The general staff here are AMAZING. They are literally the reason I keep coming here. They always remember my cat and some of them even come out to see him when he visits. They also have a "passion project" where they make your pet an ID card for free with the photo they took of them at intake. Just lots of very cute and sweet things from them. The vets themselves however... I don't hate but I don't love. I've seen both a man and a woman here and both of them could stand to do more investigation and less assuming then going off on monologues with no room for correction or interjection. Brought my 2 year old cat in for a urinary blockage and the male vet told me "well he is middle aged" and prescribed him urinary problem food... 2 is not middle aged for a cat wtf! I later surmised that the blockage was because I had been stuck at the emergency vet for him for a broken tail for NINE hours without a litter box provided a couple nights before. If the vet had asked more questions instead of just assuming and slapping the standard solution on it, he would have known that. Makes me not trust him. The woman vet I interacted with more recently saw my new kitten for his first check up. When she came out to drop him off she started going off on a monologue about how it's important to provide toys for kittens and felt kinda like she was shaming me for not doing that... He does have lots of toys actually. Crinkle balls, small stuffed things, and more. Apparently they had been playing with him in there with a feather toy, which I don't have any of out of fear the cats will eat them, and he reacted very shocked and bewildered so she just blanket assumed that I don't provide toys for my kitten??? Also reacting shocked and bewildered is like THE standard for kitten behavior. I'm wondering if maybe these vets are all more dog people and just service cats as an addition. Unfortunately in my experience this seems common for vet care :( So yeah... the general staff are really really great but if you want more attentive vet care for your cat, maybe seek elsewhere. read more

I am very pleased to work this this hospital. I was hesitating at first because there were limited reviews but my visit was very simple. I did a day drop off in the morning and later in the afternoon, I get a call from the doctor asking questions and giving suggestions--he was a lovely guy! I say maybe to this veterinary clinic, because years and years ago when I had a cat that got cancer, I read very very many reviews about this place that were pretty rough. I had an incredible oncologist up in Tacoma and she recommended I contact this place about a surgery grant. And then my local vet, was doing experimental stuff with horses with this Olympia clinic so I know that they are very dedicated, but it seems they're pretty scrambled and follow through could be a challenge. Mind you! This experience is several years old. I will say this... Olympia veterinary clinic, or the veterinarian... Got me $1000 towards my cats surgery even though I never spent one second in their clinic. I just got sent straight to my oncologist in Tacoma. So I get five stars for generosity sight unseen. My cat has a fracture and leg swollen twice it's size. This included a open wound where the bone was poking out. To help him , I drove to the only 24 hr vet close to me. It was 1.5 hrs away... Because of covid I had to wait on my car. I was told that my cat was stable and they wouldn't take him. Then when I asked if the girl could check again, as I didn't think a compound fracture was a stable condition. Natalie came out and didn't touch my cat. She told me to stop yelling when I questioned her judgment of stable. She told me that just because it says 24 hour emergency doesn't mean they will take my pet. ..this was ridiculous. She then, again raised her voice at me, in my car and I had to tell her to her the f away because she was scaring me... She was blocking my doorway, she had me pinned in my car, telling me my questions where (yelling) I drove a hour and half to the only 24 vet emergency hospital I could find, and that is how my cat was treated...He is in a ton of pain, been bleeding on and off. I can't wrap it, or set it...Stable? I am a Army vet and seen shit, that's not stable...It's not considered stable for a human...What's the difference? Or are you willing to admit that animals don't deserve the same compassion and concern Natalie? My first yelp review , because that's how messed up this was... I first started going to this Vet 3 years ago when I moved in to the neighborhood and thought they were reasonably priced and very friendly. That was not the case the last time I had to go in to the office for one of my dogs to be seen. I knew my dog was getting older and getting arthritis in his right arm, but I thought I would go to the Vet to have him checked out and get him on a medication regime. I was charged $650 over two visits to be told what I already suspected, which was that he is getting arthritis. I couldn't believe I was charged this much when the ear surgery the same dog had a couple of years prior by this Vet was much cheaper than this. After about 6 weeks on the medication, I noticed my dog having some side effects and contacted the Vet to tell them I had some questions before refilling the prescription. I was told by Rissa that I would have to bring my dog in and pay to ask this question. I told her I was not going to do that, with spending as much as I just did to have him diagnosed I shouldn't have to bring my dog back in and pay for him to be seen. She told me I could pay $60.00 instead for a Zoom session with the Doctor. Again, I told her no, I just had a couple of questions that could be answered over the phone. Rissa seemed irritated and a little rude about this, and told me she would have the Dr. call me to discuss the couple of questions I had, along with send me a brochure about the medication. Fast forward 2 months later... no phone call, no brochure, nothing. I feel it's sad when a good Vet clinic starts to care more about profit than patients, and am pretty disappointed with how the service has turned out. Definitely going to a different Vet from here on out. read more

I am absolutely at a loss. 2 weeks ago we were at a loss. We had to take our dog in for end of life care. Being in a tight spot they agreed for a down payment and the rest of payment in 2 weeks for private cremation. Well I called yesterday to be informed that instead of a private cremation they sent our Roxy as a communal cremation meaning we do not get her ashes back. The director called me today as requested all he could say was typically we hold for 3-5 days we were doing you a favor. At this point we had an agreement and I did exactly what we had agreed and they failed us and the director tried to make it like it was my fault. We have not only lost our family member but her remains were taken from us. read more

My dog was bitten by something and had a reaction. Last time she needed a steroid IV. She arrived at approximately 6:45pm. We were told it would be 3-4 hours. After 3 hrs we were told it would be another 3 or 4 and suggested we return in the morning. Extremely unprofessional. read more

We tried and tried for days to get our cat in. To no avail. She suffered for a week we found out in a literal 5 minute diagnosis it was a tumor. Watching her suffer calling you hour by hour for days was gut wrenching. We put her down. But I will make sure everyone knows how unkind and unwilling to help. She suffered needlessly. Your website is all bullshit and lies you do not help walk-ins or anyone. You book yourselves up with expensive surgeries. What are we supposed to be our own vets. We have two cats that we adopted in 2016. Since then, we have had a number of different vets due to our many moves (military). I would rate all of the vets our cats have seen very highly, but I would rate Dr. Bell and his staff as the best of them all. He is the only vet who has been able to help our cat with chronic upper respiratory congestion and chronic ear infections. Because of Dr. Bell, our cat is not cured (because there is no cure), but his problems are being managed through medicines, and he (the cat) is living a much better life, thanks to Dr. Bell. Also, Dr. Bell's staff is top notch. They must see so many people every week, but they always remember us and our cats. They are so kind and compassionate there. I don't think you could find a better vet or supporting staff. read more

I took my dog here for regular checkup and shots on a Friday. They recommended a heart worm test and took blood. Vet tech said there were no issues when I asked how it went. I brought him home and over weekend noticed wound on lower neck and broad bruising on chest. After multiple emails, and phone calls back-and-forth Monday and Tuesday (and the office refusing to let me come in and have vet see him) the office finally shared on Tuesday the blood draw had not been normal. My dog kept bleeding and they had to apply extra pressure and also silver nitrate to get the bleeding to stop. They also then told me that the regular vet was out of the office for the week and there was a stand in vet for the week. I was so disappointed because I did like the vet, but the lack of honesty and transparency from the vet tech and the office staff left me with no trust, and I am going to go to a different veterinarian clinic. If they had just told me I could have started icing him immediately to reduce the bruising which would have been better for his healing and I wouldn't have been worried. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. This vet clinic is poorly operated. First and foremost, when I called to see if they could look at my cats paw, which had started bleeding, they told me over the phone that they could get him in, but they didn't tell me that the wait time would be ALL DAY. When we arrived, there was a sign on the door that stated to text where we parked, and why we were there. Then please wait in the car. Did that, then waited 15 minutes for a response text to fill out some online intake forms. Did that. Waited some more, and a lovely girl came out to "examine" my cat. However, my husband and I had bandaged the paw and taped it with medical tape in order for the blood to hopefully stop and not get everywhere while we waited. So, she simply marked him as "not critical", and said that they would be out to get him shortly. Shortly turned into 3 and a half hours, during this time we were told that if we left for any reason that we would lose our place in the "que". To note, on the patient board inside there were only 3 to 4 patients to be seen, including my cat. So now we are at almost 4 hours of waiting in the parking lot, the same young lady comes out and collects my cat. She says, that the Dr. would examine him and then give me a phone call with treatment options and costs. 3 hours later, I ask the front desk receptionist if there has been any updates, and this person defers knowledge due to not working in the back. I asked if I could run my husband back to the house to take care our other animals, and they told me that if we both left, that we would be dropped from the que. But they HAD MY CAT! Finally, I received a phone call from the Doctor. She said that she could not examine him without sedation because peeling off the medical tape would hurt him too much. So, at this point, my husband and I have been waiting for 7 hours and 15 minutes, and they have NOT EVEN EXAMINED THE INJURY!. I was so upset by this that I demanded that they return my cat. The response was to try to charge me $160.00 EXAMINATION FEE before releasing my cat. They did NOT EXAMINE THE ISSUE. This place is HORRIBLE!!!! DRIVE TO SEATTLE, DRIVE TO PORTLAND, DRIVE YOUR INJURED OR SICK FUR BABY ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

Dr. Bell gets it ! He gave me and my cat the compassion and common decency that I would expect from any vet , but got only from him. I love my cat like she was my kid. She and I have lived together 24/7 for 10 years. I know my cat. I knew that my cat was in pain. So I took her to Oly Cats . They must know cats , right ? Surely they care , right ? I made it clear that I will tolerate absolutely no pain for my cat. When she was then diagnosed with spine and hip arthritis I asked for euthanisia. It was a Monday. They recommended a pain med trial. I didn't want to but I agreed. On Friday I called and said that she was not better , can we please put her out of her pain. I was told no , we will try another pain med. At that point I was done with Oly Cats . I got on the phone and started cold calling vets. My third call was to Dr Bell's office. He agreed to put my sweet baby out of her pain. Everybody in that office was very kind and patient with me. They treated Morla with great kindness and respect. Way to go Dr Bell's office. You are what veterinarian medicine should be. Do NOT for a moment think twice about bringing your pet to them. Thank you , again , all of you. read more

I brought my dog Daphne here to get her spayed, with a slight suspicion that she was pregnant. I asked when I dropped her off to be called with results of whether or not she was pregnant. Because if Daphne was pregnant, I didn't want to proceed with any surgery. I got no call, so I called about an hour before her pickup time to check in on her, because I was curious to see how everything went. When I called they said surgery went well and she was recovering perfectly. So I assume there was no puppies inside of her. When I got there to pick up Daphne, Dr. Bell informed me that they did abort the puppies. WHAAAAT! I was beyond furious! How could they Do that without my permission!? So, I'm up and the desk and Debbie informs me that I owe about $400 for the extraction of my dogs puppies. After I expressed that I was not okay and under a lot of distress about what just happened. She went in and talked with Dr. Bell and he said he would cover that cost, all I am responsible for is the cost of the spay and her medication. I left there okay with that... A couple months later, I go in to get Daphne some flea medication, and Debbie tells me I can't get the medication because I owe them the $400 for the abortion they performed on my dog that I didn't approve! Then Debbie proceeds to tell me that Dr. Bell never approved to waive the money, and it was her word against mine. Dr. Bell is fantastic! He made me feel genuinely heard while explaining my cat's health history and my concerns, and took the time to research her specific brand of food in the moment with me instead of operating on assumptions. Other vets that I've seen were unable or unwilling to look further into her ailments, wrote it off as anxiety and recommended keeping her in a cone indefinitely (not a good quality of life for anyone) or to give her anxiety meds without investigating any other causes for her over-grooming. Dr. Bell was able to come up with a comprehensive treatment plan, explained every step of the process and why they were choosing to do certain things, and also made a game plan if we don't see the results we are expecting. I also briefly mentioned being concerned about her teeth and they did a light cleaning for her without me asking. With all of this, my bill was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than any other local office I've visited. I have never felt more listened to or validated at any other vet office before, and am deeply grateful for the staff at OVH. I was so happy when I left that I literally almost cried. Not only are they accepting new patients, they are also true to their word. I'd called asking for an appointment for our 11 y/o dog who had spent a couple of days traveling; 14 hours of which were spent on a flight in a crate, since she was collapsing in the rear intermittently (not her usual despite arthritis) and just not quite right. Initially an appointment was scheduled several days out and I was told they would call if earlier spots were available due to cancellations. We, Callie and I, were ecstatic when they called and moved us up! Thank you Debbie! Upon our arrival we were greeted immediately and simple required paperwork made our exam wait time minimal. Anna spoke easily when obtaining general history and information about our issue and Dr Bell soon, with assistance from Anna (Callie's small for her giant breed standard but still a very big girl) were completing a thorough, respectful exam all the while explaining to her nervous human. Diagnosis, treatment and prescriptions were explained as we went along and offered without up-selling or pressure. All of my questions were answered and relieved much anxiety for both of us. A professional, kind, caring and 'family-like' atmosphere coupled with superb treatment and a brilliant doctor; Dr. David Bell, are truly and simply a blessing.
