Olympus Diner is easily one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. The prices are completely unjustified for what they serve. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap $20 without fries and received three dry pieces of chicken tossed with plain lettuce. No croutons, no cheese, no flavor whatsoever. It came with a random lettuce leaf and a slice of cantaloupe on the side, which honestly felt like an afterthought. For a place that's been in business this long, you'd expect quality, flavor, or at the very least decent portions. Instead, everything felt lazy and overpriced. The portions are laughable, the food lacks seasoning, and there's absolutely nothing memorable about the experience except the disappointment. Save your money -- there are far better diners in the area that actually deliver on flavor, value, and service. Don't know about the ambiance since i did take out. read more

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by eating here twice before leaving a review, but sadly both times were awful. Let's start with $75 for some spaghetti, a soda and a club sandwich with fries is RIDICULOUS! Never will anyone survive very long like this? Now on to the food.... The first time we order an OVERPRICED breakfast which was burnt, dry and terrible. We used the excuse that it was afternoon so maybe their breakfast cook wasn't working, but I don't think so. We ordered spaghetti and a club sandwich tonight and sadly it was as awful as the last. The spaghetti had no flavor, the fries were cold, soggy and had no flavor and the sandwich was just cold cut. Nothing on this meal was homemade or seasoned for that matter. They threw in a slice of apple pie with the dinner, it was old, crust was stale and apples had no flavor! Last week we noticed we did not use a gift certificate for the diner. We received last year for Christmas. It was a $50 certificate. We then noticed it said it expires after 30 days. I thought that was strange for a gift certificate to only last 30 days so we called the diner and spoke with an employee who said that they would honor it. We live 30 miles away. We drove up and again double-checked at the door and The owner said that he would not honor it. Needless to say we were not happy that we wasted an afternoon and respect for the diner. read more

Below average diner. For a diner with history, it's sad to see an apparent decline. From those I spoke to in the area, there has been a decline and now experiencing it for myself, I'd have to agree that the quality isn't there. While it's a 'diner', there are certainly better out there. Inside is standard enough with seating and design. Some booths have the jukebox and others don't. The menu is varied, deep, and huge. With so many options, I played it safe with the bacon cheeseburger. The burger was average - not terrible, but I've had better. When a place messes that up, it's not a great sign. I was lucky, since others who I went with were less than satisfied with their meals. A table full of different plates, the odds of messing more than half up is telling. Staff were okay, not great but not terrible. They have a hook game in the entrance, so for all those like me that can get addicted to that, you've been warned. Parking is decent. With so many diners out there, you'd expect better but sadly this place is less than average. Perhaps they had better days and perhaps they will again, but as of now it's a place I won't return to. When we walked in we were greeted by a strong chemical smell that resembled turpentine. All of my local Mahopac friends tell me that is normal here nowadays.......? We ordered our brunch items which included a waffle with sausage links for my wife and a western omelet w/Swiss cheese for me. The eggs were sloppy and didn't hold together well (nor sure why, this isn't normal for an Omelet. Instead of toast, I asked for a bagel and all they had was plain bagels and these were extremely boring and tasteless and I doubt they were ever boiled, technically making them just rolls with a whole in the middle. NEVER AGAIN! My wife ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich (10.99!) She told the waitress that she wanted onion rings with the sandwich which was supposed to be an additional $3.99 for a Deluxe. Parking is super easy for this ideally located staple of Putnam County/Mahopac NY area. You can easily view your car from where you chose to dine. Waitstaff Is quite patient and attentive for indecisive customers such as ourselves. Never did we feel rushed to finalize our meals to leave. Food was crisp and fresh having ordered a Mediterranean Salad and a Panini both times share. They didn't charge a sharing fee. Waitstaff wasn't annoyed at our little requests in between ordering(more napkins etc) They truly wanted you be serving their customers! 4 stars because the diner was noticeably cold. Wow... was I shocked having been here for the first time in probably 10+ years (my 'Go To' diner is 202 Diner in Cortlandt Manor!). So I ordered the Bison burger because it seemed like an interesting option. But first, I was brought a little dish of cole slaw and a slice of pickle. Let me say I am not embellishing here, I'm quite sure the pickle had a bite taken out of it and I don't doubt off of someone else's plate either; the cole slaw was undoubtedly old and I refused to eat more than a forkful! My Bison burger was perfect and even the fries were pretty good, but why throw 2-onion rings on top of the fries if you're not going to cook them? No one eats raw onion rings! Coffee.. fine. So the bill comes and its $21.53 (w/ tax)! Now the menu had the burger at $12.99 and the only other item I ordered was coffee. How much was this coffee? It's a diner. A classic diner with a huge menu. The food is what you would expect and the prices are slightly higher than expected. Bathrooms are clean and the place looks well-maint I give them four stars because when all the power in the area was out for days after a snow storm, this place was open and feeding everyone. It was cash only, but we were able to feed the family. Kudos to them for being prepared. UPDATE - 1/12/2020 The booth seats in the back are actually painful to sit on. I wrote a favourable review of the diner last year. However, I did return recently and found they had raised their prices considerably. I know that inflation has caused many food establishments to raise prices which is a shame. What used to be a regular eating place for me has limited my visits due to the higher prices. The worst diner I have ever been to. 10 off us went there Wednesday the waitress acted like we had to serve our selves. The first order she brought out was soup for one of the ladies, which made no sense because by the time all our other orders arrived. I've been here before but just use it as a breakfast place when needed. Since I haven't had electricity since yesterday afternoon we really needed to eat. So we got there and was pleased they even had electricity. I wasn't pleased that we were brought into the dining area and Nick wanted to put us in a booth that was sandwiched between two other booths that were occupied. So, I reminded him of 6 feet then he pointed us over across the room to another booth. The waiter was pleasant as usual but the owner really needs to be more conscious of what's going on and not his pockets. Olympic Diner is a solid three star place. It's a diner meant for locals with good (but not great) food. The menu and portions are both humongous!! You can have anything from Mexican to Italian to Greek or surf and turf here, and any of it will be good. Their service is different than many expect, in that you really do have to flag your server down to get their attention. When you do so, they're delightful. The prices are a little high for diner food, but the proportions are the reason (srsly HUGE). I've had serious leftovers each time I've eaten here. Also note, most "meals" are three courses with soup/salad, entree (+/- veggies and carb), and dessert with coffee/tea. Also, their cheesecake is amazing and the apple pie (ask for it warmed, then remind your server to bring it to you...) is quite good. So after my last review, I thought this diner deserved another shot. (Actually, if I can be brutally honest for just a moment, I didn't really have a choice. Me and my friend wanted breakfast food and this is THE only diner in the area. This experience was already off to a bad start. We were greeted by a sweet waitress. She was older, but really a down to earth genuine women. If only every women could be as sweet as Diane. Lets call her Diane for now. Anyways, I'm getting off track here. Again, my friend ordered pancakes. To me, they looked fine! How do you mess up pancakes? Unlike my last time here, there were not any food particles in his pancakes. However, he did say that the bottom pancake was soggy and that the bacon being served on top of the pancake was extremely inconvenient. Also, although Diane was a great waitress and I was extremely impressed with her service, my friends chocolate milk was not really stirred at all. In fact, he had to stir it for a whole 45 seconds to get the chocolate syrup to dissolve into the fresh whole milk. Also, since I had such a bad experience with the jukebox at my table the last time I was here, I thought I would give it another chance. I made a mistake and wasted 50 cents. I tried to play "Rock Your Body' by The Black Eyed Peas (don't judge) and instead it played a LITTLE WAYNE song. If i wanted to listen to bad rap, I would've stood outside Froggys at 9pm. Not only did it play a little wayne song, but it only played for like 45 seconds. As for my meal, I decided to opt-out of eating lunch today after my last experience here. Back in the day when this was the only restaurant option other than the Mohegan Diner, it was great - now that there are SO many restaurant choices, the last place I chose to go is to the diner! Had I seen this when I walked in, I would have walked out. Several patrons walked through the restaurant without their masks. I saw two in the kitchen without their mask on, what looked like a server and a cook. The waitress was very friendly. I hate the idea of jeopardizing anyone's livelihood. But when the owner does it himself, that's on him. Wearing a mask in your personal life can be your choice, but this is a business. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Save your money and your tastebuds by NOT GOING HERE. First of all it took almost 45 minutes for the food to come out. Server was rude and impatient. When we got the food everything was disgusting. The fettuccine alfredo was mushy and had pools of oil in it. Completely inedible!!!! and when we simply asked the manager to take it off the bill because we were not going to eat that garbage, she was immediate rude. The penne Al Vodka just simply tasted like straight up vodka and had a bitter taste. Now at the end when we got the bill it was crazy. This place is terrible. The owner propositions waitress for himself and his friends. He tried to pay $300.00 for sex. The prices are outrageous and most of the food is awful. The owner took a full roast beef out of the garbage and still served it even though the dept. of health said it was spoiled. The water is bad sometimes they have use a water truck.
