Marco and his team has been great, responsive and met our expectations. We are part-time Big Bear residents for the last 8+ and finding someone reliable is a challenge. When we were searching for a company recently this year, we required proof of photos of each visit, along with the commitment to come out on expected days (2x's per month). Overall, we feel at ease that we have a team that is pretty diligent on providing the best quality of service in the area. I have already recommended you to Big Bear friends & locals in the management and realtor business. Thank you to your team! We appreciate your services.

Corroded display cover causing water to seep in and resulting in breaker tripping.

I started service with Blue Star Pool and Spas about 8 months ago after a previous spa maintenance company was refilling my spa and left the premises only to have me arrive and see it overflowing and the technician in a panic. Since that incident I was having continuous tripping of my breaker. So although the previous company replaced the heater, the breaker continued to trip anytime more than one guest was in the spa. Marco at Blue Star was very encouraging that he would offer better service and address the problem. At first, he was responsive and available anytime I had guests and either the breaker had tripped or the water was not clean from a previous guest (also not good). One time I was at the house the day after it was supposedly serviced and the water was disgusting. I had friends with me and we had to wait an extra day to use it because Marco had to empty and refill it and then we had to wait overnight while it reheated. Fast forward to about a month ago when I was getting into the hot tub with 2 friends and we couldn't use it because the breaker kept tripping. I sent Marco a text and got no response. I continued to press him on addressing the problem. The last thing I wanted was for the breaker to trip when guests are there. Marco delayed addressing it until the Friday before Labor Day weekend. Two of them were there for 25 minutes and I got no response from them afterwards so I figured it was fixed. Guests checked in the next day and within a few hours I got a text from them saying the breaker was tripping. I immediately reached out to Marco and his response was that there was nothing they could do since I was refusing to agree to either replacing the heater (which was replaced less than a year ago) or replacing the mother board, both costing me thousands of dollars with no assurance that it would fix the problem. I also did my own research and there is no connection to a breaker tripping and a faulty mother board. It came down to the fact that Marco didn't know what was causing the breaker to trip when people were in it and he was either not savy enough to figure it out or just didn't care. I had to look at another alternative because I had guests wanting to use the hot tub and Marco was refusing to come out and look at it. I found another local company who had great repair reviews and called them. They sent someone out within an hour on a holiday weekend. Within 10 minutes, he diagnosed the cause coming from a leak in the top jet control and said the seal had corroded. Ironically, I had been telling Marco that there had to be a leak or corrosion causing the tripping of the breaker. He resealed the top of it and now the breaker is no longer tripping. Such an easy fix from someone who knew what he was doing. One more thing I want to mention... Every time before getting in the spa, I'd test the water with a strip. Every single time, even if the spa had been serviced the day before, it showed all levels being off and virtually no chlorine or bromine in the water. Alkaline, pH and hardness were also always off. When I complained about this to Marco, he'd say they use a different method for checking the water levels, which I knew, and that's why my strip showed different levels. Huh? The method they used (drops in water) and alway included pictures of in their maintenance trip meant nothing to me and was never explained. I don't buy it. Blue Star replaced my spa top for me but has still not anchored the safety clips, which is a safety requirement for all short term rentals. I guess not a priority for them even though it is for me and my guests. Overall, they showed up weekly, not on the day they were supposed to but reliable. But what did they do when they were there? It didn't appear that they were adding chemicals. They did clean the filter weekly. That's probably the only positive. They didn't address my ongoing issue with the breaker tripping and they left the spa dirty between guests, which cannot happen with a short term rental. So I can't recommend this company. Their prices may be reasonable but in this case, you aren't even getting what you pay for. Quality service is too important and Blue Star is missing quality. And I don't think they have the technical training to diagnose spa repairs without guessing, resulting in the consumer spending thousands of dollars in repairs unnecessarily. It's tough to find good service in Big Bear Lake so keep looking because they are out there.

    Leak from broken vent knob

Amazing Service! I had a vent cap break on my spa causing a leak over Memorial Day weekend. Blue Star was the only place that answered my call and was super helpful in getting my spa back running that evening. They had the parts I needed , and provided them at no cost, and my spa was fixed quickly. Thank you Blue Spa. Dave

I called on a Sunday morning requesting to get my spa removed. I was so pleased that he answered my call right away and came over to provide an estimate within one hour! I was worried that my backyard would be too tight to remove the jacuzzi, but they came over the same day after a long workday and got the whole crew to take it out, all for a reasonable price. The best! Highly recommend. Very professional and reliable: they show up and take care of it without the long wait or breaking the budget. Would definitely hire them again.

Spa didn't heat up. Ran for 4 hours and went from 86 to 88. Horrible to place at an Airbnb.

Today, I caught their crew draining a completely green, contaminated hot tub directly into the protected forest terrain. I personally called the main office to complain, and the owner of the company was shockingly dismissive. He told me to "go ahead and report it" because he claims it isn't illegal since "the water is green and has no chemicals."This is completely false and a severe environmental violation. Because of the massive volume of wastewater they dumped, the green water rushed straight down the hill and actively entered the natural creek bed behind our properties, directly polluting the delicate Big Bear Lake watershed.I have full, timestamped video evidence showing the hot tub water flooding the forest and sending wastewater off the deck into the backyard that drains into the creek. I have already submitted this footage alongside a formal complaint to San Bernardino County Code Enforcement and the California Water Boards. If you care about protecting our local mountain environment and avoiding a company whose own ownership flouts local environmental laws, avoid E & E Spa Service entirely.
