So, I was in town for three nights and I stopped here twice... I stopped here after my dinner at The District and ordered a scoop of Heath Supreme. It was very good. Creamy with a little bit of heath pieces in it. Then I decided to go for one of their "fall flavors" and ordered the Caramel Apple Pie. This one was a cinnamon ice cream with caramel swirled in and a little bit of apple in it. I wish there had been more apple pieces in it but that's not too big of a deal. It also helps that a block away, they have a plaza that looks out on a river. read more

I recently moved to Eau Claire this summer and NEEDED an ice cream shop that could fill my sweets cravings (which I have often). And Olson's has not disappointed one bit! They have a variety of flavors to choose from and even roll out new ones for different seasons (like Caramel Apple Pie for the fall!) My girlfriend and I just tried the brownie sundae thanks to the help of Mary Kate & Kinzie (amazing & friendly staff!) and it was worth every penny. I also love the fact that you can swap the vanilla scoops for 3 scoops of your choice. Eau Claire,Wi. I get that a lot of people really like this kind of crap. Not my thing though. Every flavor is a sugar express to a hypoglycemic reaction. If the so called ice cream is not enough sugar, they dump cookies and brownies and other assorted sweetness enhancers. Still not enough sugar? Try adding some syrup!! Basic vanilla had a fair creamy texture, but not like a premium ice cream. No vanilla taste, just sugar. The Mackinac had some kind of fudge cookie in it, lots of sweetness plus. The other flavors were more of the same. When I come to this music festival(Blue Ox),I usually indulge in ice cream every day. Thank you Olsons for making sure once was enough. read more

The lemon poppy seed ice cream was fantastic! They also make their own popcorn. I tried the caramel & cheddar popcorn. They do have a deli as well. However, I believe the shop is only selling waffles, ice cream, & popcorn as of right now. I paid a little over $8 for a waffle cone with a generous scoop of ice cream, & a small bag of popcorn. I thought the price was great for the quality. I will definitely visit again next time I visit Eau Claire. read more

Very nice local ice cream shop. I get a concoction called Cherry Garden. I describe it as the delightful combination of all the delicious stuff at the bottom of a banana split. Last time they ran out of waffle cones with chocolate and sprinkles. Sprinkles is my favorite flavor. We must endure! Nice young folks work here. Sometimes there is a long line but everyone behaves and it goes quick. I haven't been to Ramones , I feel like that would be disloyal. I recommend Olson's without reservation . read more

This is the creamy delight I had been waiting for all my life. This gem is hiding right under our picky noses. There was a queue stretching out of the shop when we went there and for good reason. They have many flavors and service is friendly. We tried the strawberry, banana, chocolate, coffee flavors and they were all very good. The ice cream is really creamy and has perfect texture when it melts in my mouth. Also our kids loved it a lot. The seating space is sufficient but best to get a cone and roam around downtown while enjoying the tasty delight. We will come back here often. read more

I loved Olsons in Chippewa Falls, but the drive there from Eau Claire was inconvenient since we normally didn't have business over there. Now with Olson's ice cream opening in Eau Claire, we can enjoy them more often. While Ramones has tasty waffle cones, Olson's ice cream creaminess and flavor is superior to Ramones. I use mint chocolate chip as my standard comparison ice cream and Olson's is just as good as Flayvors ice cream back in Amherst, MA. As a result Olson is fated to be a regional juggernaut as they keep expanding their distribution. If you want their half gallon ice cream for the freezer at home, check out either their location or I know festival foods keeps their product in stock too. read more

Walked from home to the New Olson's. Breakfast and lunch are served at this location.There is a coffee bar where Colectivo coffee is served. I had one of the soufflés (listed as gluten free). It was good. Of course, Olson's is noted for its ice cream, and the number of ice creams and ice cream treats available is extensive. read more

I have sampled this Ice Cream on and off for years. The flavors that they have can be very good. The base ice cream is not. It is full of additives and fillers. Yuck Ask for the ingredients list if you don't believe me. In the dairy state of Wisconsin, I am amazed that I cannot find some awesome homemade ice cream that is simply good. So it's UWEC Parents weekend and busy..I get that. After patiently waiting in line for the two servers to help others and run the cash register, it's my turn. I order a large chocolate shake and a dish with two scoops. Rather than making the shake first, she begins to scoop ice cream...apparently runs out, and disappears for at least 5 minutes to fetch another container of ice cream from the back. finally returns and starts to scoop, but drops the scoop on the floor (while the partial scoop has been sitting over 5 minutes). after another scoop is placed in the dish, she bends over and picks the scoop off the floor with the scooper hand. scoops more of my ice cream without washing the same hand! finally gives me the dish, and helps another customer way behind me. over 10 minutes later the other guy finally makes my shake AFTER making a shake for the large gr behind....10-15 minutes later, my two scoops are melted. Hey, at least I was charged $24 for those two and caramel corn. We are locals and visit often. The guy who made my shake after the large group behind me, admonished me for asking where my shake was. We likely won't return. read more
