UNBELIEVABLE vegetarian and vegan eats with a creative menu and portions sized like if they were Super Mario after he ate the super mushroom. This place serves up organic, traditional, vegan (but also vegetarian and can basically turn almost anything into gluten free upon request). You want it, just say it. They can mix and match and adapt to your dietary needs which is so awesome especially when sitting down with a group of dietary alternative friends. It makes it easy and anyone can order what they want without feeling bad (physically and emotionally haha). Where do I even BEGIN with the food, the true star of the show. Came here with a dear friend that wanted to treat us to lunch and I was convinced I wanted to go the bowl route but when I saw chicken and waffles with fried oyster (I think) mushrooms instead of chicken, I was SOLD. This is such a hard one to ever be able to order since the only substitution they'll ever give you is fruit, or simply just a Belgian waffle. Not at Brooklyn Organic Kitchen. You order, they DELIVER. And my deliver I mean SLAY. Wow wow wow. Please look at my mushroom chicken and waffles, a work of art drizzled in this hot agave syrup with a kick. Just a touch. I told you the portions were super Mario size and just take a look at it, double "chicken" double waffle. You can order and share because the sizing here is huge. Yes, the prices are a little bit more elevated but you're also paying to eat organic food, with (almost) any dietary restriction possible. I also tried the vegan Philly cheese steak and my brain isn't doing well at comprehending HOW that mushrooms cut looked like meat. My brain is unwell at how they got it just RIGHT. From the flavors, to the portions to the presentation BOK is an incredible gem that I'm so glad we got to discover thanks to our friend. We left full, satisfied and with to go boxes but my belly was happy the next day getting to enjoy waffles (with fruit this time) right from home. It probably won't be possible for you to leave room for dessert since they kind of don't even let you leave with any room for even breathing after enjoying delicious homemade food BUT, if you so were inclined to or even managed to masterfully leave room for dessert (super Mario size), they do have muffins, cinnamon rolls, cake, cookies, cupcakes - all kinds of things. 7/9/24: We stopped in Brooklyn Organic Kitchen for a quick bite before the Petra Island Tour. The exterior is very inviting with planters, red umbrellaed tables and chairs. We sat at the counter. The menu had a lot of interesting dishes. The female who waited on us was delightful. They have a variety of large muffins: Gluten Free, Vegan and Regular. My friend and I shared a regular Peach Muffin. It was the best muffin ever! The ingredients tasted so fresh and pure. There was no oil after taste. In addition, my friend enjoyed a lavender ice tea. Went here for lunch and really enjoyed the fresh tasting food. To split for two people, we ordered the sesame ginger bowl with chicken, green juice, and truffled kale and chickpeas. The green juice was great and had a bit of a kick to it. The truffled kale and chickpeas were crispy and was a perfect sharing size. The sesame ginger bowl was good, however, it was sweeter than expected. We asked the server if there was anything making it sweet and he told us there was some maple syrup on the chicken. He was extremely kind and told us they could take it out for us now in the kitchen or in the future. We were of course happy that it was a natural sweetener, however, the chicken just didn't need the sweetness. I came here for brunch with a group of friends on a Sunday and had a great time. The place is clean and very straight forward, relaxed dining area. We had the mushroom calamari which was good but the breading was a little salty. I had the steak panini with arugula and goat cheese which was good but very heavy. Originally I was going to just get food to-go, but the environment was so inviting I decided to stay and sit at the counter. The servers were so kind and very patient with another customer who was being difficult. All they employees were wearing masks as well, which was comforting. I got the gluten free avocado toast with a poached egg. It was really well balanced and had a generous amount of avocado! Perfect! Cons: they went a little heavy with the almond milk and ice in my iced coffee. And the gluten free banana chocolate chip muffin that I got to-go was really bland, the banana tasted like it had gone bad, and the base was more like a cupcake flavor/texture. If I had only gotten the muffin and coffee... This would be a very different review. Definitely worth stopping in for a meal. YES YES YES YES YES! The is a must try spot located in the heart of Mahopac. Can you say vegan? This place does not have a vegan option..... they have MANY!! The make us vegans feel right at home with a vegan chef on staff. They have so many tasty options and even offer vegan muffins, brownies and sometimes cake. That staff is just phenomenal always so welcoming especially the owner who is just the sweetest person. One thing that can be a little scary is it's a little pricey which stops me from going there all the time, but you get what you pay for which is fresh and delicious food & drinks. The restaurant is always so clean and has such a warm/welcoming vibe. In the warmer months they even have outdoor seating. Overall so grateful and happy to have a place with veggie and fresh, higher quality food in the area! Love a lot of items on the menu, although skews a bit salty for my taste. Items for everyone on the menu from hamburgers to vegan nachos, salads, amazing smoothies. This would hands down be my go to place in the area as food wise it's what I like, but unfortunately the prices are outrageously high. The prices just feel completely off, way too high. Salads are about $20 and burgers, wraps, sandwiches $26-30. I work in Soho in Manhattan and even in that area these prices would be high. If the restaurant had a top notch location (like right on the lake- like the lakehouse across the street) I could justify the extraordinarily over priced menu, but the atmosphere is just ok. While some of the items like a he grass fed burger with fresh ingredients, I understand the price should skew higher than a regular burger, but $28 is just too high. It's higher than any burger at a comparable place in Manhattan (and again the ambiance is just ok). read more

I felt so rushed so I made a quick decision to go with an iced matcha latte. I got my drink within 2 minutes. I noticed they did not whisk the matcha powder and water at all. I've had mediocre matcha lattes before but this is the very first time ever in 15 years of drinking matcha lattes that I received a terrible drink!!!! It tasted like water with 5% matcha flavor. Look how dull the drink is!!! I couldn't even drink more than 1/2. I even gave my friend a sip before telling him my opinion so I can hear his first, he gagged and handed it back to me quick. The food here is soooo delicious and as a vegan married to a non-vegan we can always find something that appeals to us both. Basically every single menu item has a vegan option offered! The service can be a tad bit slow but everything is made to order so get cozy and remember it's worth the wait. The food is a bit pricey but the portions are quite large. Also just note they only have beer and wine and no liquor for cocktails. I've been here a few times and liked the variety of the menu and atmosphere during my first 2-3 visits. I might have even given them a good review. I know that I (regrettably) recommended BOK to a few friends from nearby Yorktown and Shrub Oak. Boy was I disappointed the last time I was there. The owner is one of those people whose pretention has gone to their heads/ Very elitist attitude, but what really burned me was her asking me not to use my laptop at her 'establishment'. This is not what 'we're here for'. Who the friggin' hell is she? It's not exactly some Michelin-rated fine dining establishment. It's a diner. Funny I thought that restaurants where there for the public, not to be a reflection of the owner's feeling towards people who need to work when they are having a meal. It's not like I was gaming or streaming. I was answering emails and logging into my company CRM. Not bothering anyone. No clicking or speaker on. Funny thing was that it was late afternoon and there was nobody in the place to bother even if what was her concern. I guess that I'm not the only customer that this b__ch turned off. Last time I step foot in there. BTW: The 'cheesesteak' that I ordered was not like a normal cheesesteak. My friend and I came in for restaurant week a few weeks ago on a Friday night. It was pretty busy and we did not have a reservation but were seated right away. The menu looked delicious and they had lots of options to drink. We ordered from the prix fix restaurant week menu. The hibiscus tostada as an app is beautiful to look and delicious to eat! Such a different dish that alone Id come back for. We eat ordered a cup of tea which was also great and they make their own tea bags! My coconut chai was so good I brought some tea bags home! I had the short rib entree which could be ordered traditional or vegan. I had traditional which was delicious! My friend had the salmon which she also raved about. Omg, this restaurant is a gem in the heart of Mahopac. I definitely recommend making the drive to visit because the food is absolutely delicious and there is a menu option for everyone. We came with a group of 5 people- 2 of which prefer vegetarian options. Let me start off by saying this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. There's a beautiful painting of the Brooklyn bridge on the wall and gorgeous flower settings on every table. There's huge windows that allow for you to enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Mahopac, or enjoy people watching. Perfect setting for a daytime date or fun brunch. There's outdoor and indoor seating including a bar dine-in area. You can also stop here for smoothies & coffee to go along with some banging muffins. Our group sat at the island in the middle of the restaurant, perfect for groups of 5-10 people. The menu has a variety of options including all day breakfast, crepes, sandwiches, salads, entrees, gluten free, and an entire section for vegan items. All items on the menu are organic- including their coffees and smoothies!! We started off with two flights of mimosas that included their fresh squeezed orange, pomegranate, cranberry and lavender juice. Our group ordered the banana Nutella crepes, the salmon club sandwich, crab meat crepes "Monsieur crepes", vegan potato skillet "vegan brosti", and the non vegan "brosti" with Black Forest ham, cheddar cheese and two poached eggs. To finish off our meals we ordered coffees to go including a "B Woken" shot!! Our coffee options included the Nutella baby, caramel latte and the papi chai latte. The omelet I had was delicious, large and came with well seasoned potatoes. The speciality latte the Nutella Baby was like a milkshake!
