My kids enjoyed the unique books, along with the comfy seating in the back of the store. In addition to a great book selection, they have a variety of gifts and unique puzzles. We ended up buying a few books along with a fun, Japanese, dog-surfing puzzle that both our kids agreed was a really fun one. The prices were very reasonable and the store was just so well curated. I would love to come back here again on a future trip.

I remember trekking up the hill to Main Street books as an undergrad at Frostburg State University for both personal and academic books. The store has a warm ambiance that feels like a big hug. So after walking around the downtown area(which is small and quaint) and visiting several of the different specialty shops, local restaurants, cafes, and all of the antique/thrift stores(from whom we purchased a wide variety of new and old books from). I was stoked to see this place after not being in Downtown Oakland since my daughters mothers brother lived right up the street from this place. I know, I know. Haha :) First off, the exterior is very alluring and draws you in and that's what made me and my friend want to enter, look around and purchase as many books as possible because we both love a good bookstore and reading. Though that wouldn't be the case because when I opened the door for us to walk into this establishment we were met at the door by a super rude lady who said we weren't allowed to enter the business unless we had on masks, but not a single business in Oakland had this policy except them. Smh! Welp... You lost my money.

The store is very large, but with a sparse inventory. There are a few new books up front and then more used books (but it's definitely not as well stocked as most used bookstores I've been to) in the back. I was able to find something interesting and random that I'm sure I wouldn't have found anywhere else, and the customer service while checking out was great. The highlight of my visit was definitely petting Alice, the store cat. I woke her up from her cat nap on her cat couch, and we had a nice little cuddle session. She's a charmer for sure. Not a bad place to browse if you are in the neighborhood and have some time, but it's definitely not packed with books to browse through!

Sooooo unfortunately, only two stars. However, this place has a bookstore cat, Alice, and if I could give her 10 stars, I would. The main reason to come here, TBH.

Great selection of Vintage Science fiction paperbacks. Prices are fair. Definitely beats ordering…read moresingle issues online . My issue is the large modern price stickers. Yes, easily removable on a gloss surface, generally. HOWEVER, direct-to-paper pricing stickers are a complete dealbreaker for 1960s-1980s matte paperbacks. Vintage paperbacks from publishers like Ace, DAW, and Ballantine used uncoated covers. Trying to peel them off with alcohol or ever a dryer ruin the book's value and is heartbreaking for lovers of old paperbacks. It's unfortunate.

It's not huge but it has a lot of variety and the prices are fairly reasonable for what is offered. What's really cool about the place is that they not only have the regular used books selection, they also have a good handful of vintage, pulp fiction type paperbacks from the '50s and earlier. They also have a good selection of First Editions that they keep under lock and key and go for some serious bucks. Of course, being in a WV tourist destination, they also have a little area for locally made soaps and lotions and the like. Not a lot. Just enough to make a couple more bucks. If you like browsing through a used book store, this is a great place to spend some time.
