I'm from the LA area and one of the things I miss is theaters with couches where you order from your seat and deliver it to you, like Austin's Alamo Draft House. I thought those days of going to those type of theaters were over when I moved to the PNW, but God is good because there's the Olympic Club Theater. I went in during the day with my Mom to watch Toy Story (it's the 30th Anniversary of the film) and because it's mid-day, the room was empty, but this place is super cool. Love all the unique antique couches and tables where you can watch your movie and a server brings it to you. We ahd the run of the house and the food was pretty good. I got a burger, fries, and hard cider and it was okay, but the experience made my heart happy. There is also a restroom at the back of the theater with old fashioned fixtures and it was cool. It's a men's room, but it's also open to anyone who wants to use it. Also great is how they have all the condiments out in the back so help yourself, along with a water dispenser, AND a sink to wash your hands. So good! If you haven't been to Oregon or Washington, you haven't been to a McMenamins. If you have spent time in these PNW locales, you have at least heard the name. And if you've actually visited any of their locations, you "know"...you just know. McMenamins is an experience. The locations are quirky, typically historic and a treat to explore...they provide so much eye candy that you probably won't get a chance to absorb all the details in a single visit. And the tots! Yes, the Cajun tots with ranch is worth the visit alone. But get a craft beverage (or two, or three) while there. I tried three hard ciders and they were each unique & delicious. I rounded out my meal with a cheeseburger and I have to say, it was one of the best burgers I've had recently. If you go to a show (I watched Dune: Part Two) there's enough ambient light to eat without fumbling about. Yes, it does affect the screen image quality a bit, so factor that in...it's a compromise that's worth being able to enjoy your dinner and drinks during the show. Insider tip: go during happy hour and this fun, funky and delicious experience will be about what you pay for ticket, drink and popcorn at the generic cinamaplexamacmallits. Only McMenamins is leaps and bounds cooler my friends. Oh yeah, there's a McMenamins passport program which I did not know about until after I had left. Super fun! Really enjoyed our first visit here. Very quirky and vintage. Everyone very nice. The food was yum yum! My only issue was the line to order the food and drinks. I stood in line behind about 10 people for 15 minutes before the movie started and did not move an inch. I was getting pretty upset about it until our friends we were there with handed me his drink and said go sit down I got this. He appeared with my beer about another 20 minutes later, food another 20 minutes after that. I'll come back but way early to make sure I have everything by the time the movie starts. read more

I went here last month and I watched Deadpool and Wolverine. I had heard about this place several times & I decided to give this place a try. I got there early and took in everything. It has great decor. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was great as well; I had a 3 burger slider plate and a lemonade. However the only real complaint that I have is that it was very warm in the theater section. I am pretty sure that I wasn't alone in that feeling because I saw several people fanning themselves throughout the movie. Again, great food, great staff, I am guessing that the cocktail menu is good, but since I quit drinking I am just guessing on that. My only thing I would say to them is invest in a better HVAC system. read more

I've stayed at this McMenamin location twice recently and with your reasonably priced room, you get free admission to the movie theater. There's a free parking lot right next door. The area to pay for the theater and order is a bit confusing as it is located inside the New Tourist Bar, at a back counter. They show new movies and if you don't happen to be getting them free with your room, they are cheaper than more mainstream theaters. First run movies are currently 7$ for adults. I really love the set up of this theater with it's couch and table style seats. The room is long and you don't feel too close to your neighbors, which is nice in covid times. This is a dinner and drinks theater so you can order food to be delivered to your seat during the movie, or get drinks/popcorn at the bar to bring in yourself. I did find that many of the people working at the bar did not appear to know how to make the drinks listed on their menu, so this process took longer than it should. It also seems they frequently run out of made popcorn so you then have to have it brought to your seat. On one occasion this seemed to occur halfway thru the movie. The ambiance and price made up for it all though and I would happily go here many more times. I really enjoy the sink set up in the Women's bathroom as well. read more

This place is soooo much fun! Stay in the hotel upstairs, hang out downstairs and have food and drinks, play some shuffleboard, and see a movie! Also, the movie is included in your hotel cost. There are shops along the street to check out. We particularly liked the toy store and the frozen yogurt spot. The only reason I took a star off is because there are no screens on the windows and It gets pretty warm. I understand this is an old hotel, but something so small would make a big difference. I woke up with a bunch of mosquito bites and I don't typically get bit. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and it's a super fun time. We also purchased the prohibition package that included dinner and breakfast. Yum! read more

Should also mention that this is a full service theater, so you can order food and drinks at the "concessions counter" (aka the bar) just outside, where you also purchase your tickets. I love Olympic club!! It's amazing that food can be brought to your seat. Here are some tips: Get to the theater early (so you can buy tickets without a line and get to the seats up front. It's not by ticket so you just pick a couch or chair.) Get Mac n cheese. I love their Mac n cheese! I don't get blue cheese on it I suggest taking that off :) Overall food is amazing, movie quality is great (though I guess that is expected) and Olympic club is a great place to go. Okay, this is being written a tad later but because of the great experience, I have to write it! My husband and I had stayed at the hotel so an added benefit is free movie. We saw that Spiderman was showing and considering I have not watched Spiderman since Toby Maguire, I thought, meh, why not. We hadn't had dinner so we'll just watch it while we eat and then I'll probably fall asleep (typical Gracie at the movies). Well, let me just tell you that I didn't fall asleep. It was a fun movie. Okay, but the review is not on the movie. It's on the theater. We ordered yummies (you order them before you enter the theater and they give you a number). We got our drinks and sat down. We arrived early enough to get the front sofas (yes, sofas!). The food arrived just when the previews started. We ordered pizza. The sofa was comfortable, the beer was tasty, the pizza was yummy, and the movie was pretty good. This was a win, win, win, win! It seems that every time we come we are either too late for the movie so getting here early enough to enjoy this part of the hotel was an added plus. Definitely watch a movie here. By the way, when we watched it, it was before many theaters even had it out. I don't know how McMenamins did it but we saw previews for months after we saw it...like I said, this is VERY late (visit was on 12.18.21). read more

Attended a special event in the theater last night. Event was great. I hadn't been in awhile to The Olympic Club Theater and I won't be coming back anytime soon. Had 2 main issues: 1. Wanted two drinks for me and my friend, non-alcoholic and the line at the bar next to the theater had a huge line. I looked at the counter and nobody was working the cash register, everyone quite upset. I asked someone in line if there was in an employee taking orders. Was told only two working and both had to deliver food and take orders. Theater was packed. Horrible planning and service and I felt bad for the two employees trying to take orders and serve an entire theater of people. Went to the main bar, waited for rude bartender who continued to ignore me, until I asked the woman how long do I stand her to be served? There were only 4 other people sitting at the bar and all had their drinks already. Paid $9.50 for two drinks an RC Cola and iced tea. Give me a break, that ridiculous 2. There is a stove in the theater that they had going, but the smell made me sick to my stomach and gave me a headache. No ventilation and it smelled like campfire. You may want to check to make sure you aren't pumping carbon dioxide into the theater. It did affect my enjoyment and being overcharged for "cheap" drinks. Employees obviously overworked except one male bartender that won't look at or address customers. Prices are ridiculous. Management plan better when you are hosting events that will draw lots of people and try to at least provide timely service. read more

A great place for a cheaper date night! The food is amazing, and exactly what you'd expect from a McMenamin's. I've been to most of their locations and I can't pick a favorite, but I'd put this one closer to the top of the list for ambience alone. We sat next to a wood burning stove in an area that felt busy, but quiet. We were on a time crunch before our movie started, but it all worked out perfectly. The bar in the theater wasn't staffed like I expected, but the drink we got from the restaurant floor was amazing. Prices are about what you'd expect, but it's worth every penny. We will definitely be back. I don't give 5 stars lightly, but I feel this place has earned every one of them. read more

Coolest place ever. Worth the trip. Amazing McMenamins bar and food menu. Lots of things to do (pool tables, movie theater, cool shops nearby). I hate going to the movies. I love going to the Olympic Club. Perfect for a date with my wife. Perfect for a movie with the family. Perfect for getting out of the house and hanging out with friends. If I could only choose one place to eat and drink this would be it. Everything is not the best. But the Olympic Club is the best of everything. When there's a movie we want to see we just drive. If we get there 3 hours early we go to the outlet mall. If we get there half an hour early we eat before we watch the movie. Great place to stop by if your on your way to Portland from Seattle. Especially on a Friday when rush hour starts at 2pm. It may still take 3 hours to get there (on a Friday) but you can still get your party on. Disclaimer (they tell you on the phone): If you are booking a room, know they hotel is next to the train tracks (Literally). Know the trains do blow their horns every time they get anywhere close to the hotel(day or night). But it wasn't enough to dissuade us from enjoying ourselves. There was too much good stuff to out way the bad. We got to the hotel around 6pm on Friday. Left Bellevue at 3pm. Grabbed a sampler of their beer selection and the artichoke jalapeno dip (yum...not too cheesy, not too spicy). My fav beer was the Ruby because it really did have a Raspberry aftertaste. If your into Pool, they have a large pool table room and the games are free. Then we went to our room with a window and a sink (fancy) and took a quick nap. Not all the rooms have a with a window. In fact, most don't. Make sure to ask for one whey you book. The European bathroom was very clean and nice. The one I showered in had great lighting due to the huge skylight above the shower. Ahh... We woke in time to be hungry again and catch a movie. They had 3 throughout the evening. One after another. We caught the 9pm movie ("Paul"). Just before entering the theater section we stopped off at the bar and ordered food and drinks then went and found us a comfy couch. The bartender brought our food to us during the movie but it you wanted more food or drinks you would've had to gone back to the bar to order. read more

I have to update my review. Since my last review in 2010 I got married and had two children. Olympic Club Theater is my saving grace- otherwise I would never be able to go to the movies with my wife and the two little ones. They have family movies in addition to the regular adult/pg-13 movies. Sure, I still drink a beer. Sure, I still eat tots and fries. Most importantly though, my kids can whine, fuss, and yell, "No daddy my fries" without me being the least bit embarrassed. I just move to another couch and pretend I don't know my wife or kids. (Just kidding!) The tickets are still cheap and the food is still good. A great family trip to the movies. read more

oh yeah, it was love at first sight for me. I have been known to make road trips for lunch from Seattle to come here. It's that great an experience. Part of the mammoth McMenamin empire, known for their restoration and preservation of numerous NW landmarks, this place is a jewel. You will feel yourself being transported back in time to the turn of the 19th century to the days of Filson-clad loggers peeing at the bar into the trough at their feet (ask the bartender), or buying 'tea' in the speakeasy days (transported through a tunnel from the rail tracks behind the building). It's still all there: the wall paper, Tiffany glass, big pot belly wood stove, dark smoky woodwork (of course, now sanitized for your health), pool tables. Oh, and kids are welcome. The beer is their own, and tastes just fine, the food too is tasty and reasonably priced, there's a movie theatre, a hotel next door (also run by them). This place is a must see, must experience place. Suggestion: Take the train down (it stops at the back door), eat, drink enjoy a movie, sleep in the hotel, visit the rest of Centrailia and then take the train home a few days later. An exquisite experience from the McMenamin empire. My favorite date recently wooed me with dinner, brews, and a movie at the Olympic Club in the precious time capsule town of Centralia, WA. My heart was shattered into a thousand joyful little pieces, in the best possible way. I'm a sucker for a living historic building. I mean, I like the dead, falling-down buildings too, but a place with real history alongside a current function; well, be still my heart. The Olympic Club is an antique hotel, former home of bank robbers and the requisite second-floor brothel, turned into a delicious pub with a killer kitchen and a tiny movie theater. The theater is the real secret gem here - films are only $3, you can eat delicious food (delivered to your table by a wait staff) and enjoy passably good beer while enjoying the movie. The theater/supper club is my favorite kind of facility, and it is done correctly at the Olympic. The seats are a mix of movie theater seats, arm chairs and love seats. Snuggle up next to your sweetheart near a low-lying table to prop up your dinner. Don't forget to order dessert! The food is good. I mean, it's the McMenamin familiar food, but the reason they serve consistent menus at various locations is because the food is consistently decent. It's vegetarian-friendly, with a burger and a number of salads for a non-animal-carcass feast. The beers are adequate. Some of them are exceptional. The McMenamin brews rotate on the drafts, but the taps taste clean enough and the variety should appease all but the most discerning beer lovers. My only complaint was that the beer was served about 15 degrees warmer than I like -- this seems an issue of real insignificance compared to so much that they do right here. It was not unpleasant or undrinkable by any means. The staff was ridiculous. I don't know if it is because Centralia's such a quaint town, but every employee treated us like valued old friends. Some reviewers complained about the price, but on the way home, my date and I remarked on how very affordable our evening was. We shared 4 pints of beer, a salad, an entree, and dessert. There was plenty of food to go around, we saw a **movie**, and spent a whopping $50. I can't wait to go back. read more

This movie theater is the bomb dig... went to Chehalis to visit my brother and my sister-in-law and she took us to see the Fantastic Mr. Fox. I had a love seat couch all to myself... so comfy! We had already eaten so we didn't try any food but will next time. The historic building seems to be a hotel, restaurant, bar and movie theater. The posters on the walls advertised different specials throughout the week. The movie was only $3, can't beat that! Such a unique place that we all want to go back and eat, drink and get our movie on! Fine for the kiddies but they have to be accompanied by an adult. read more

The going rate for movie tickets for two is about $18. With $18 at Olympic Club, you can get admission for you both and a pitcher of one of their beers that was brewed on site. Amazing. Don't get me wrong, I love all movie dates. It could be at home in bed with the laptop, or at the chain theater with the arm between the seats folded up, and I'd be happy. And I could just be way too excited about the concept of drinking at the movies, but being in that beautiful, historic building cuddled into their comfy chairs with someone you love just makes this place seem like something special. read more

Nice take on bar food, tasty cocktails, and a classic poolhall atmosphere. I've never had excructiatingly slow service here, but I know others who have, so beware if you're in a hurry. Sandwiches are clever and well done; salads are fresh and tasty; and rotating appetizer specials can be delightful. Drinks tend to be tart, so if you're a sweet fiend, steer clear of anything with fresh juice or ask for it to be sugared up. Beer, burger and a movie night is relatively cheap for those interested in an inexpensive date. Try not to sit upstairs; the service is noticeably slower. read more

The theater has comfy couches, chairs and tables for the food and drinks as you watch the movie. Yes please! The rooms are so charming and clean, shared toilet/shower rooms and the hotel offers wonderful thick robes on the short walk to the water closet! Where else can you sack out on a comfy love seat and watch a great movie while being served an enormous plate of perfect sweet potato fries, I ask you? Its a McMenimans so you can't go wrong. Love the older restored building and great place to have food, shoot pool, or catch a movie and stay. The McMenimans brothers know how to do things right so you won't be disappointed on any aspect of your visit. I don't get as ecstatic about the Olympic Club compared to other locations like Kennedy School, Mission Theatre, etc but I'm so pleased there is a location far enough North from the Portland area for an easy trip down (even easy to get to by train from Seattle-that's a good day right there). Word has it that is a great McMenimans opening in Tacoma in a year or two-chaching! read more

A wonderfully affordable way to see a movie. No it isn't the best quality picture and you occasionally get the passing train blowing it's whistle on the tracks behind the establishment, but the atmosphere is great and the price is right. I love coming here because I can order good food and a drink, snuggle up to my honey on a loveseat, and if no one sits in the chair in front of me I can turn it around and prop my feet up. read more

Take a stroll back in history to the turn of the century while enjoying a good burger too. This place has awesome ambiance and a colorful history; it is a great meeting spot between Seattle and Portland and has great food. Even though it is a little pricey, it is worth the visit. There's never a problem with parking (as is true in small towns) and service is good. After a tasty meal you can always play a game of pool or watch a movie. I've been going here for years and always enjoy it. It's a great stop if you're driving along 1-5 and need a place to grab a bite and have some conversation. I like the rugged feel, wooden construction, wood burning stove, tiffany lamps and connection with Washington State history. This spot used to be a hotbed during the prohibition period, with stories of bootlegging and gambling and railroad bandits. Enjoy! read more

It's cozy, smells insanely good due to their wood burning stoves, and the folks that work the bar and deliver the food are super nice. The overall experience of the theater it's self was great. I was however very disappointed in the girl at the bar. We asked where to buy tickets as it wasn't posted anywhere, the girl was annoyed the minute we asked. She was straight rude. If you are working in the customer service field you need to be nice. She seemed put out when we ordered food and drinks. The girl who delivered our food into the theater was very nice though! I don't know if they realize but without customers you wouldn't have a job. We all enjoyed our food and the atmosphere of the theater and for $4 a ticket is was great! Overall I'd still come back, just hopefully we deal with more friendly staff. read more

Went to a movie on Father's Day. Captain America. Loved the movie by the way, The place was packed. A rather drunk and belligerent man was bullying a young teen boy over some seats that the boy was trying to save for his mom. The manager handled the situation very well and the drunk man left . We ordered Bacon Cheese Burgers w/ Fries. The bacon was a little too thick and hard. I almost broke a tooth. Other than that it was delicous. I really liked that they didn't salt the fries. LOVE coming here for date night. Couches and chairs in this restaurant/pub/theatre. Excellent service every time. You can eat in the restaurant or pub then bring your beverage into the theatre. Or you can just order at the pub just before you enter the theatre and they will bring your meal to you. GREAT food. GREAT atmosphere in this old-style converted building.
