Olympia is a Greek & Mediterranean restaurant local and beloved to Lowell. My best friend introduced me to this spot last year after a while of asking me to go with him sometime. He told me "if you want some of the best Greek food nearby we go here." He was not wrong. The environment of Olympia is very homey. It has a small bar and the dining area has a slightly fancy sort of flair while still feeling like a pub. It nails ambiance and warm lighting well to make you feel welcome. The staff are quite friendly and knowledgable on the food. They are always happy to help. Most times I go here I am a creature of habit and range between my favorite Mediterranean dish: pasticcio with potatoes in red wine sauce. The food is overall very flavorful and fun as far as tastes go. You cab really tell this is a mom and pop place. read more

Olympia was an average Greek restaurant. Portions were generous but mostly filler sides (potatoes and rice) with very little of the main dish. For an equivalent price, several places would give a side salad, a larger main, tzatziki, and more fresh items. Prices are higher than usual for similar food. Oh Olympia Restaurant, how I love thee, let me count the ways. You cannot find better authentic-styled Greek food in the area. The food exudes love and flavor. If you are looking for a modern interior and ambiance this isn't it but trust me the food is delicious and authentic. I have not had a bad meal here, everything is flavorful. Whenever I am in the area, I always choose to go here. They ask so host mercy meals and I believe still have functions held here. Parking is available on the premises (limited) and there is additional street parking on Market St. and on neighboring streets. Had a last minute need to make a reservation for a 15-20 person birthday party and the lovely staff at Olympia came through for us so graciously, setting us up in the Acropolis Room, which was both private and also was laid out beautifully for our group so that we could all be seated together at one table. Everything was crisp, clean, and the women who served us were so kind and so accommodating of the dietary needs of a few people in my party. Service was super quick, accurate, and all the food was truly delicious. I have been to Olympia many times as a guest at other functions, and I can see why people choose it for these things. Hi Last Sunday we ate around 3PM. I had stuffed cabbage with lemon sauce Ate nothing after that. 1AM woke up with severe cramps and everything else that goes with it. FOOD POISONING!!!! While visiting Lowell, some colleagues and I visited the Olympia. It was clear that it has a loyal clientele as the dining room filled just after our arrival. It is beautifully decorated with chandeliers, a blue mirrored wall, and columns. The service was great, the atmosphere was calm, and we discovered some delicious Greek wines. We enjoyed stuffed grape leaves in lemon sauce, chicken kabobs, the lamb salad, and moussaka. Next door is the Zorba Music Hall and Holy Trinity Church is across the street. Usually great Greek food in an authentic setting. My coworkers and I have loved their specialty salads for a long time. Unfortunately, the last couple of times we ordered them, they were pretty disappointing. Mostly iceberg lettuce (very little tomato/cucumber/onion, etc.), the gyro was dry and overcooked, and the angel hair pasta was practically non-existent. To pay almost $20 for a salad is a bit much, especially if it isn't up to par. We know everything costs more these days, and it isn't a problem to pay more if you are getting a quality product. This place is back on the map. I stopped going for a few years. I think ownership changed. Ive had 2 great experiences in the last 6 days. The broiled haddock with rice and potato was unbelievable. Extremely tender and tasty. Also had the house salad with feta. Ask them to dice the tomatoes it's better. Grape leaves were also outstanding. The waitresses were outstanding. When we walked in on a Thursday night there was only 1 other couple; we should have left but I felt rude. We ordered and then I saw a mouse run across the dining room floor and under a booth. I had a hard time eating after that with my mind wondering how many more were in the kitchen. I ordered a chicken kebab salad, but instead was given a meal. The manager told me she could give me a salad for an up charge - I was speechless to that suggestion. I just told the manager to forget it, especially since I knew I couldn't eat anyways and they were not going to be helpful. The server was nice and apologized for the mistake but never fixed it or adjusted the bill. We had small bugs flying around us during dinner too. I wish I spoke up and left and didn't spend $85 there. I was debating not leaving a review, but the fact the number of stars on this restaurant is over 3 makes me feel obligated to tell our story. read more

I was there for a mercy meal yesterday. The fish dinner they served was terrible. Several guests came to me to say that it was UNEATABLE. (How embarrassing for us, the family.) After that disgusting meal I noticed on several tables the coffee cups were still upside down. I asked the waiter if he offered them coffee. He said he did. I asked several tables if he did and he did NOT offer anyone coffee. The wait staff would not take drink orders so my guests had to go to the bar. You should also be totally embarrassed by the condition of your restrooms. They are also disgusting!! Shame on all of you from the kitchen staff, to the wait staff, to the cleaning crew. Good but not great. Probably reasonably authentic, the way a good American Italian restaurant is authentic. Really good "Greek strike zone cuisine." If you go, get the stuffed grape leaves and spanikopita. Drink Ouzo; don't order a Martini (not difficult, but he missed anyway). The baklava was tasty, but a bit dry (unlike the Martini). It is what it is, and does that well. It isn't inexpensive, but probably not overpriced. Our waitress, Jen, had a great attitude and took very good care of us. And "Zorba fries" are food service fries served with some sort of spice mix sprinkled on them. Don't bother. read more

You can tell right away that this place hasn't been redecorated in ages - and sometimes I honestly can't understand the waiters and waitresses due to their accents - but I'd say they have the best Greek food in the area. While the atmosphere doesn't quite live up to that of Athenian Corner, the food is better. I'm actually kind of surprised this place is still in business, since there's always very few people there, but I am so glad it is. I can't quite count how many times I've been here, but I've always had a good experience and I've always enjoyed my food. I'm a vegetarian, and my typical strategy is to get a few appetizers and share them with whoever I'm with, so I can't say much about the entrees. I love the feta cheese, spinach pie, and zorba fries. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Lowell area looking for Greek. read more

Came here years ago (before Yelp?!) and it was good enough...unfortunately today will likely be our last visit. 4 of us had 7pm reservation, got seated at a table for 8. Difficult for all of us to talk. Food: 2 of us ordered an app platter for dinner. Disappointing- sent back because it all items were cold. Came back warmer when the other folks were nearly done eating, still wasn't tasty (soggy spanakopita, dry meatballs, mushy mousaka). Good fries. Guys liked their lamb kabobs (Asian style means with opinions and peppers - what?) Service: waitress was very sympathetic, and got us an appropriate credit on the check for which we were grateful. Overall service was slow (they have a big comedy function running in parallel tying up the bar and kitchen). Seems like they should have these challenges worked out after having been in business for generations. They're trying to make it right, but I won't bother coming again. Great greek food in an area with limited greek. They make an excellent Pastitsio. The Village salad for two is huge and really authentic Greek salad. The Saganaki isn't flaming at the table but tastes great. We had a lovely server and although the place is definitely dated, it has a very old school charm to it. It is blue everywhere which is very Greek. The only downside was obviously not freash Gyro. The setup was perfect with excellent tzatziki sauce but to have frozen gyro is a crime. read more

Came here for lunch on a Saturday with my folks. It wasn't that busy so we were able to get street parking right out front and was seated right away. The decor is ... Blue. Lots and lots of blue. Other than that it definitely had the vibe of a neighborhood mom and pop restaurant. I got the chicken kebob entree which came with rice and a potato with a red sauce on top. I was very satisfied with the juiciness of the chicken and how tasty the potato was. That have allot of different Greek food here and it's easy to see why they've been around for so long. read more

For my last dinner in Westford, I decided to try out Olympia; I'm glad I did! The very cozy appointments, warm atmosphere the friendly and attentive staff in it self makes it worth the trip. The food closes the deal! I had the surf & turf and selected the Salmon and chick shish kabob. The salad was amazing and was fresh and includedlettuce, spinach, carrots, onions, Greek olives and feta cheese. Not just yellow lettuce like i had at Athenia's Corner earlier this week! The bread was fresh, but the entree - it was absolutely delicious! My salmon was prepared to perfection and the chicken was fabulous and succulent. Disappointed in our first experience here. Heard good things from two people... one who grew up in the area and referred to this as the "best place for Greek food in the area" and from another fairly "regular" patron so we (hubby and friend) had to try it. Arrived on a Saturday late afternoon/early evening and the bar was busy but the seating area off to the left of the front door was not ... which is where we were seated. Our waitress greeted us right away with menus and offered drinks, we opted for water. She didn't seem overly friendly at first but when we mentioned it was our first time, she was much more welcoming. We asked what their "must have dish(es)" are and she quickly said any of the lamb dishes, then mentioned the baked stuffed haddock when I asked for non-lamb specialties. She also suggested the small appetizer sampler of Pastitsio, Mousaka, Grape Leaves, Meatballs & Spinach Pie. Bread and butter were served as we perused the menu. We found the options for sides rather confusing so she explained it to us ... something we would have never figured out ourselves (the difference between garnish, all vegetables, rice & potatoe). The bread was VERY good, soft on the inside and very tasty. We decided on the small appetizer sampler, baked stuffed haddock with the zorba fries, the surf (broiled haddock) and turf (chicken kebabs) with all vegetables and the lamb chops with rice and garnish. Not sure how the small appetizer platter is re-heated because some parts were hot, some luke warm and some cold. The two spinach pie pieces were luke-warm to cold, there were 3 meatballs and the one in the middle was cold, the ones on the ends of the platter were hot, the pastitsio was warm on the outside, cold toward the center of the platter. The mousaka was my favorite in terms of taste and the grape leaves had meat which was a nice surprise to our Lebanese friend who expected them to be vegetarian. If the platter were hot throughout, I think we would have enjoyed it more. Our entrees arrived shortly and the baked stuffed haddock portion looked minuscule in comparison to the other two dishes. At times, it was hard to tell if the stuffing contained the shrimp, crab ingredients in the stuffing as all I could taste was the breading and herbs most fo the time but it was still pretty tasty. The zorba fries were excellent...best part of my meal. Hubby was happy with his surf and turf selection. The all vegetables he received was such a big portion, he was barely able to make a dent. Our friend was very disappointed in her lamb chops which looked overcooked before she even cut into them. The appeared to be more cut like country style ribs vs. chops. Ordered medium-rare, she expected redness as she cut each piece..only to find most of it medium well. When she flagged our waitress to show her, she didn't look happy to have to return the dish to the kitchen and said I'll make sure it comes back more rare. As she walked away, our friend commented "I bet it comes back raw". It took 10 minutes or so for the 2nd attempt to be delivered. Our waitress didn't bother to wait to have our friend cut into it. When she did, it was VERY rare. She ate a few bites and decided to take it home. Throughout dinner, our water glasses were empty many times and we had to ask to have them refilled. Hubby and I finished our dinners way before our friend as she was waiting for her 2nd serving of lamb chops so as she was picking through the 2nd serving, our waitress cleared our dishes and asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. A big "no-no" according to our friend who had been a waitress in the past. Overall decor outdated and the bathrooms in our dining area were VERY dated (60's/maybe 70's). Overall tab (tap water for drinks, no dessert) including tip was $107. Don't plan on returning, can think of better choices for that amount. read more

I attended an event here in the music hall part of the restaurant. I found this venue to be dirty and very overcrowded. I felt it could be a fire trap. The Dancefloor was very small. Our drinks came in small glass even though we ordered tall glass. There was eight of us in our party. We got there early had reservations they gave us a table with in which they called the balcony, we were going to be able to see the band easily. We arrive there at seven had some drinks ordered a food and at 8:30 one of the managers came over and said they needed to move us to a different table. They said they made a mistake and they had promised it to someone that made reservations a long time ago. so what we did to !!!I was a palled they would even ask us to move. We waited a very long time for food. The food was horrible. it was not even hot. The only positive note is the waitress was very good. The band was good when they were not on break, seem to take very long breaks. This is the first and last time I will ever go to this place. I found the manager rude so talk to a different manager and he was not much better. we did not bring up anything about how bad the food was. all we kept hearing was how short staffed they were.All we complained about was being moved and they didn't seem to care. read more

First, let's talk about the decor. It is dated ...maybe but it is in an authentic greek style. This is NOT new American cusine but authentic Greek food with the style to match. I think the "dirty" comments are more related to what is the perceived dated-ness of decor. It was much better than I expected after reading the comments. I could totally see large Greek families sitting down for meals here. The food was very good. We started our meal with the lemon soup which I loved. Great greek food, affordable prices, service a bit lacking (had to ask a couple of times for refills). Ordered the swordfish kabob with potato and rice (like a tomato based rice and stewed potato), swordfish was slightly charred from grilling and perfect. Pita bread and tazitki to start, my only wish was that it came with more pita! Decor could use an update, but the food here speaks for itself. Will definitely return! read more

My husband I went here for a rehearsal dinner on a Thursday night. I had never been but had heard great things about it. Most of our group ordered "lamb on a stick" and said it was fantastic - my husband had it and I saw you could pull it right off the bone (sorry..I don't eat lamb and think it's gross...but wanted to describe how tender it was). It came with rice and a potato that was also very good. I had shrimp scampi and it was absolutely delicious! Just the right amount of garlic and butter - think I gained a few pounds just typing that. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, considering we were a large group. The decor is simple - bright Greek blue in the first room and the second room we were in was mostly beige and white. They also have a projector tv (is that the way to say it? hehee) which was showing the Red Sox game which alot of our party enjoyed. I definitely plan to visit again and recommend you try it too!
