes you see people at parks taking 5-10 bags so that they don't have to fork out any money of their own. The fence separating the two parks is high enough to not worry about dogs jumping over, but also low enough to lean over and observe the other pups playing on the other side. I also noticed to entrance/exit gates on the small side so I assume the large side has the same. One of the issues is the crew of homeless people lurking around. Supposedly the cops have cleared them out of the neighboring park for people, but the problem is still there. They are now all behind the bleachers of the nearby field in between the human park and dog park, and hanging out on the walkway to get there. The gate to park at the dog park was closed and locked, so unless you are one of the three lucky cars to park right next to the park, you will have to park against the curb with this crew or near the crew and walk through them. I have nothing against people in that situation at all. Times are tough and I would never want anyone or myself to go through that. However when they lurk, and stare, and some start randomly cussing out loud, I get a bit worried. My husband carried one of our pups back to the car and I walked quickly with the other. I'm not sure if I want to deal with all this often personally. It's very rare that I am almost looking forward to the allotted window of time for them to play to end. It's a nice park so far and a nice gesture of the city, but I will have to decide if I want to scope this out more in the future. Hopefully more will continue to open. Hopefully the issues will get better so that people can enjoy and continue to enjoy this park. Like I said, it's definitely kept up nice so far and has more resources available than other parks. read more

I like how this location is well maintained by the park services. I have been coming around 3-4 times a week for the last month to exercise my pup and I rarely ever see holes dug up in the large dog pen. Small dogs is another story, there's more tree coverage so the soil stays wet and I've seen dogs fight over dirt pits, my pup included. Smh ‍ Large dog pen is mostly hard soil/sand/fine gravel and the side closest to the stadium marquee has grassy coverage with firm soil. Well stocked on bags and trash removed frequently. The open space makes keeping and eye on your doggo easy but it's a large park so you get your daily steps in too if you're keeping close to your active dog. I prefer this park over ****George Bellis dog park in Buena Park which looked like a gofer sanctuary. So many holes and not maintained and fill/packed back down. I wouldn't recommend that park. The long strip of land in the large pen and excessive tree coverage makes it harder to monitor your dog and the small dog pen is shaded by the handball courts so the grass is always muddy from lack of sun. End of rant on Bellis dog park** The only negative I have to say about the La Palma dog park is about the homeless that linger all along the street parking and they occasionally camp right behind the Glover Stadium where most dog park patrons park and pass by with their pup. The first time I ever visited this location there was a man with several bags occupying a bench in the large dog pen, took me a while to realize after many owners and dogs came and went that he wasn't there with his dog at all. I haven't seen this since my first visit. Because it's a high traffic park I wouldn't recommend this location if your planning on training your dog there unless they are good at focusing on you because there are many distractions between dogs and things/cars/people on the other side of the fence. read more

Its great to see all the dogs enjoying themselves and sometimes I find someone interesting to chat with. If you had not been here do you're dog a big favor.. Came on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend and his 60lb hound/shepherd mix and took my 4 month toy terrier puppy for his first time at a dog park. Plenty of space, pretty well kept but you can tell that some people didn't clean up after their dogs so just watch where you step. Little dog side is perfect amount of space. Big dog side is huuuge! DOG OWNERS BEWARE!!!!!!! We have never had a problem coming to this park until today. If coming to this park beware of a BLACK WOLF LOOKING DOG (MAYBE A BLACK GERMAN SHEPARD) with a couple. This dog, upon seeing our dog who is a male, continued to ATTACK AND BITE our dog. When we (me and my friend) tried to pull the dogs apart, we yelled at him(the owner of the other dog) telling him to take the dog off but he didn't. When we asked why he didn't take ownership and pull his dog off he replied with a "I didn't want to get bit". Our dogs have never had a problem going to the park and got along w all dogs that have been to the dog park. When we examined our pup, immediately we saw he was bleeding and the guy replies that his dog never has a problem with the other dog, but the other dog wasn't playing and sitting w his owner. When we were leaving in our car we saw a puppy husky approaching the front gate and that black dog proceeded to go after that husky as well. Would be a 2 star review but being nice as that dog isn't the dog parks fault so +1 star for cleanliness and being pretty well kept. read more

This is the closest dog park to me. And I have 0 complaints it's usually really clean no poop on the floor. Everyone is very friendly there. I've been coming here since the day it opened and will continue to bring my pupper here. I do not recommend coming after sunset the place isn't very lit and could seem semi sketchy. Doggo and I just got back from visiting La Palma. The first thing to notice is there is no dedicated parking lot for the dog park. It's pretty much just street parking if you can find it. We couldn't find anything close so had to walk quite a bit after parking. The park itself is separated into enclosed areas for big dogs over 25lbs and smaller dogs under that weight. The small dog park has real grass but it's very patchy. There was a LOT of poop here and we had to be careful where doggo was playing. Some of the pet owners here were not very good at picking up after their dogs. To be honest I've been to much better maintained dog parks. There was not a lot of seating for pet owners either. A lot of people were just standing around. I also noticed just from my first and likely last visit, that the dogs here were not the friendliest. As soon as my corgi came in, two smaller dogs were aggressively barking and their 2 separate owners were completely aloof to the situation and did nothing to calm to their pet. I've been to other dog parks where it is very relatively quiet and owners are extra vigilant at keeping their dogs on good behavior without aggressive barking unlike La Palma. I will likely not be back as doggo and I did not have the best first impression. Doggo is normally very playful at every dog park we've been to but the persistent aggressive barking here throughout was definitely a turn off. read more

People do actually clean up after their dogs other than other dog parks and there are lots of places to sit a relax. People really do watch and pay attention as well. Bit disappointing. Small dog area is quite small especially since they have a weight restriction listed for small and large dogs. Any dog under 25 Pounds is consider small and anything over in the large section. Both had grass and dirt area however dim lighting when dark and maybe a sketchy neighborhood to park your car in as street parking is only available. When we first pulled up, there were a lot of homeless people in the adjacent park, but they don't seem to bother nobody...maybe each other. The La Palma Dog Park is chock full of potential. The grass is green and well taken care of, they have separate parks for small and large dogs and plenty of benches, doggie bag dispensers and water fountains throughout each. We came to this park about a month or so after it opened its door and found the park itself to be relatively nice. Both of our dogs are small (under 25 pounds) and we found the amount of amenities on the small side to be quite nice although the actual size of the park itself for the small dogs leaves a bit to be desired. The park appears to be kept up very well and was quite busy when we arrived so it seems that the masses are fully aware of the new park. Unfortunately for each good feature the park offers it also has its share of negatives. First and foremost is the complete and utter lack of parking on premises. The only parking available is street parking on the nearby street near the entry gates which would normally be adequate if not for the large congregation of homeless who take refuge under the bleachers lining the street across from the Salvation Army store. I don't typically feel unsafe walking through the homeless but it is a bit uneasy to have them so close to your car that you have parked a block away and can't see, especially when you have people just sitting in their cars watching. We also encountered a couple in a car who were screaming and shouting obscenities at one another and throwing blankets and other items out the passenger door onto the sidewalk leading the way to the park. I really hope that the city will step in and find these people a more adequate place to call home than under the bleachers here. My other issue is the people who refuse or are not understanding of the park rules when it comes to the temperament of their dogs. Now I know there are many extenuating circumstances that can cause issues with a dogs temperament but a big one is when you have fixed and unfixed dogs in the same area. I cannot tell people that it is right or wrong to fix your dog as that is truly your decision but please take notice that the fixed dogs will often times follow the unfixed around as they give off a different scent to them and this can often lead to aggravation or aggressiveness at times. Again, it is your decision and I am not going to argue the point one way or another but just be aware that this can cause issues in some cases. For the most part I found the people to be quite calm and most stuck to themselves and the majority of the dogs got along great. I don't see too many issues but the lack of parking is truly concerning to me and should be addressed down the line if possible. I am happy to have another dog park close to home that we can take our pups (I call them demons) to where they can run and frolic with others. read more

Beware of dog? More like beware of stuffy dog owners! First time to the dog park today and witnessed a tag team scuffle between two owners on the big dog side (I was on the small dog side). Everyone fell silent when one lady with her pink tennis ball at the end of a stick-contraption prodded it at another dog that was being playful with her dog...or aggressive according to her. The owner of the playful aggressor dog got up and yelled WTF to her husband and asked why are you touching my dog for? She then said self-righteously, "Your dog's been annoying me and ..." I only heard the first part because then her husband/partner/boyfriend marched over to the playful/aggressor dog owner and they had a stare down and exchanged words...in the middle of the La Palma Dog Park! That was the scariest thing about my experience here. You can read everything else below. PARKING: There are spots behind the bleachers and behind Salvation Army where ALL of the homeless people are, yes, I get it, but they keep to themselves so stop posting about homeless people like they're aliens! PLAY AREAS: As mentioned the park is separated in two for those dogs under 25 lbs. and those over 25 lbs. There were water fountains for adults and dogs to drink from. Trash bags and binnacles for doggie poop were graciously provided. The small dog side was pretty clean and everyone seemed to respect the park and pick-up after their pet which is awesome! DOG PARK VIBE: I had the mister's dog which is under 25 lbs. and found the minute he walked in there he was in instant play mode and not staring down other dogs or barking out of protectiveness or fear. I felt comfortable taking him off his leash within the first 5 - 10 minutes. I've never seen him so happy! The aura of the dog park was friendly, social and laid back. On the small dog park side, most owners were sitting comfortably on the sidelines letting their dogs go and meeting others dogs. Of course there was the occasional sniffing which lead to automatic humping but other than that I felt like the dog just walked into his favorite EDM club in Vegas and all of these strangers he never met before were his best friends and he had no problems mingling, playing, dancing and being himself around them and also being weird and humping other female dogs...although, some of those female dogs didn't exactly "run" away either. Just sayin' Overall a great experience, but I would definitely say the bigger dogs are fun to watch and pet when they come up to you, but the owners on that side are a lot more anxious, protective and nasty. I hardly saw any of the bigger dog owners sitting down they were all standing up and following their dogs on edge.
