A fancy little place down an alley I would not have suspected! It is nice, so dress up a bit! The service is amazing. Very fast, very friendly and very knowledgable! My steak was awesome, no I didnt get the big guy by myself but had a smaller version. The wine was tasty. My wifes pasta was a little dry and burnt but I assume that was a 1 off. We were staying in Florence and made many plans for dinner, with the exception of this particular evening. So, we searched social media sites for options and this one looked promising, so we stopped in. First impression was that it's beautiful, elegant, and appeared upscale. Server greeted us immediately and sat us without delay, even though we didn't have a reservation and they were busy. The table settings were beautiful and the décor is romantic and quaint. We had a nice table for two in the front dining room and they have these interesting small tables they place at the side of these smaller tables to accommodate other items that won't fit on the table, such as wine, bread, or (in our case) the huge T-Bone steak they're known for! Our server picked a great wine to go with the steak and promptly brought it over. We did have a hard time deciding what to eat, as their menu has so many appetizing options. I knew I definitely wanted to try their Tagliolini con fonduta di pecorino a tartufo fresco - The description looked amazing and I'm currently on a pecorino and truffle kick. A couple next to us ordered the La Bistecca alla Foirentina and it looked amazing, so we opted for the same, along with a side of roasted potatoes. Our incredible server warned us that this might be a lot of food to finish and suggested we go with their half portion side of this particular pasta dish, as that's an option, which we did. Everything was EXCELLENT! The pasta came out right before the steak, it was piping hot, fresh, and looked amazing... smelled amazing too! Flavors were what I hoped for and dream of when I'm not in Italy, where it's so easy to get such amazing dishes! Then the steak - OUTSTANDING! It was perfectly cooked, sliced, and served. Looked amazing and tasted even better! Those potatoes were incredibly tasty as well. We saved a little room for dessert and enjoyed what we got. Probably my favorite restaurant that I went to in Florence! Found this place based on a recommendation from a local and it did not disappoint. From first walking in, the setting was so cozy and romantic - dark rooms with lit candles and flowers. I was here with a few friends but this would be a perfect date night spot! Our server was very attentive which was great. I ordered the Hugo Spritz (Prosecco, elderflower liqueur, seltzer, lime, and mint) and it was so light and refreshing. A friend ordered the Aperol Spritz and enjoyed it as well (recommended mixing it). I ordered the tortelloni di scamorza affumicata con crema di patate, zafferano e spaghetti di zucchine (homemade smoked cheese tortellini with potato cream, saffron, and zucchini). It was amazing! The tortellini were huge and stuffed with cheesy, smoky filling. My friends also enjoyed the pappardelle with wild boar and the pici with lard and octopus. read more

We were traveling to Florence and had to try Bisteca Fiorentina. I looked up steak restaurants on another app and booked a reservation for Oliviero! Staff was super friendly and attentive. And our waiter was quite funny and a delight. We ordered filet with truffle and foigras dishes, salmon and green rice (so good) , truffle pasta, asparagus, potatoes, and tiramisu. Really great tasting food! Delicious! But the service here is 5 stars! And the chef was super friendly. When we were leaving, the sky opened up and just started pouring rain. He called the taxi for us and really came through for us, as we didn't speak a lick of Italian and trying to translate on your phone in hard rain was stressful enough. This review is way overdue, but a group of friends and I travelled to Italy last year and our Airbnb happened to be in the same building on top of Oliviero. We had had the Florentine steak at other restaurants prior to this night but had not been too impressed up until this point. Can I just say this place knocked it out of the park? Best steak we had in Florence and our two friends who live in/are from Florence loved it too. The rest of the food was great too, although I had some shells in my risotto. Service was amazing. The staff really connected with our table which was probably annoying for the rest of the diners with how loud we got. But we ended the night with some piano playing from both the servers and people in our group. I will always remember this night in Firenze thanks to Oliviero. read more

The hotel we were staying at next door recommended Oliviero's very highly, and it did not disappoint. This place was one of the best meals my husband and I had so far in our travels to Italy, including places in Turin, Venice, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. We came in without a reservation and the man that greeted us was so nice he let us sit at a very quaint bar for us to wait for a table. He then gave us each a complimentary glass of Prosecco, which was delicious. We were seated within a half hour (not a long wait for any standards, especially without a recommendation). We ordered the Filetto di manzo alla Rossini and Tagliolini con fonduta di pecorino e tartufo fresco. Also paired with a bottle of red wine and dessert. Easily the worst steak that I had while in Firenze. For the price per kg (80 euros) it was amazing how many pieces were chewy or difficult to eat. I'm sure that the quality of the steak was not matched with the price. My girlfriend had a meal covered with too much balsamic vinegar as if to mask the quality of the steak and foie gras. Service was not great. We had to call on the server every time we needed something. I believe in the end they gave me a lower quality steak and called it Bistecca alla Fiorentina thinking I would not know the difference. read more

Our dinner was on 8/21/2019 in Florence Italy Three weeks before our arrival we asked our hotel to make a reservation to a good restuarant near our hotel. This was the first one, we had reservation for 8:00 PM, we arrived on time. My review for this restuarant is divided to two parts: great and terrible Great: 1- we welcomed by very professional and caring staff 2- the staff explained the dishes and made some recommendations and also picked the right wine for us. 3- first course, appetizer, was great and we enjoyed it very much. Terrible part: 1- waited long time about 30-40 min for first course but we had no complaint 2- other tables, a table for 8, told us we are waiting for dinner for the past two hours and they were pretty upset and without food they paid their bill and left. 4- before the 8 customers walked out, the waiter and manager went to kitchen and ask if the cook can hurry up. 5- before you know it, we heard the cook broke dishes and some fight broke out 6- about two or three min later, at 10:06 pm, the waiter came and apologized that we have no food, as the cook walked out! Too late to go anywhere else and we ended up going back to hotel without much to eat. The manager apologized and told us, he would talk to owner and make sure to replace the staff's. Terrible, terrible experience. We expected some compensation, or at least not to pay for the first course, wouldn't you? read more

A wonderful, traditional Tuscan meal in an sophisticated restaurant that's a cut above most of the trattorias in the area. Oliviero has an interesting menu and an outstanding wine list from which I picked a Montepulciano that was one of the best wines that we had on our recent trip to Umbria and Tuscany. Likewise, the staff are attentive without being overbearing and really seem to enjoy what they do...a rarity in Florence. My only complaint about Oliviero is the general "heaviness" of the food. Although excellently prepared, most dishes were quite filling. This made it a challenge for the Frogette and I to get to the end of the meal with any interest in dessert. In addition, despite the general excellence of the cuisine and dining experience, Oliverio was not *the best* meal that we had on our trip. I'd give them a 4.5 star review if I could, but the 5-star review is for another restaurant. Nonetheless, I'd have no reluctance in recommending Oliviero for a special meal while you're in Florence. read more

Having tried a few places suggested to us from our Villa's helpful booklet we stumbled on this place, in the main part thanks to the suggestion from the owner of the Enoteca nearby. What a piece of advice! The bistecca alla fiorentina was mouth wateringly good. Attentive staff, riedel wine glasses, a discreet cocktail bar with mini grand piano. The background music included Herbie Hancock, Ornella Vanoni, Amy Winehouse and Massive Attack. The revolving door entrance hides what is a superb secret in one of Italian's most beautiful cities. The wine list is extensive with a bias towards Tuscan reds/whites. Avoid the restaurants in the piazzas and go here, you won't be disappointed. read more

Got there at 7 starved from traveling all day & the night before. We were seated promptly & the water & champagne was already poured by the time we were putting our napkins on our lap. A great assortment of breads came out including a delish focaccia with some olive oil. An unexpected hor dourve of a tomato dish with onions, pasta, & basil that was fantastic came next. We ordered appetizers first and went with the burrata, risotto, & spring truffle dish. All delicious & super filling, especially the risotto which I highly recommend. Great wine list with a fabulous red that one of the staff there recommended. For entrees, we had the filet, duck, & sea bass. Filet was great with the potatoes, my sister was a happy gal. The duck was unique & yummy with the pear & ginger sauce. The sea bass was great for my mom & I though my dad found it a bit fishy for his taste. Overall a great, extremely filling meal that left no room for the cheese tasting or dessert menu. Definitely recommend it for its friendly staff & sophisticated, calm atmosphere, just don't over order because the food is filling! read more
