There Jim Rivers has been setting up his steel hot dog stand for nearly 14 years now, and is there almost everyday beginning at 11:30 - he misses some days because he also sets up at the North Carolina State Fair each year. He steams his weiners - Red Hots (neon red Southern weiner)for $1,50, Nathans All Beef for $2.00, Jalapeno (with the pepper already in the weiner) for $2.50, and a Sausage dog, also for $2.50. His toppings(whatever you want at no additional charge) include mustard, ketchup (ugh!), chili, onions, slaw, mayo (double ugh!), cheese, sauerraut, red onion (foo foo), and relish (we get visitors from the far north). The Red Hot is your basic Southern Chili dog with a weiner of questionable parentage, chile, onions and/or slaw, on a nice, soft bun. This is a very good hot dog. The chili is not home made since the All Knowing, All Seeing Wake County government has decided that only brick and mortar restaurants can prepare such items in their duly and regularly inspected kitchens - this apparently is true even if the rating is not particularly good. Jim uses Patterson's Grand Slam All Beef Chili, which is available in 5 pound tubs or #10 cans. This is very good commercially prepared chili, right up there with Matinee brand used by Allen & Son in Chapel Hill. The Nathan's All Beef hot dog with chili, mustard, and Jim's slaw is an outstanding slaw dog - one of the best I've tried, and I've tried more than a few. The quality of the weiner reals comes thru, and is very well showcased by the soft bun, tasty chili, and not too sweet mayo based slaw. On my next visit, I'll try the Jalapeno dog and the Sausage dog instead of the All Beef - well, probably in addition too it. Jim is friendly and personable, the service is quick, the pricing reasonable - there is no seating available, but sitting in an airconditioned auto munching several dogs ain't at all bad.

The menu is pork-centric, featuring several varieties of thinly pounded pork chops. Tried 2 of them. The first is a char grilled boneless pork chop, topped with pickled peppers, arugula. It's served on ciabatta bread, slathered with a sambal-based aioli. The meat is tender and moist, the aioli just spicy enough to stimulate the taste buds. The second is Korean-marinated pork, topped with pickled carrots, Korean radish & cilantro. The marinate adds a touch of sweetness, which contrasts beautifully with the tangy pickled carrots and tart radish. Shout out to the arancini (deep fried risotto balls). They provided my wife a "pager", and the order didn't take long to come out. This thing was great, packed with flavor, the horseradish cream sauce, was very mild, but still added a small, but great bite to the overall sandwich. I'd 100% get this again, or any of their other tasty sounding sandwiches. In addition to their panini's the also offered strawberries covered in a chocolate sauce for dessert, that looked and sounded great, but we'll have to report back on our next visit.

It was steaming hot and the sun was strong, but we persevered. I went with the lamb chops and the collard greens. The meat options were brisket, ribs, chicken wings and lamb chops. The sides were Mac & Cheese, potato salad, and collard greens. The food was smack your momma delicious. The lamb chops were sooo tender and tasty. There was a sweet salty taste that I can't describe. The collards had a similar sweet salty taste, but with a small kick of spice. The food was so good that I've been stalking where their food truck will be. I highly recommend.

Second brisket over a square of cornbread and baked beans, topped with shr3dded cheddar and that same bbq sauce. Both are generous portions of brisket. Everything is prepared by Jason, the owner of Drunktank Grill, and he DEFINITELY does it right. He'll greet you and get your food with a cheerful word and send you on your way to enjoy an excellent meal. We got two cheese steaks, the classic and the garlic sandwiches. Absolutely banging! Perfectly cooked meat, a perfect amount of cheese and an extra cup of his garlic aoli (pro tip: the sandwich didn't need it, Jason the owner got the seasoning right when he put the sandwich together). They do have their own delivery drivers, or you can go pick up your food. Definitely order from his website, because Door Dash has started adding excessive mark-ups ($3 for fries, $3 seems to be the Door Dash markup for everything), I'd rather spend more with Jason than give it to Door Dash. Overall, the food was excellent. The "regular" order of his excellent seasoned fries was easily enough for two. Drunktank Grill is definitely a go-to spot, not to be missed and Jason is a genuinely nice guy!
