If you need veggies, cold cuts or maybe 1 ingredient to complete a meal I'd recommend, but I wouldn't buy the meat, you walk into the meat section and gag like the butcher kitchen smells so bad like rotten rancid meat, I don't trust buying the meat because of this. I don't know what it is. It's a deli expect groceries to be high, I'd just order cold cuts, get Italian bread or rolls and nothing else. read more

I usually only go here out of laziness if I can't deal with a larger super market, or if I'm in a time crunch. I've called a few times for delivery, a service they claim they offer. Every time its a struggle. Their customer service is pretty bad calling in. They abruptly place you on hold and transfer you without telling you. Today I called in (again, out of desperation) for delivery because I'm home sick. Please note I've had SEVERAL deliveries in the past, now all of a sudden no delivery. He says.. oh, we don't deliver to that neighborhood. When I pushed back and said, "but I've had several deliveries in the past" He comes back with some mumbled explanation I could barely understand about their delivery vehicle. I hung up. Seriously? What does the vehicle have to do with how far I am from the supermarket? Whether its 2 miles or 3.5 you still need a car. I'm done with this place. They're overpriced. I was so excited when a family member asked if they could get me anything from Olive Tree as I had seen their website which was extremely enticing.. However, 4 orders later and I'm so disappointed.. The soups were either tasteless or made from same basic tomato stock eg. minestrone watery with heavy oregano taste or pasta fagoli which is same soup with beans.. I threw them out! I'm used to Pastosa and this comes nowhere near the quality... lasagna was too much sauce and too much meat.. no ricotta.. what I found to be good was potato croquettes, tortellini salad and produce .. I don't know who's making their prepared items, but I do know it's not a chef. read more

Always friendly, clean, competitive prices. They have everything the bigger supermarket has plus fresh bread and fresh mozzarella. Their deli is includes the usual lunch meats and cheeses plus dinner specialities. A new thing they added is empanadas. read more

Putting aside this place is way overpriced, it's unfortunate that when you are going into a local store where we used to be able to trust (Miggy's) that is now a store that single handily out dates and over prices their products. Their meat, produce, even frozen, and isle items are past date and expired. For meat and produce, they make up their own dates to sell it. The deli is okay, but do not buy meat or produce because you will experience the unfortunate unhealthy affects. Keep an eye on those packaging dates! They are not correct. read more

Yesterday I wanted to try going somewhere that used to be great to get some macaroni potato salad and coleslaw . They all were disgusting . All three tasted like someone doesn't know how to make them and the potato salad tasted like it was made with miracle whip ! Wasted 20$ at this place - NEVER AGAIN !!!! this place went downhill over the years - they used to have the BEST salads and cold cuts on the island ! This place is terrible! Most of the products have NO PRICES! Once you get to the register everything is over priced.

I come to this store at least 4-5 times a week since it's the closest option but it's getting really frustrating! Everytime I come in there's a different price for the products. I'll buy a juice for $1.99 one day, and it'll be $2.99 the next day. How much you pay depends on the cashier you have, it's like a lottery system. And the cashiers don't even bother to apologize anymore after confronting them that they miss-priced the product. Either they're told to overprice products or they are just not trained properly but it's getting ridiculous. I'll drive the extra mile instead of having to deal with the trouble. read more

I'm certainly a regular customer here. It's very close to where I live, and the people who own it are very warm to their customers. Their staff are also very courteous. I decided to give their catering a try for an event that I was hosting, and I'm very impressed. The quality of their food is really superb and I highly recommend them. Every single person who ate the focaccia bread sandwiches (yum!) thought they were delicious. And yes, they were really good! Even down to something as simple as potatoes, they were very well seasoned. Consequently, this is now my go-to place for catering, and I'll be ordering a lot more for our next event. read more

This place is a big hit or a big miss depending on what day you go. Obviously they make more pre-made meals than they actually sell because I have brought stuff that is literally so old it's chewy. No thank you. Also why is the place freezing in December? The cashiers are wearing jackets. Poor management for sure. Some of their meals are so freaking salty that you'll die from high blood pressure right on the spot. Sometimes their food is really good. Still my favorite market and it just keeps getting better and better. Every week there seems to be new quality gluten free goodies and the best thing is they now carry Spiked Seltzer which is so amazing I've been driving to Jersey and Long Island to get it. Gluten free, high abv, no added sugar and only one weight watchers point per bottle. The place is always clean and stocked and I find the prices just as affordable as any grocery store but this place has waaaayyyyy more specialty items. read more

For a "neighborhood" kind if market, it's not bad. Decent grocery selection, although they don't have the space to be a full on grocery store. A vast improvement over Miggys, which occupied that spot for years, but they do have a way to go. One of the owners is forever walking around with the look of complete hysteria on his face but after talking with him, I think he's just high strung. The deli section is extremely hit and miss. I've had quinoa salads that were really good and potato salad that went in the bin, as it had obviously been offered past its sell by date. Oh, and good luck getting service at the deli counter. I have lost count of the times I've waited and eventually just walked away. It depends on who is working. Although there may be a cadre of people working behind the counter preparing (I assume) catering, it takes some clearing of the throat to have them actually approach the counter. The produce section was top notch when they first opened but has a large degree of meh now. Not that it's bad, it's just same old same old and they are obviously buying a lesser quality. Such an improvement from the pithole that Miggies came to be. Very good choices of food and it is so clean. They have a fish market (Seabreeze) which always has fresh selections at the lowest possible prices. Their selection of meats and cheeses are outstanding for a small market. Lots of different choices for ready made food and even healthy alternatives. I live right here so it is my "go-to" when I need something fast or a quick bite. They added beer and lotto now so once they get metro cards it will be a one stop shopping place. They are a little expensive with certain pre made foods but the food is good. Great weekly specials. They are very attentive to their customers. It's a nice change for the neighborhood. read more

Bought 2 large packages of chicken cutlets and they were spoiled rotten. Bought them on Thursday 07/13/2017 and attempted to filet them on Friday and was knocked off my feet by the smell and they were extremely slimy. After I purchased them they were tended to properly and immediately stored in an ice cold refrigerator. It's disturbing that whom ever packaged the cutlets didn't notice that they were bad!!!!!!!! I'll never shop at this store again, health doesn't seem to be their priority. read more

Constantly out of staples such as cottage cheese, English muffins, heavy cream, seven-up, oatmeal, etc.... I have spoke to the managers and owner multiple times about this, and all I get is a shrug and a mumbled, "its the distributors." Other stores in the area actually manage their "stores" and you can reliably find your staples. The specialty Italian items here can be found at Pastosa Ravioli. CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES!!! This past weekend on Saturday I purchased several Gerber baby foods for my 8 month old daughter. Yesterday while feeding her, I noticed a few packs of the baby foods I purchased expired several months ago in December of 2018. Of course, these were the last two packs remaining from the dozen or so baby foods I purchased over the weekend since my daughter ate them over the past few days. My wife called yesterday to speak to a manager who was indeed friendly to inform him some of the baby food on the shelf was expired and that we would be bringing our expired baby foods back to the store. Today (Tuesday), I brought the baby foods back to the store and explained it to the cashier who told me I wouldn't be able to return or exchange the foods without my receipt even tho the baby food they sold us was expired. Sorry I don't save receipts for $25 or so from grocery stores and maybe you shouldn't sell expired food. I understand that I should have looked at the date but I trust that when I purchase food that it shouldn't be expired. And when I try to bring back the expired item, maybe you shouldn't give the customer such a hard time especially if it could lead to a customer (especially a baby) getting sick. read more

I have been coming to this store location for years! Back when it was called Miggy's, I was a regular. Now it's the Olive Tree Marketplace and if I'm frank it's an overpriced market that has poor customer service. I've had 2 unforgettable experiences! The first being: while shopping, minding my business and going up an aisle a stock worker was talking to a fellow Co-worker. As I was looking at items on the shelf, one of the employees turned and said, "what do you want"? Completely unprovoked, I was appalled at his question! I asked him for no assistance and besides that, that's not how u speak to a customer! Instead of addressing a manager I brushed it off! Months went by and of course I needed a item in a pinch, against my better judgement (or maybe a glutton for punishment) I decided to go there. This time I was harassed by a gentleman I presume to be a manager (mustache with glasses)! I asked for an item which he graciously went in the back to get, in which I said thank you! As my shopping experience ended I realized I forgot something on the far end of the store. I started noticing that as I was making my way to the items location this man was seemingly following me everywhere I went as I stopped to look at things along the way. Not wanting to believe that he was doing that I ignored it, payed for my items (I'm no thief) and as I wheeled my bought groceries out of the store to the ramp where the carts are held, he stood behind me and watched me take my groceries out the cart and watched me to my car! Not once offering to help! I was so infuriated, I work hard for my money and should not be harassed while trying to spend it and support local businesses! I feel as though it was racially motivated, otherwise why shadow me! I will not be back and I encourage everyone to Not shop here! The prices are inflated and the treatment is terrible! read more

When Olive Tree first opened up we were excited to try their selection of meats and fish. We bought a few packages of different meat and could not eat any of them. Poor quality, not fresh, terrible taste. Inedible! So we gave them one more chance and tried their supposedly fresh seafood. We bought 2 dozen clams and 3 lobster tails. While we cooked the clams the whole house smelled, we knew something was wrong. Disgusting breading and clams were practically sour. The lobster tails were tough and once again inedible. DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY here. Go to Met Food on Victory instead. read more

I am so happy to finally have a gourmet grocery store in my neighborhood! One stop in the new Olive Tree Marketplace and you'll know this is a unique store where you can not only load up on all the usual groceries but also find speciality items of a more "gourmet" quality. The deli section is stocked with an abundance of deliciously prepared foods including a variety of fresh soups, stuffed pork chops, fresh mozzarella, kale salad, fried ravioli, and home-made meatloaf, just to name a few. The Olive Tree Marketplace also has a top-notch fish department where you'll always find the freshest variety of fish and shellfish. Additionally, there's a variety of gluten-free foods as well as a fresh produce section, and a fresh meat and dairy section. It is note worthy to mention that the owners are very accommodating to stock their shelves with items that their customers want, so if you don't see something you have a craving for, just ask them and they will add it to their inventory!
