I have been here several times and the food and service have both been excellent. The atmosphere is nice and open with a good bar area as well. The pastas are tasty and priced well. The pizzas are fresh and big for one person. Their lunch sandwiches are made with fresh warm crusty bread and fresh ingredients. And their specials like their osso bucco are fall off the bone good and packed with flavor!! I haven't had the poor service experience that others have had. Service is usually above average and friendly. Overall this is a welcomed addition to the restaurant scene in Augusta that has be coming back. Tuesday night is the night for great atmosphere and buy one (draft beer or wine that is sold by the glass) and get another for a penny for yourself. this is not Uber and you can't split free, but if you are in a two drink mood and the most awesome $5 house salad near the hill (Surrey Center) you have to give this place a try. The manager (Tony) greeted us at the door and circled by to make sure everything was great. We ordered soup and a chalkboard special/ extended menu. The flavor and overall presentation was great. Wait staff will bring you bread if you ask, and everything comes with a little soft bread and olive oil /balsamic vinegar for dipping. The customer base was diverse, not French Market-ish. Wonderful food and service. We went on Mother's Day and it was very busy. As a result we had to sit outside. I was afraid our service would not be good but we were pleasantly surprised. Our server, Kat, made sure our drinks stayed full and checked on us appropriately. She made great food recommendations and we were all very pleased. One of my guests said the meatballs were the best he had ever had. My party had the spaghetti with meatballs, spinach salad, salmon, shrimp and pasta olivianna. All of it was fantastic. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I will definitely go back. My only comment or warning is that it can be a little pricy. Salads, pasta, etc are all add-one to entrees. It could have been great! The food was good, but we never did get any bread in the 2+ HOURS we were there for Sunday brunch. I never got a second cup of coffee either, even though I asked my waitress twice, and another waitress once. We were lucky to finally get our whole order. The food was great, but the terrible service left a bad taste. I guess I could have understood better if the restaurant was jammed, but it was never more than 1/2 full or less. My wife and I have been here about 4 times now. The service has always been very good. The prices are about right considering the high quality of food. It is certainly a bargain compared to others in Surrey Center and the Hill area. We have tried the eggplant parm (super good), pork osso bucco special (highly recommended), risotto, several pizzas (sometimes a little soggy, but great crust), calamari (so-so), stuffed mushroom (yum) and several meats and cheeses. We have always had great wine here as well, for a very reasonable price. Overall, this place is a very welcome addition to Augusta. We need more restaurants who actually care about food. This place is very good and with a little fine-tuning and menu refinement could easily be one of the best restaurants in town. Check it out! read more

What a great restaurant! Greeted as soon as walked in the door and soon thereafter brought complimentary Ciabatta bread to nibble on! (Home-made bread at that!) I had the Veal Marsala and my wife tried the Saltimbocca di Pollo, both of which were super Delicious!! The prices were great and the cocktails prepared perfectly. The service was excellent, but the food was overpriced and underwhelming. I ordered an $18 pasta dish and to be honest it was bland and worth more like $10-11. I could have gotten the same, or maybe better, quality at Applebees and it would have come with a complimentary salad. Again, the service was nice, and I liked the decor as well. It had a nice ambiance. But the music was too loud and it was difficult to hear my partner at times. We visited for the first time after my daughters visit to the AU campus. Needless to say first impressions matter and we probably won't ever come back here. We had to wait to be seated we had to wait for a table to be cleaned we had to wait for the waiter to show up at our table and then we had to ask for dinner menus as it was 3 PM and the hostess gave us lunch menus, all the while in the booth behind us sat what appeared to be 3 employees in management and the chef. No one recognized the fact that we were only one of three tables in the restaurant at the time and no one seem to care. The conversation they had seemed inappropriate as well as they discussed how many employees had called off and that the chef felt ill as well. Who wants to hear that when they're getting ready to order food the chef cooked? Our waiter had no personality and I believe he was mad at the management sitting in the booth behind us as well as several times he had to ask them to come see people or take food back from another booth beside us. I even had to ask for my check and then wait for that also. Not impressed. I would have liked a local restaurant to frequent but we left all agreeing that the food and service at Carabba's far surpasses this establishment. read more

I have been to multiple Italian restaurants in Augusta... This is by far the BEST in Augusta! The first time I went with my husband and we got the pork shank and a pizza. The food was absolutely amazing.. Our server did a wonderful job refilling our drinks and getting our food out in a timely manner. While we waited for food we were also given tasty bread. (YUMMM) The second time I went for a girls night out. Happy hour was very reasonably priced. We all had drinks and appetizers. Everything came out just the way we ordered it. Some of the drinks took a little longer to make.. but there was only one bartender, so she did a wonderful job keeping up. I ordered some pasta and it was just as tasty as our last visit. I had special dinner plans for the following week, so I decided to try it for lunch with a few others. My mother and I got salads and my child got salmon with french fries. My daughter is unusual in that she likes salmon, so I was glad it was an item she was looking forward to...until it arrived and she tasted it. It was burnt! Needless to say, she refused all of it and we tasted it as well, yes indeed burnt! The service was not very fast, the lunch specials were not mentioned, no Parmesan/hot pepper flakes were offered, my salad included the wrong dressing. We just had brunch at Oliviana's and have been there before. The food was very good but the service was horrible. The waitress, Alex, seemed very disinterested in our table and not helpful at all. When asked about my son's meal after she brought out all of ours, she walked away and never came back to tell us about it. We had to finally ask about 10 min later and she said it would be a few minutes. Never apologizing for the delay or anything, like it was our fault we ordered it. I rarely give restaurants bad reviews. This is not a review on the food, it is a review on our experience on this particular day. It is Father's Day, so Oliviana is packed with people, however, we ordered appetizers (salads) and had to wait over 45 minutes before we even got them. On top of that, we did not even have a chance to order our entrees in those 45 minutes. I am sure that the food here is delicious and the atmosphere is really nice for dates, but the kitchen needs to be better equipped to deal with busy days. By the time we got our tiny salads, we had no interest in waiting another hour for our food and ending up leaving. I honestly was excited to try this place and I am sure the food is really good, but our experience here was terrible from the moment we walked in. Aside from that, the staff that helped us was super nice and apologetic, but it did not take away from the fact that we were in the restaurant for an hour and a half and split 1 salad between us. Our waitress offered us free dessert and the host apologized many times. They even didn't make us pay for the food, which I really appreciated. The problem seemed to reflect a lack of organization/preparation in the kitchen when it comes to busy holidays like Father's Day. read more

My husband was informed 5 minutes after he ordered, that mussels were not available for his Linguine Pescatore which is the main ingredient as far as he was concerned, so he had to go for extra shrimp. To run out of mussels at 5:30 pm was not a good sign. The sauce was soupy and the whole dish tasted bland. The salad greens were limp. The tiramisu was the worst I ever tasted. The waiter (initials PM) was more interested in conversing with the waitresses rather than waiting tables. It took me a while to get his attention to get me more tea. So we went here for mother's day and while the place was not full (which can be a bad sign), it far surpassed my expectations. Our waitress was awesome and was a delight in its own. We had the calamari to start andirons was the perfect example of how it should be, soft and not chest at all with great sauces. We chose this restaurant on the advice of a previous patron. The ambience was lovely, it was not crowded so we have several seating options. We were seated promptly with a great view of the open kitchen and the chefs. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. The chef provided a complimentary appetizers of wings which were so wonderful. We ordered their sangria which was great. We also ordered calamari, mussels and their soup of the day, lobster bisque. The calamari was lightly fried with a great garlic aioli and marinara. The mussels were abundant in a lovely marinara would we absorbed with their delicious bread. The soup was delicious, albeit slightly salty. Mushy pasta. "Antipasto" was super market quality deli meats and cheese. Tasteless olive oil with bread that would make any Italian cry. Piccata was bland and stringy. Lasagne also mushy pasta with grainy meat sauce. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. read more
