    So fun.

I've stayed at this McMenamin location twice recently and with your reasonably priced room, you get free admission to the movie theater. There's a free parking lot right next door. The area to pay for the theater and order is a bit confusing as it is located inside the New Tourist Bar, at a back counter. They show new movies and if you don't happen to be getting them free with your room, they are cheaper than more mainstream theaters. First run movies are currently 7$ for adults. I really love the set up of this theater with it's couch and table style seats. The room is long and you don't feel too close to your neighbors, which is nice in covid times. This is a dinner and drinks theater so you can order food to be delivered to your seat during the movie, or get drinks/popcorn at the bar to bring in yourself. I did find that many of the people working at the bar did not appear to know how to make the drinks listed on their menu, so this process took longer than it should. It also seems they frequently run out of made popcorn so you then have to have it brought to your seat. On one occasion this seemed to occur halfway thru the movie. The ambiance and price made up for it all though and I would happily go here many more times. I really enjoy the sink set up in the Women's bathroom as well.

Free admission for hotel guests? Score! Got to settle in with my cutie for a midnight movie before bed, which was super fun and cozy, especially in the provided robes! Moody, dim ambiance really adds to the experience. It's really great theater and I wish it was closer to the home! Should also mention that this is a full service theater, so you can order food and drinks at the "concessions counter" (aka the bar) just outside, where you also purchase your tickets. Nothing like an Old Fashioned or two with your movie-viewing experience!

This place is soooo much fun! Stay in the hotel upstairs, hang out downstairs and have food and drinks, play some shuffleboard, and see a movie! Also, the movie is included in your hotel cost. There are shops along the street to check out. We particularly liked the toy store and the frozen yogurt spot. The only reason I took a star off is because there are no screens on the windows and It gets pretty warm. I understand this is an old hotel, but something so small would make a big difference. I woke up with a bunch of mosquito bites and I don't typically get bit. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and it's a super fun time. We also purchased the prohibition package that included dinner and breakfast. Yum!

There was a part with a black actor, dressed all in black and I only saw him because I could barely make out the whites of his eyes. At this point I'm done and left to ask for a refund. The manager tried to convince me this is how the movie is supposed to look. Even took me into another theatre to see it on a different screen. It also looked terrible. It was kinda funny, a manager of a movie theater should know this isn't acceptable. I feel like they got some knock off cheap versions of the film and are just trying to pass it off. It honestly was on par with cam quality. Got a refund and could hear the manager talking crap about me to other employees as I walked away. Classy. Went to a regal in Vancouver that same day to actually watch the movie, it was like an entirely different film! It was wild watching scenes I had already seen and realizing how different it was. There's a part with a spider in a web in the upper corner of a door frame that I hadn't been able to see at all at Kelso Regal because it was all shadow but it was clear as day on this screen. Not likely to return after this experience and being treated this way. I'll just go to Vancouver.

Nice Regal theater in Olympia! I was supposed to work an event today in Shelton which didn't quite…read morego according to plan but since I made an hour drive this way from Puyallup, I decided to do something fun in Olympia before going home and ended up here. Toy Story 5 is out and the kid in me LOVES Toy Story.. they are my favorite Disney movies that are animated and aren't Princess-related so I had to see Toy Story 5 and I decided to see it in a format I haven't watched a movie in before (Screen X). I was excited that they have Screen X as I've come close to seeing a movie in Screen X before but ended up not getting around to it. I lived in Idaho for a couple years and the Regal in Boise has different formats for movies like IMAX, Screen X and 4DX. I absolutely LOVE 4DX movies so that was my go to theater for that but I had it in the back of my mind to do Screen X sometime and recently found out that was something offered at this theater. It was nice to see what it was all about but honestly didn't feel it was anything that special. The Screen is basically extended with projections on the sides of the auditorium during key parts of the movie but the images on the sides are darker, not nearly as bright as the screen in front of you and they are blurry looking. It was honestly kind of distracting. I originally wanted to do 3D with Screen X but then decided because I've never seen a movie in Screen X to just do regular Screen X to see if I actually like the format first and I'm glad I went that route because maybe the 3D would have enhanced the side screens a bit more but I could see it also possibly being overwhelming and disorienting if I did it with the 3D. I know alot of people say they think that 4DX is distracting and overwhelming to the senses with the moving seats but honestly I would much rather have watched this in 4DX.. Sadly they don't have 4DX at this theater though and the only theater in Washington that does is the Regal in downtown Seattle. It would be nice if they added 4DX as an option here as I'd rather make the long drive here than fight all the traffic in Seattle to get there but I know it's extremely expensive for them to convert even one auditorium to the 4DX seats so that likely won't be happening any time soon if ever. Overall though, I LOVED the movie and the theater was very nice! I didn't get any concessions today as I felt it would be more worth it to hit up the Wendy's drive thru after for the minion meal, but I do enjoy Regal's Sips by Pepsi- give them a try if you haven't! They cost a bit less than a regular soda or even the small icee and they have unique flavors like a Cotton Candy lemonade topped with real cotton candy and cotton candy boba!! Enjoy ;)

Probably not come here again. Edit to add: It is now 11:05 am and movie just began. That's 17 minutes of ads, 18 minutes of previews. If you want to spend your time wisely, you can use some of that time for something else. Cost for two tickets, two drinks and popcorn: $77. Now the end of the movie. No way that's IMAX. That's a standard movie on a big bent screen with extremely loud (too loud) sound. If they need certification to say they are IMAX it should be pulled. IMAX means Immersive Audio Experience. Nothing immersive here. Go to IMAX in Tacoma!
