Charlotte County Girlfriends on Wednesday, Oct 8. Had lunch at Olympia's! Our server was fantastic! We we over 35 women, enjoy their lemon chicken orzo soup, or a small garden fresh salad. Many of the ladies order the spinach pie who said it was very good. Also they greek salad was fantastic. Or Chicken Skewer with various sides, gyro meat with sides, Gyro Platers. The entrees were plentiful. However, much of the cooked food/meats were over done. Our ladies had as alway a wonderful time with conversations, laughter and creating new relationships.

This is our third time here. We remembered they had "all you could eat fish and chips on Wednesday" so here we are. Absolutely delicious, hot and fresh. And their baklava is out of this world! Service is great, friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. I hesitated to post this because I really don't want it to get too popular. Lol.

My wife and I decided to try the newly opened Olympia Restaurant located at 3245 Tamiami Trl, Port Charlotte. Right after Olean Blvd heading South and Tamiami. We had gone to the restaurant before Ian and were anxiously waiting for the reopening to happen. The first thing you will notice right away is that everything is bright and new. It is updated in a good way and you will feel right at home when you get seated. Our server was Leslie and it was her first night there. She had a ton of experience and you could tell she was a professional at what she did. She was a bit unfamiliar with the menu, which was OK, because so were we. I ordered the Greek Combo Platter and my wife ordered Spaghetti and meatballs. The food came out hot and tasty. We enjoyed our meal and we realize this is not the same Olympia that was there before. It certainly has a different ambiance and the menu is different. However, I feel that it has great potential. When we went, they just opened a couple of days before and they are working out the kinks and finding their balance. we will be back. The food is good and it will only get better and once people realize that it is open and actually better than before, they will be back. We will wait a month or so and try it again. I can't wait to see how they improve. You should give them a try! They could use the encouragement and we could use another great restaurant in Port Charlotte!

Overcooked and underspent on meat quality here to say the least. I ordered rare state medallions and it was worse than a steak and egg from a Denny's let me just tell you I've been not happy with them but at least I can eat half the meat. Of course sure these pot if he's were fine and the grapeview was okay I didn't eat the broccoli or the fresh fruit and the milk I ordered served warm and I asked for cold and the carrot cake is in the fridge cause it was melted to shit. I only Frank, I don't write reviews frequently, but I've written them for a long time. If I write want to see because I am extremely impressed or or really be on the destitute of dissatisfied. I called Yelp customer service and they refunded me for the whole meal. I've only done that three times in my seven or eight years is yelping thank you so much please don't come here patrons

Great Cole Slaw, lumpy old mashed potatoes, wonderful liver and onion.

We've ordered from Olympia for years. It is always great, except for potatoes. We use to order baked potatoes, but they were over cooked. You know the taste when they have sat trying to keep them hot. We started getting mashed potatoes, they were great, until the last few months, we started getting what tasted like an old baked potato mashed with gravy, that are lumpy. Let's try fries. The fries were wrapped in tinfoil, so you know they were soggy. We tried the mashed potatoes again today, and we didn't eat them. We have told them this. They say sorry. In the future we'll see if we can order a veggie instead of a potato, unless they go back to their previous mashed potato recipe. Obviously we love this place. We order out about once a week. Everything else here is great.

Here's the menu. I didn't take a picture of the other side. However, it would read like a bad resume with too many useless details.

Upon arriving, we noticed how dated the interior was. This place definitely needs a makeover for both menu and decor. Service however was good. I wouldn't say fantastic but it definitely did the trick. They have a very loyal following and many customers were called by their first names. I ordered the Greek Plate as it came with two items I could not pronounce. However, upon tasting them, I probably should've just ordered the Gyro lunch instead. It was bland with no flavor. Even the lamb meat was a bit dry but with a little Tzatziki sauce, we were good to go. You could tell the meat had been on the spindle for quite some time. Instead of tossing a ton of items on the menu, I would recommend zeroing in on the namesake of the restaurant and go from there. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner so I understand the variety. However, if I told you Olympia restaurant, you would think Greek food and not Creole, lemon chicken or anything like that. There are so many restaurants up and down Tamiami that I don't think I'll be back. However, like I said the food was ok so I would timidly give it a pass.

She found Leroy's Southern Kitchen & Bar in Punta Gorda, and let me tell you this place isn't a restaurant it's a whole Saturday night experience! I walked in thinking there had to be a festival, birthday party, or somebody famous in town. Nope! That's just how they roll every Saturday. Live music, people dancing, everyone smiling I started wondering if they slipped happiness into the sweet tea. Now the wife ordered the Nevermind Pressed Burger with extra cheese and black coffee steak sauce. NEVERMIND?? More like Never mind my diet! One bite then another then another and suddenly her plate looked like the dishwasher had already been there. The burger was cooked perfectly, juicy, cheesy, and that steak sauce should be illegal in at least 12 states. Meanwhile, I ordered the 10 oz. Skirt Steak with jasmine rice, carrots, green onions, and their house made Asian marinade. Listen whoever made that sauce I need the recipe, your autograph, and your retirement plan. I was this close to asking for a to go cup so I could pour it on my cereal tomorrow morning. Mama mia that steak disappeared faster than my paycheck after my wife says, Let's just stop at one more store. Then dessert happened. We saw our neighbors order the homemade Banana Nilla Pudding special. My wife looked at me with that look that says, We're getting one. Fellas you already know that's not a suggestion. Well she got one. I got exactly three bites. THREE! ‍ By the time I looked back, the jar was cleaner than the windows at a car wash. Dear Lord now I understand why my doctor keeps telling me to watch my sugar. That pudding almost had me scheduling my next A1C appointment from the table. The live band had me singing songs from back in the day don't ask which ones. Some of y'all are detectives and I'm not giving away my age! And a huge shout-out to Athena! She knew that menu like she wrote it herself. Friendly, funny, attentive she made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. So thank you, Uncle Leroy! Between the food, the music, the atmosphere, and my wife stealing 97% of the dessert, this was the perfect way to end an unforgettable Father's Day getaway. Five stars. Come hungry leave happy and if you order the Banana Nilla Pudding, order TWO. One for your wife and one that you hide under the table. Trust me.

The side order of potato salad has a little too much vinegar. The star today is the PEI mussels Provencal. The PEI mussels are not huge, but they were well prepared with garlic, capers, herbs and white wine. My other favorite lunch dish is their Fisherman's Chowder. Ok! I got dressed up and walked over there. My table was ready on time; it was in the lounge area of the restaurant. They offered me the table or said I could sit at the bar. I opted to sit at the bar. The bar was almost full but people were leaving. Apparently people eat early there. The bartender was swamped but smiled and got me a glass of water. Soon I had menus. I like that they have a regular menu as well as a specials menu, including the usual cocktails and some special cocktails. I ordered the conquest, which seemed like a twist on an old fashioned. They offered bread or focaccia bread, I declined. And heads up- bread service is not included. It's an up charge. Normally I don't care but I was having dessert, not bread. I had the halibut special. It was phenomenal. One of the guys from the kitchen dropped it off and asked if I needed anything'- I replied salt. I find that I need salt often at restaurants. They brought the salt out real fast! I had a bite and determined it didn't need any more salt- it was perfectly salted! Woohoo! Fantastic. I ate my whole dish and then I savored my cocktail. The bartender wasn't much for conversation , as she was very busy, alone, covering the entire bar and drinks for the whole restaurant. She did invite me to try dessert, and mentioned a coconut cream cake that was not on the menu. I agreed to it and it was heavenly. Seemed like cheesecake icing with fluffy layers of cake and subtle coconut flakes throughout. The chocolate ice cream was weird at first but then I realized it's like almond joy/ mounds - coconut and chocolate are often paired. The espresso crumble gave it a nice crunch and there was caramel all over the plate. Wow! I took the majority of the cake home. It was a large portion and indulgent. I paid my tab and finished my drink. I was not rushed. I would go back again. It's a bit pricey. The fish special was $58. The cocktail was $17 and the dessert was $16. So one person, who did not add on the bread service, was $91. It's expensive. I would emphasize you can probably get a seat at the bar if you can't get a reservation. Also- the entrance is hard to find. It's in the parking lot and not facing the main road. I got a little lost walking there. The signage is poor. I can't imagine going there the first time in the dark. So give yourself a couple extra minutes if it's your first time going there.
