No matter how many times we go to NY, we ALWAYS make time to specially hit up LaBella. This is an amazing Italian restaurant with so many of the products otherwise only available in Italy . The sites and smells:YUM! The pastry case is jammed full of tradition cannoli, lobster tails, napoleons, pignoli cookies, etc. etc.! The only sadness that I have for this place is that they don't ship. It is very difficult to try to coax a beautiful decorative white milk bottle full of Amerana cherries back onto an Alaska Airlines flight home.

Macaroni salad was sour ,4 foot hero mushy bread no meat , Very disappointed

Great selection of cheeses, esp freshly made mozzarella. The Italian pastries, however, were very bland and tasteless.

SECOND, the food is just as amazing! I was so happy hahah. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a restaurant for more than just their food. We came here for my boyfriend's parent's anniversary and the server's were wonderful and honestly very thoughtful as well! They were very attentive to our table and refilled our waters often. I also say this because when my bf's parents ordered the halibut to split, they had brought out their meal in two individual plates that were beautifully plated, you would think they ordered separately! They also took our group picture! :) We ordered 2 orders of the Basement Snacks: For Two, 2 orders of their raw oysters for appetizers. For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Carbonara Rossa with a side of Asparagus. Everything was so good. Their buffalo wings were perfectly marinated and not too saucy, their ribs were so tender and the meat fell straight off the bone! My carbonara was also delicious. For dessert they even gave an anniversary treat which was so sweet. I ordered a Chocolate Cappuccino which was also great. 11/10! Wonderful and would recommend.

We had a lovely night out with a couple who are our long time and good friends and we looked forward to this evening! However, there was a problem at the beginning of the evening that is unacceptable... my husband went to park the car, our friends were waiting at the bar for us, I walked in first. My friend ordered me an Aperol Spritz and my husband a diet coke. My husband does not drink and has been very successful with his sobriety for many years. The bartender, (I later found out her name is Maureen and apparently she is a manager there), misunderstood the drink order so my friend reiterated that we wanted a diet coke and an Aperol Spritz (two separate drinks). The "diet coke" arrived in a soda glass with a lemon wedge (just like a diet coke would) and the Aperol Spritz arrived in a cocktail glass. My husband took a sip of the "diet coke" and asked me if it tasted like there was liquor in it. Sure enough there was. We immediately returned it and the other bartender confirmed that it was a mix of Aperol Spritz with diet coke in the soda glass. My husband confronted the bartender and told her about her grievous mistaken and full disclosure, he said this is a "big f$%ken mistake you made". She took absolutely no responsibility for her error and shouted at him that she "was told to make a diet coke with Aperol Spritz". Truth be told, we clarified the drink order to her and why would she present the "diet coke" in a soda glass if it indeed was a cocktail. She went full "Karen mode" on him when she should have apologized. My request is that she re-trains in customer service and her ability to mix drinks! Like I said above, the food was excellent, the waiter was great, but this error is a serious error. People do make mistakes, but please acknowledge your mistakes and take care with serious issues. The dining experience was great, but I cannot give a 5 star due to the error.

So how did I wind up back here? Bit of a story but if you read my first review you'll see how I met a friend that I met online 13 years ago for the first time and this was the place we went for dinner after an event. Well, now a year later, her and I were traveling together north to Parsippany and this was the closest restaurant that looked appealing. It was not until we enter the parking lot I said out loud, this is where we had our first dinner. Anyways, enough of that love story. I really want to give this two stars for service but the food really pushed it over the top. So all in all I will keep it as a four star review. I want to address the food first, I had the short rib tacos, and my partner had eggplant caprice flatbread. I had a bite of hers which I absolutely enjoyed, eggplant had a nice crisp to it which really made it enjoyable. The short rib tacos... holy crap! Mind blown. I did not expect such great flavor in such a small bite. Everything about the tacos packed a punch. I would much rather have had six tacos and no chips and salsa. As for the service, this is where I got frustrated and my cash tip hopefully reconcile with my server. We dined on the rooftop which was completely empty minus a couple at the bar. We seated and ordered our beverages. I did not get my lime with my lemon water. After we ordered our meals, and received them, a server never came back to check in with us. I wasn't a big fan of her attitud either. It started to get busy I noticed that the host kept seating everyone around us when there was an entire floor to sit people at. Not sure if they're trying to keep people in one specific area but for how slow it was they certainly could've given everyone more privacy. I'm pretty sure the couple that was seated next to us got up and left for that reason. Cannot say I will not be back but who knows when I'll be traveling through again.

Those people spam the crap out of their buttons for the dinner spots and when I went I can see why. The place is brimming with old school New York charm and it's completely overwhelmingly beautiful and has an old jazzy vibe to it. It's large and spacious and they sat us in the middle of the entire restaurant. (I had a group of 6) The vibe was so good you don't really want to leave and they also don't really kick you out. I think we were the last ones to exit for brunch but they were so nice they didn't kick us out. Their espresso martinis are ok. It wasn't as amazing as a regular cocktail bar but it is just ok. We started off with a shrimp cocktail, smoked whitefish Caesar salad and the two plates of truffle monkey bread which was soooo good. I really enjoyed this as it's the main reason we came here. It's almost like a honey dinner roll with truffle. We got everything next which some people got their own and some shared. Some people got their own American breakfast platter which was some overdone eggs and a meat with gigantic toast and if you only order scrambled eggs it comes in a bowl but I would much rather order their classics like steak sandwich and the spicy shrimp was pretty good! Fries are top tier! I can see why people just come here for dinner. I would give it mostly 5 stars for the overall ambiance and environment and a few classics. I think their old fashioned is better than their espresso martinis though even though it looks so good in this type of setting! It's hard to get a reservation though so next time I'll need to try some new things if I score another!
