We are SO glad we bought our spa from Olson's! We don't live in Big Bear Lake; instead, we're in Claremont, i.e., quite far from Big Bear. But we were turned off by all the other dealers in the rest of the LA region--and we checked out many, and came up rather disgusted with what we found, especially the high-pressure tactics. From concept to completion, Olson's is THE BEST to work with. Jennifer provided honest estimates over the phone, and aided in all the logistics behind having the spa ordered and delivered. Our spa was a giant pain in the A, as we needed a crane service to place our spa over our house from a neighbors property; and we needed to get neighbor approval, and were trying to get our electrical permitting moving along. Jennifer was able to secure a crane service nearby (Schroeder and Son), who did an excellent job, and we were able to have the spa in place and working a few days after. Steve has been excellent in spa installation, and came back quickly when we needed the spa cover lifter installed, and then was helpful us right away with an issue of a low water level (due to my kids splashing; and he topped it off and didn't charge for it). Normally I don't do these kinds of reviews but.... I want to share my recent experience with Steve Olson AKA "Olson's Spa Service" in hopes of informing others who may consider hiring him for services. Unfortunately, my experience with Steve has been less than satisfactory. I hired Steve to install a Wi-Fi module for my hot tub. Despite initial promises for a working Wi-Fi control, the installation was incomplete as far as I'm concerned due to the module not working or even turning on as intended. Nowhere was it originally stated that I was responsible for connecting the Wi-Fi to the router. Also, it was never mentioned beforehand that Steve wasn't familiar with this particular WiFi module. Had I known upfront I wouldn't have hired him. After attempting to connect it myself and seeking assistance from GECKO tech support, it became evident that the module was not working correctly. When approached about the issue, Steve was non-responsive for extended periods and did not take responsibility for ensuring the job was completed as agreed upon and or assumed upon. Furthermore, I've recently received a request for payment and threat of debt collection under false pretenses for work that was either incomplete or unsatisfactory. This has added frustration to an already disappointing situation. Called Olson spa for an emergency repair as it quit heating and we're In freezing conditions. I spoke to Jennifer who patched in a call to Steve Olson after she gave me instructions on troubleshooting my spa. Super professional. When the troubleshooting failed, Steve arrived within 45 minutes and diagnosed the failed recirculating pump quickly. I hired Olson's Spas two weeks ago to service the jacuzzi in my short term rental. The first week was fine because we did not have any guests (Covid shutdown). The following week, I had a few reservations. When I hired Steve, I informed him that I had a busy house. For health and safety, I provide service prior to the arrival of each guest. I had TWO no shows by his technician this week! No apologies, no assurances that the problem would be taken care of. The next scheduled visit was yesterday, June 2. At approximately 2:00 p.m. I started to get concerned - I still did not have any service. I called the office. NO answer! I texted the owner, Steve Olson. NO response. Finally, at about 2:45 p.m. I called Steve. NO answer again. I called again a few minutes later and he answered. I told him my concern and issues with the service he was providing. I told him it was unacceptable. I'm sure you can agree! I was not being provided with the service I was paying for, heard numerous excuses and was lied to! I feel Olson's Spas is highly unprofessional and incompetent. After my experience, I would never recommend Olson's Spas to another owner. I'm giving a one star because I received an email this morning that Mr. Olson's wife didn't like the way I spoke to Mr. Olson and therefore, they were no longer able to service my hot tub. Steve Olson is the best spa repairman in the business. He replaced a motor a few years ago on my 1980's Sundance spa. No one else could help or would not even try to help me. Steve searched for a week and found a replacement motor. He and his wife installed it and it works like new again. He has since fixed a plumbing leak in my spa. One night my spa water overheated and spa jests were not coming on. I reached out to Steve, he told me I just need to find a reset button. He saved me a service call. Recently he has helped me troubleshoot via text messages and photos on a problem on my timer on a Sunday. He took the time to help me fix my problems and save me the cost of a service call. You will never get this kind of service from anyone else today, yesterday or in the future. I pray he never retires. Steve knows his stuff and is super helpful. He couldn't figure out how to install new parts on our Hot Springs spa at our cabin in Big Bear.
