Charlotte County Girlfriends on Wednesday, Oct 8. Had lunch at Olympia's! Our server was fantastic! We we over 35 women, enjoy their lemon chicken orzo soup, or a small garden fresh salad. Many of the ladies order the spinach pie who said it was very good. Also they greek salad was fantastic. Or Chicken Skewer with various sides, gyro meat with sides, Gyro Platers. So, they finally reopened after a lengthy closure due to hurricane IAN. Fantastic!...... Almost. To this day you never know if they are open due to the poor signage. You would think after reopening they would want you to KNOW they ARE open! Been visiting them about every ten days to two weeks since reopening up until the last two weeks. Stopped in 3 times to find them closed. Stopped in today to find them closed and hrs. are now 7-2. Inconsistent hrs. are killing the place and not being able to know if you are open from 41 or not. This is our third time here. We remembered they had "all you could eat fish and chips on Wednesday" so here we are. Absolutely delicious, hot and fresh. And their baklava is out of this world! My wife and I decided to try the newly opened Olympia Restaurant located at 3245 Tamiami Trl, Port Charlotte. Right after Olean Blvd heading South and Tamiami. We had gone to the restaurant before Ian and were anxiously waiting for the reopening to happen. The first thing you will notice right away is that everything is bright and new. It is updated in a good way and you will feel right at home when you get seated. Our server was Leslie and it was her first night there. She had a ton of experience and you could tell she was a professional at what she did. She was a bit unfamiliar with the menu, which was OK, because so were we. I ordered the Greek Combo Platter and my wife ordered Spaghetti and meatballs. The food came out hot and tasty. We enjoyed our meal and we realize this is not the same Olympia that was there before. It certainly has a different ambiance and the menu is different. However, I feel that it has great potential. When we went, they just opened a couple of days before and they are working out the kinks and finding their balance. we will be back. The food is good and it will only get better and once people realize that it is open and actually better than before, they will be back. We will wait a month or so and try it again. I can't wait to see how they improve. You should give them a try! They could use the encouragement and we could use another great restaurant in Port Charlotte! read more

This had been a favorite. After a long closure due to hurricane damage it reopened with new owners. I went for breakfast. I was quickly seated and a friendly server took my order and brought coffe. It seemed to take an hour for food to come. I had to looke for my waitress because of the day. When it came the eggs were okay. The breakfast sausage tasted like sawdust. Then I waited and waited for the check. Finally I went to whom appeared to be the cashier. She did not acknowledge me. After about 10 minutes of watching her do something on her screen I asked to pay. She said that was my waitresses job. Finally I was able to pay and leave. Went there last night, stuffed pepper (1) small, other dish cabbage roll (same filling), green beans, cream orzo soup. Well, I was excited to try since remodeling. Ok, remodeling no ambiance, none. Booths were old, sunk down, and cheaply recovered. Lighting was awful, no decor, very cold and empty dining atmosphere. The green pepper (1) small was horrible, the meat inside was like mushy, (nothing like hamburger, mush)green pepper was way over cooked, green beans had like a vinegar taste, absolutely awful! Greeted by a person who needs a personality injection! Obviously didn't want to be there and certainly didn't want to serve us. We used to go there before the storm and before they were closed for two years love the service love the food love the people. Now the food was less than fresh too expensive and the person who served us should work in a mortuary! Overcooked and underspent on meat quality here to say the least. I ordered rare state medallions and it was worse than a steak and egg from a Denny's let me just tell you I've been not happy with them but at least I can eat half the meat. Of course sure these pot if he's were fine and the grapeview was okay I didn't eat the broccoli or the fresh fruit and the milk I ordered served warm and I asked for cold and the carrot cake is in the fridge cause it was melted to shit. We've ordered from Olympia for years. It is always great, except for potatoes. We use to order baked potatoes, but they were over cooked. You know the taste when they have sat trying to keep them hot. We started getting mashed potatoes, they were great, until the last few months, we started getting what tasted like an old baked potato mashed with gravy, that are lumpy. Let's try fries. The fries were wrapped in tinfoil, so you know they were soggy. We tried the mashed potatoes again today, and we didn't eat them. We have told them this. They say sorry. In the future we'll see if we can order a veggie instead of a potato, unless they go back to their previous mashed potato recipe. Obviously we love this place. We order out about once a week. Place has been refurbished and is nice and clean. The waitress was very polite and attentive. The menu is quite diverse and you have a good selection. The restaurant doesn't have window shades thus being in the morning the sun was coming right through the window and in our face. I ordered a specialty sandwich that consisted of a bagel, a sausage patty, and a poached egg topped with cheddar cheese, the waitress elected to charge me for a breakfast item that was on the menu and not breakdown the breakfast as a side when the bill arrived This breakfast was $14.50? I was not pleased, but I said OK let me give it a second try so I went back for lunch and then I ordered a Ryebread corned beef and Swiss sandwich with coleslaw. We waited quite long time for a cold sandwich to arrive when it arrived. It was a sandwich which looked like two thumbprints pushed into it, no fries. Presentation is everything it didn't look appetizing, tasted OK not wow not out of the park and the corn beef was skimpy. I won't be back again until things change. read more

The food was delicious, but service was very slow, and they charged us $2.00 a meal extra for our breakfast. The excuse was that they hadn't been able to get the menus reprinted with the new prices before they reopened. That's fine, but you should at least tell me that BEFORE I order and eat. Upon arriving, we noticed how dated the interior was. This place definitely needs a makeover for both menu and decor. Service however was good. I wouldn't say fantastic but it definitely did the trick. They have a very loyal following and many customers were called by their first names. I ordered the Greek Plate as it came with two items I could not pronounce. However, upon tasting them, I probably should've just ordered the Gyro lunch instead. It was bland with no flavor. Even the lamb meat was a bit dry but with a little Tzatziki sauce, we were good to go. You could tell the meat had been on the spindle for quite some time. Instead of tossing a ton of items on the menu, I would recommend zeroing in on the namesake of the restaurant and go from there. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner so I understand the variety. However, if I told you Olympia restaurant, you would think Greek food and not Creole, lemon chicken or anything like that. Great little diner, I had a club sandwich and fries and my wife and open faced roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes. Both were excellent with plenty leftover for dinner later. Carrot and Red Velvet cake were ordered to take home and both of those were delicious as well. Service was very fast and friendly, we will be making a return trip for sure. read more

It was our first time ordering at at Olympia. We ordered takeout of Chicken Linguini, Chicken Napolianto and Fish Filet Excelsior. All 3 dishes were delicious even though we ordered it for takeout and ate about 15 minutes later. Great flavor on all 3 dishes. Customer service was excellent and we will be back. read more

Haven't been there in awhile but we decided to have dinner there because it's usually pretty good. Especially their fish. So it's Fish Friday and that's what I ordered. DISGUSTING! My wife and I had a great experience due to Lorie our wonderful server and of course, the food. First off, I was just put on an acid reflux diet which means no vinegar, no tomatoes, no onions or garlic, no fried foods, etc. Lorie helped me find a nice Greek salad with grilled chicken. She made the salad, so she took out all the things I can't eat and added extra of what I can eat such as extra olives. She made sure I got the right/healthy salad dressing and brought fresh bread with just olive oil for me. My parents were visiting from New England and were looking forward to good Greek food. We had a busy day sight seeing so decided to do take out. We tried calling in our order 5 times over 1/2 hour and no one ever answered. We should have quit right here and moved on. We drove to the restaurant and put in our order....It took quite a bit to get our order...and we should have checked it before we left as they forgot my taziki sauce and my wife's salad. Two of us ordered french fries and they were so under cooked they were bordering raw...They were grease soaked an not edible. The lamb was decent but NOT great...Felt like it was cooked earlier and warmed up to serve...really quite dry. It was over $60 for 4 smallish meals that were NOT very good... To be honest I would have been happier at Dairy Queen or Wendy's. There was NO love or care put into the food and it shows in my rating. I would not recommend or eat eat here again... One of my friends had warned me that they had a bad experience here as well ...Should have listened to that warning. With so many choices in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda there are MUCH better choices. read more

ONLINE MENU PRICES VERY MISLEADING!!! All prices are more than what the online menu says! I understand raising prices however take down that menu! It's not right. Food quality; bagel breakfast sandwiches were soft however the scrambled eggs on my sandwich had shells in it . I asked for a bagel breakfast sandwich with the eggs scrambled with extra cheese. They charged me $$7.75 for the sandwich plus $2.00!! For an extra slice of American cheese. So $9.75 for a breakfast sandwich with no meat? I don't understand how the bagel sandwich with meat is the same price as a bagel sandwich with none. The side order of pancakes I got tasted of onions. When I went into the store to pickup order my food was sitting on one of the tables. I stood there and waited none of the servers acknowledged me until another group of people walked in. The woman up front was on the phone. Taking an order. The food was Luke warm at best and taste wasn't there either. The wife and I stopped here on a whim.. WOW! The food was delicious ! Huge menu! She had shrimp linguini ( excellent )I had a salad that was Great! Strawberry , blueberry , tangerine , avocado olives , peppercini, feta cheese, greens, roasted chicken , green pepper, cherry tomatoes, raspberry vinegar. Whew! If you have read my reviews I don't hand out complements. This is a good Greek restaurant. Yes it has the extensive menu, but for some reason is not overwhelming. I had a traditional Gyro , Lisa had the slouvka (sp) over rice and soup. Good size portions - don't worry guys... Lisa had enough for a leftover box. Specials every day... We will definitely go back and try breakfast and from this experience could see it as a regular lunch haunt. Yes it's an older crowd .... this is a great value, clean and decent service. We stopped here for lunch with my mom just before heading to the airport and this is a solid diner. Fresh coffee, huge menu with options from Greek to Italian to Creole to American including pasta, sandwiches, salads. The food is good, but the sevice sucks!!! My husband and I stopped for breakfast after church, and I found a hair in my eggs, so I called the waitress over and showed her. So reached down and pulled the hair out and said " it's just a string from the eggs " I'm sorry but I know the difference between a string and a hair, so I asked her to take it away and just had coffee and toast. A few months later we stop in again after church and we waited for 15 minutes before we got waited on, another 10 minutes to get our coffee, we asked for cream and never got it, had to ask another waitress for it. after 35 minutes we still did not get our food, in the meantime the people that came in at the same time as we did was already eating. I went to the hostess and asked what was taking so long for our food and she jumped all over me saying " can't you see we are busy?" they were not busy, there were more empty tables then there were taken tables.
