Just returned from this place couldn't wait to put a review up. Oh where do we start? First of all I ordered the chicken Parmesan, which comes with spaghetti and a Caesar salad the Cesar salad came with a big heel of bread that was just a big chunk of cold bread and when I said, I don't get any butter or anything with it they said put olive oil on it, I've never in my life thought of drinking bread with oil and that just doesn't sound appealing so I asked for butter and while eating I paid attention to all the other diners and not a single person put olive oil on their bread. Most people didn't touch the bread. I saw one other guy ask for butter, which they brought me a little cup of cold hard butter, which didn't make much sense either, but I tried the olive oil on the bread. I couldn't even taste the olive oil and once again didn't understand why am eating oil made no sense to me so I started to eat my Caesar salad after about four bites my entrées came out which I'm dying alone, so I'm not wasting time conversation or anything, so my entrées are sitting there getting cold while I'm eating my Caesar salad the plate that the chicken Parmesan was on was hotter than the plate that the spaghetti was on so I ate my Caesar salad which they didn't dress. They just brought me a little cup of Caesar dressing, which meant most of my lettuce, didn't have any dressing on it so again, I tried the olive oil, which still don't understand the olive oil Has no taste as far as I'm concerned but at least I wasn't eating dry lettuce finished my Caesar salad, which normally I enjoy a good Caesar salad and moved on to my now cold spaghetti, setting aside the plate for the chicken Parmesan, which was still barely warm. I had to use my only napkin to soak up all the water coming off the not properly drain spaghetti and then I had to pick through my spaghetti sauce to take out the chunks of stewed tomato because although I enjoy a marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce, I do not enjoy stewed tomatoes what's the point of calling it sauce when it's not sauce It's chunks. The spaghetti sauce reminded me very much of Ragu out of the jar. They placed Italian seasoning on the table which at least it's somewhere because it's certainly not the spaghetti sauce. The spaghetti sauce was bland and fairly tasteless. I certainly can make better at home and was wondering why I'm paying almost $20 for this meal which I would remind you I always drink water with my meal, it's not that I don't want to pay the three dollars for $.35 worth of soda but I just don't trust at the lines of being clean and at least with water. I can taste if it taste right or has something in it so after adding Italian seasoning to my spaghetti sauce, which still disappointing, and picking out all the chunks of tomato because again, I just don't like stewed tomatoes, my spaghetti was good and cold and sadly very disappointing. I eat very little of it but again since I'm paying almost $20 for this meal I might as well take it home for my dogs and then I moved onto the chicken Parmesan which again I had to remove the big chunks of tomato from my marinara sauce, and it was far less disappointing than the spaghetti sauce it was still Owe you could almost call it warm and I guess it tasted OK you know like a something you expect it I don't know cafeteria once again just subpar dining here in Paris. They're not afraid to charge like they're giving you great food, but Lord so disappointing. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this Italian restaurant in this small town of Paris, TN. We haven't had much luck finding decent restaurants while in Tennessee, but this has been sigh of relief with the culinary talents that have escaped us so far. The bread is fresh and soft on the inside with a crunchy crust. The salads were fresh and bright. The entrees, mine a clam linguine and my wife's the specials Cajun chicken, we're just delightful. The prices were low compared to what we would have had to spend in our hometown of Anchorage, AK. The service was on point as we were seated right away, had our drinks within 5 minutes, bread and salads not to long after, and the entrees were delivered right after finishing the salads. I highly recommend the Olive Pit. read more

For the most part, felt like I could make a majority of the pasta dishes at home and feed myself for a month.. and I don't cook. The portions and prices don't seem to match to me. The food is good but nothing memorable. What they do have is a bottle fee so you can bring your own drinks - awesome and a saving grace! The service was awful it took 20 mins to get any service. Then we had to ask for bread that comes complimentary. We were asked if we wanted soup or salad and after receiving it our waitress did not provide us with silverware until 20 minutes after. The waitress never asked if we needed any refills, even though our drinks were empty. The waitress came out and told me that there would be a five dollar up charge on my meal when I changed only the kind of pasta because they didn't have the pasta that came with the meal. We waited 45 minutes to get our food two of them came out messed up.Then once we were done eating, we had to ask three times for our checks, and I asked her for a to go box for my food that was up charged, and she never brought me to go box. Once this server finally brought us our checks she didn't come back for them for 10 minutes. Then when she came back so we could pay and only took one of the three checks, then brought my friends check back and never took the other two so I got up and went and got the manager to take my money and she asked what was wrong and I told her that the server never took our checks but took one of them and never took the others so the manager took them and was so nice to us. The manager also brought me a to go box for my food. Although our server was awful, the manager and the environment was great the food tasted amazing. I hate this was my first impression on this restaurant and I hope if I go back again, I'll get better service. read more

My wife and I often make the drive from Murray to eat lunch here. The spaghetti is very tasty and the bread beats the pasta restaurants in Murray. The Italian wedding soup used to be too salty, but after some constructive complaints, they switched to a low sodium broth. Salt lovers can always add more. We rarely leave without sharing a piece of Tennessee cheese cake with raspberry and kiwi topping. They did not have kiwi today, but it was still good. Headed to visit the Paris winery from Memphis and the winery folks were kind enough to recommend this spot. The prices were very reasonable and service good. I had the penne with Alfredo and added shrimp. I really liked the bread , especially when dipped in the olive oil and seasonings on the table. I also really enjoyed the salad dressing. My pasta however was rather bland - not at all the rich flavor one typically tastes with an Alfredo sauce , it was thin and a bit salty. My fiancé did however love his pasta and will be giving a 5 star review. I'm willing to return and give another menu item a try. The ambience left a little to be desired though, the space is nice enough but the tables, chairs and booths are very low grade and most of the booths are cracked with duct tape patching. And upgrade to nicer quality seating would really elevate the entire look of the place. For the reasonable prices I'm not complaining but other reviewers have stated the ambience to be romantic and I must disagree. read more

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, and I was a little bit jealous. I've heard wonderful things about this place, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The atmosphere was great for Paris, Tennessee--no complaints really. And the food is so close to being good, yet it's been Americanized to death. The olive oil on the table was nearly flavorless, but the bread they served might just be the best in the entire county. (We'll call it a draw.) The salad was wilted lettuce and a wrinkled cherry tomato, but the dressing was good. (Another draw.) I ordered the special, Spaghetti Carbonara, and the pasta was cooked well, but they added so much bacon that the only word that kept popping into my head was "obscene." It was an obscene amount of bacon. It made the dish so salty that I could barley eat it. All in all, I will give it a draw. A solid 2.5, but to be fair, I will round up to 3 stars. read more

Just finished an amazing meal. Ordered Pasta Bella and asked them to add shrimp. Perfectly prepared. Portion was just enough to take a little bit home. Then for the grand finale we shared a slice maple bacon crusted cheese cake. OMG. Home made perfect balance of salty sweet and creamy crunch. Will be back many more times. read more

I am originally from Paris, TN and currently reside in Memphis, TN. I worked at Olive Pit when I was a sophomore in college. I also fell in love with their food and to this day I have yet to have a bad selection from their menu. They are always consistent and everything always taste and smells wonderful. I brought a friend from Memphis we had lunch and he said, "it's almost worth the 3 hour trip just to eat the food!". So they have another OP fan for life. Love this place and love the food even more. It's a must try when in Paris, TN! Make sure you try the Sweet Panchetta Pomadoro Penne with grilled chicken. Or try the OP Bowtie Pasta. Heck while your at it have some Brown Butter with Penne and add grilled shrimp to it! read more

This is a great place for Italian food. We order the Tuscan Spinach Appetizer and oh that is the best. The spinach is cooked in the sauce and gives it that wonderful layer of flavor plus it is cheesy as you could hope for. We order the Chicken Alfredo Pizza and it is like eating in Naples Italy. One very fine pizza with the char broil on the pizza and without a pizza oven. Amazing! You do need to bring your own wine which is fine by me so I get a great Chianti Classico from across the street. The bread and you making the dipping sauce at the table is great, they have done a great job on the dry spice mixture for the dipping sauce. Will be back again and again. read more

Hmmmm.... I took the advice to try Jason's Spicy Alfredo Penne. All I can say is "thank you!" This was an excellent Italian dish. Will be sure to get it again when we are in the area. We started off with their appetizer special for the evening. It was called "Pizza Dip". A delicious Marinara sauce with sausage, pepperoni, and cheese, served with a Tandoor-style bread. Our salads were delicious & my father-in-law enjoyed his side of Pasta Fagioli. Only issue we had was that they ran out of my wife & her dad's first choice of Ravioli Al Forno. They opted for Levi's Meat & Shells. The sauce was nowhere near the deliciousness of the Marinara. Overall, family thought it was decent. I thought it was fantastic. read more

Have not eaten there in a long time, and after tonight I don't think we will go back. My son ordered the chicken strips, but they were nothing more than frozen chicken fingers, not good at all. Our order was messed up and took for ever and it was not that busy. I ordered the salmon, and it was very dry and it to was like a frozen meal cooked in the oven, I had three bites and couldn't eat the rest, my pasta was cold as well. We were in Paris to attend a wake. My husband found OP on-line, and I checked out the ratings at Yelp beforehand. We were not disappointed. Charming little restaurant with a delightful lunch menu. However, you can order off their full/dinner menu as well. Lunch entrees came with bread, soup or salad, and were generously portioned for $9.95. Dinner prices were also very reasonable. They only serve beer, but you can bring your own wine, and there is no uncorking fee. The wine glasses were (literally) sparkling clean! Our server, Brittney, was excellent. Very polite, cordial, and friendly. She also told us her favorites from the menu. We took home a "Mark's Porkapocalypse Pizza". Wow, it is REALLY loaded with all the good stuff! Ample free parking, although the spaces were a little tight. Got there about 12:30p on a Saturday, and by 1:00p, there was a wait. Food came out fast, bread was fresh. This was a pleasant dining experience for a solemn day. read more

What a find. Being a transplanted NYer, it has been hard to find really good Italian food in TN. While visiting family in Paris, TN we decided to give it a shot. Mussels Fra Diavalo were fresh and meaty with a great spicy marinara sauce. They even had bread with a crust believe it or not. Finished with a ravioli in meat sauce. My second time here, the first time a year prior. It seems to be about the only game in town and as such, is a bit uninspired and can be busy. The service was a bit amateurish, the server couldn't remember who ordered what in our party of 6. The mussels were fine served in a flavorful tomato sauce. This places has the makings to be one of Paris's best restaurants.. The food is always good and the service is ok.. They do bring bread to your table and it is always wonderful. I do wish they had a liquor license, they do have beer. I always get the same thing so my review is kind of short. I get Jason's Spicy Penne. It is always good and the portion size is just right. The Olive Pit is decently priced and the service was pretty good. It is a little Italian restaurant that is the fusion of a hometown feel with food sub par of the Olive Garden. There are romantic looking benches around the perimeter of the building and the interior was dark conveying a European ambiance. The food meal came with a basic house salad. I was surprised when I ate at this "Italian pasta house" because the stars (ratings)indicate something better then what I expected. My appitizers were basically from the supermarket freezer aisle, albiet good but I didnt expect this- I expected better. My pasta was clearly microwaved or reheated.... My expectations were not that high and I wasnt expecting AWESOME, but I also wasnt expecting a reheated frozen dinner either. Service was outstanding so I cannot complain about that.
