Went into the store & noticed it was empty on a Saturday afternoon. They had a decent selection of food to cook/ bbq. I picked up a piece of pork to make she's kabobs & bought red peppers for $5.99 a pound. Only bought a total of 4 items which came to $20 & then give the cashier my debit card. The new total was over $21 because of a 4% charge on paying by card. Never heard of a grocery store charging extra to use your debit card. read more

Wow I'm super disappointed I used to order my antipasto and a few things for thanksgiving every single year for over 13 years. This year was absolutely horrendous the antipasto basically looked thrown together mozzarella tasted sour not fresh at all, shrimp was dry everything was off. I know they changed owners, but this was so disappointing. I really wanted it to be the same experience with the quality of the food but it wasn't. Well, lesson learned for the amount I spent I will be making my own next year with fresh quality ingredients. I can't see myself going back after this. read more

I checked this place out since my store Sorianos closed. It's old and dirty. Not much groceries or produce and the prices are ridiculous. Not many Italian specialties there can buy what they have for much cheaper elsewhere. Bought a few things I don't know why. Waste of time and money. Got BH turkey asked for thin got scraps when I got home and that was expensive and besides that the deli clerks are so rude and not friendly and feels like your bothering them. Their tuna salad taste like mayo and their vodka sauce was regular sauce nothing special. Overall customer service was terrible, food quality is poor, pricing is out of control there and cleanliness not good either. Just skip this store and the headache. read more

Loved this place. I asked for an Italian sandwich, and the only question was "what do you want on it." I went for broke- capicola, soppressata, prosciutto, pepperoni and sharp provolone. Great bread, fresh sliced onion, lettuce, tomato, and perfect oil vin. What a monster... $12. Unbeatable. Also got 1 lb. of the fresh mutz. $7.99 lb paid for thinly sliced chicken breast ,they show the better side of the breast on top .take home to find all the chicken is cut with thick tough skin left on. Going back to Frank and sals always get perfectly cut chicken, hopefully the continue to cut it perfectly . read more

Absolutely horrible! novelli's is not only dirty but a freaking rip off. I was desperate yesterday for chicken cutlets. since I lived in the neighborhood for 32 years, I didn't want to go far before the snow started, I ran there. I got my overpriced cutlets, but continued to walk around the meat counters. Saw a package of pinwheels thst was price $.98. "Awesome deal" I think to myself. It's just 2 ( normally there is 3) but still cool! I get to the register and either the cashier is completely stupid or trying to rip off the market she works fir. She starts ringing up my stuff but I notice to never totaled out the guy in front order of $53. So she tells me my chicken cutlets and pinwheel are $62. I say to her a little sarcastic, "does thst seem right?" So she re-rings up my order and starts yelling at me. "OH NO YOU DONT! YOU CANT GET THE PINWHEELS FOR $.98." So I grab another package from the meet counter that is marked $.86. And "They are 99 cents a pound! I actually want both packs" She starts screaming for the manager. He comes over and yells at me that it's a mistake and I can't have them for thst price. I explain that it's markerd that price snd he has to give it to me for thst price. He rips them out of my hand like an animal and tells me "I'm not a big supermarket, I don't have to give you anything!" Instead of making a Big commotion, I paid and I left with only my chicken cutlets. Never going back there again. EVER! What a$$holes! read more

I went in here for the first time yesterday because I was craving a nice italian cold cut hero. The store is very nice inside, they have a little bakery that smells delicious and the girls working there in the bakery and cashiers were very nice. I asked for 2 sandwiches and the deli guy tells me to go get my own italian bread because there is no more behind the deli. Then I asked for ham + salami + muenster cheese .. they made both sandwiches up and gave them to me. I got home there was no meat on my sandwich all bread, they were very cheap with the coldcuts, I ended up putting my own american cheese on it at home and vinegar to fix it. I love everything about this place. The cutlets, stuffed breaded mushrooms, stuffed cherry peppers, rice balls, sausage buns, potato croquettes, spinach, broccoli raab (sp), bagels, mozzarella, cold cuts, pastries, etc. The list goes on. Hell....even the damned rice pudding is very good. I had them cater a NYC bachelor party many years ago. Fifteen or so participants; nothing but praise about the food. Of course, I took the place for granted when I resided here and it was a five minute drive away. Now, if I want something along these lines, I either have to patronize what San Francisco or Los Angeles has to offer (a weak choice) or call Joe and have him send me an overnight care package. I've taken the overnight option a couple times in the past and loved it. So did my co-workers at the time. Nowadays, when I visit the Island, I'll load up on Novelli's goodies and transport it back myself. I've said it before: Staten Islanders have it very good in the food department. Everytime I step foot into this store I regret it. The only reason they are still in business is there location & they have no competition. Place is beyond filthy. Shelves are dirty & inventory has mounds of dust on it. I cannot express how rude entire staff is, including the owner. The owner basically stands there on his phone ignoring how nasty workers are to customers. U could die before anyone asks "can I help you?" When u finally get the attention of a worker & place your order, it's as if you are asking them to perform surgery. You are afraid to ask for anything else. Best part is when you go to the registers to pay for your overpriced food, you either get a nasty young girl who is busy texting or the owners miserable & beyond nasty wife who throws your change at you. Solid neighborhood specialty deli with lots of Italian goodies. My sister loves their potato croquettes so we decided to go pick up some the day before thanksgiving (which could be pretty dangerous as far as crowds). Luckily the store was not too crowded and we were helped pretty quickly! Got some potato croquettes, rice balls, fresh mozz, and sauce. The total was $43 so it's a bit pricey, but kind of expected because the quality is much better than your typical grocery store. I'm looking forward to digging in tomorrow! I'll definitely return if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Only go there in a pinch. Service and cashiers are horrible. Anytime you are at deli counter it seems a bother to them. Cashiers pay no attention and are either constantly in conversation with one another as they ring your order or I had one girl ring my order with one hand while talking to a friend on her cell phone in the other. Owner should teach employees how to treat customers. They act like they are doing you a favor when it should be just the opposite. The place has gotten dirty since they changed hands and the mouths on the guys working behind the deli counters are more foul than a truck driver's. Called to speak to manager regarding my "baked ziti" tray for Christmas Eve. They claim it feeds 12 AND there was hardly any cheese in the whole thing! $59 for a tray that is an inch thick is a bit much. I was told no one ever complains about their hot trays, but I see here that some have! ... The customer service is horrible. I live in Brooklyn and only ordered from there because it was close to where I was going to be and heard they were good. Big disappointment! read more

Bad customer relations! I recently went to Novelli's to purchase a dozen bagels! The sole purpose for me going there instead of one of the many bagel shops on SI was that they were advertised in their flyers for $5.99! So after I picked out my mixed dozen I went to the cashier to purchase the bagels Ang to my surprise they wanted me to pay $6.99! I immediately informed the cashier that according to their flyer they should be $5.99! She just said rudely that they come up $6.99! I then showed her that the flyer that they have displayed at the register shows that the price should be $5.99! When she refused to acknowledge their mistake I asked her to get a manager! When the manager came he began to get even more rude then the cashier, so finally I told them what they could do with their bagels and I walked out! So much for customer relations! Needless to say I will not be returning there again! read more

Nice little Italian pork store in a shopping center, a co-worker and I came here for a quick bite to eat, they had all different types of pastas, meats, cold cuts, frozen sauce, even a bakery inside. Just a typical Italian deli. I loved that they had different types of olives, I love olives and had me some stuffed provolone and regular grape olives. They were good. They also make sandwiches, wraps and breakfast here too. I ordered me a wrap it was not bad but I think I had me better honestly, I felt the grilled chicken was too grilled- hate that charcoal taste! It cost me $6 too. Deli workers are nice. I seen they have pre-seasoned meats or pre-cooked rice balls or small other appetizer foods you can purchase. It's a small deli so not much but I enjoyed it for the 10 mins I was in there and the workers were nice overall. read more

Wow this place has gone down hill this is the third time I bought food that is old and rotten . First time the ground pork had fresh on top and old on the bottom . Four people had to smell it before they gave me my money back . The second was the same now I bought cold antipasto and there was a piece of meat that was hard it was like a brick no lie , how old is it when bologna turns to stone?
