Was in Chippewa Falls for the week visiting family, and this is the only food place we visited more than once. Now Dina and I have eaten ice cream literally all over the world, from gelato spots in Italy, super creamy ice cream in Germany, Lappert's in Kauai, and oh so many other places, and Olson's is as good as anywhere we have been. By far our favorite place to stop and get an ice cream treat! Olson's offers such a wide variety of flavors, the ice cream is made right there by the fzmily, and it tastes amazing! They also offer numerous flavors for sale in tubs that you can take home! During the sfternoon, they offer a food menu as well, and the food is well-made and good quality. The burgers are angus beef, with large cuabotta buns. Their hot hame and cheese sandwich is,sways a favorite, and don't forget to try one of their famous malts! Some might say the price is a bit high for an ice cream cone, I say it's worth every penny! You will not find better ice cream than at Olson's! read more

On our way to the Twin Cities we stopped in for a treat. The service was very friendly and the ice cream was delicious. If you can't eat a huge portion, ask for a smaller size. It was still plenty for me. My only complaint was that there were too many choices. :). So hard to choose which flavor to buy. All looked so good. I don't consider it summer until I've had my first Olson's Ice Cream cone of the season I grew up in Chippewa Falls, where Olson's is an icon. Since moving to Minneapolis in 2004, it's one of the places I'm sure to hit up when I go back home to visit family. I have also made it a required stop whenever I bring friends from the twin cities back with me -- and they are never disappointed. One of my favorite things is the flavor variety- they have all of the classics like cookie dough, cookies and cream, mint chip, strawberry, etc, but I prefer more of the unique flavors you'll rarely find anywhere else. Some of my favorites: -Chocolate Monster -Maple Nut -Green Tea Raspberry (seasonal - summer) -After Dinner Mint and Peppermint Stick (seasonal - winter) -Glacier Bay Lemon -Mocha Mud Pie (a great breakfast treat - :) -Octoberfest (seasonal - fall --made with Leinenkugel's Beer -- how cool is that?!) If you are anywhere near the area, it's a place to hit. Oh -- and the servings are generous -- the "regular" or even "child's size" is plenty of ice cream for most people. This review was written about 6 months ago, and I didn't have much to say about their food items... because I didn't think there was much to say. The last time I stopped in, there was a new menu with lots of new/refreshed items. I had the Mediterranean chicken salad... delicious! There are also some paninis on the menu I'd like to try. My only complaints are that- I wish Olson's sold food items for the dinner hour as well and on Sundays (they currently don't). Also, during busy times it is really difficult to find a place to sit (small place with not a ton of seating). read more

Honestly, things have gone downhill since the new year. The quality of the deli items doesn't have the same touch, and I can't quite put my finger on it.
