The Olympic Lodge was the hotel for us when visiting Olympic National Park. They are part of the Ayres Hotel chain in Southern California with this being one of the only non-Southern California locations. They are located on the outskirts of Port Angeles by the golf course. They are very close to the park itself and makes for a great place to stay when visiting the park. We reserved a 2 queen room with a golf course view months in advance. They gave us a room on the second floor. The room was nice and cozy. The 2 queen rooms have a nice sized bathroom with a tub/shower combo. My wife and daughter did complain about with the soap and shampoo for their shower. It has been a while since we've seen a bar of soap as most hotels use body wash now. The shampoo is a shampoo and conditioner combo. They did not like the soap or shampoo. Breakfast is served downstairs. It was continental breakfast only. No meats. Just waffles, toast, cereals, juice and coffee. It was good enough for the 2 days that we stayed there. They do have an exercise room with treadmills, ellipticals and dumbbells for you to lift. It was less equipment than at some other hotels, but it was enough for you to get a good workout. This might be the best hotel in Port Angeles. You don't have much of a choice. If you visit Port Angeles and want a nicer hotel, this is the place. read more

Cute little lodge! My bf and I were just visiting from Renton so we only booked one night. The place was super cozy and clean, definitely on the older rustic side. Staff were very sweet and welcoming. Complimentary breakfast was also a great plus! Beds were comfy and the room was very nicely put together. Great place! Good for kids. We stayed here for 1 night at the beginning of our loop around the Olympic Peninsula. It's in a pretty convenient location. There were multiple restaurants within walking and driving distance. The hotel was very nice, clean, and the staff were kind and friendly. The lobby overlooks a golf course and is very pretty. The heated pool and hot tub were fantastic. They had a live guitarist in the lobby Friday evening. The continental breakfast was very convenient. I did not do research prior to booking because it was a random plan to go and visit olympic national park I went to booking.com and check hotels and the olympic lodge at ayres looks good and i just booked it Lo and behold it was a good decision my hubby was happier than me of the choice i made first it was located at a good spot port los angeles close to downtown which means close to stores , supermarket and food area !!! Second they helped me figure out what to see at the park knowing we have literally one day to explore that helps a lot !! My daughter and I stayed for 5 days while visiting Olympic National Park. The location is great. The hotel is close to the visitor center/Hurricane Ridge park entrance. Easy to get going in the right direction depending what we were doing that day. There were plenty of food options nearby including a Starbucks and Chipotle across the street. Our room had two queen-sized beds and was on the larger size. The bathroom was older, but everything worked good. The hot water in the shower worked well. The hotel is styled exactly as I would picture a "lodge" with stone floors and wood. The lobby is very nice with couches and a fire place for gathering. The outside pool and hot tub looked great (we didn't use) and people were using it. The staff was friendly. The included breakfast was on the healthier side (appreciated). There were hard boiled eggs and oatmeal with toppings and various small pasties (nothing special). No scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage. This was great for me to fuel a day of hiking. There was also a waffle station which I did not use. The room and hotel were clean. For us maybe too clean. My only negative was the hotel had a hefty chemical smell, and my daughter had an allergic reaction which steadily got worse. read more

Olympic Lodge is in a great location if you're looking to visit Olympic National Park. It is close to Hurricane Ridge and the Lake Crescent area. The lobby has a real "lodge" feel to it, but I would say the rooms look and feel like regular hotel rooms. Our room had two double beds and was clean / spacious (especially for two people). The hotel offers continental breakfast but it was dismal; the coffee was watered down, and the hard boiled cold eggs were not very appealing. They had some bread and fruit selection as well. The furnishings are well appointed not quite opulent but they feel luxurious. They've taken pains to make sure that the "lodge" feeling is authentic, with timber and wood fittings as well as stunning photography of the Olympic National Forest hung down the hall ways. It's obvious that the manager is keeping the place spic and span with excellent maintenance and attention to details. The room is always large with exquisite lighting. The rear-facing windows look out on to the golf course. It always makes me feel good to stay there. I also take advantage of the hot tub and pool (pool towels extra are available in the lobby). If you go, bring your swimsuit. Included in the nightly rate is a breakfast, which has at least some hot options like egg/potatoes...as well as the standard American nutritionally hollow products e.g. waffles/bread. Fruit/yogurt/granola elevate the offerings. Good coffee. Right off the driveway into the hotel is a nice walk up the hill into a neighborhood. There are walkable dining options (including a Jimmy Johns sandwich place). Great value, incredibly good service. Highly recommend. read more

Such a bummer - last time we stayed here it has a real lodge feel. A fire was burning in the lobby and the whole place smelled like cedar. This time we arrived to a broken elevator and no fire. The people working for the hotel didn't offer to help with luggage but other people staying there did. It was just a regular hotel. The breakfast was 3/5. Just your typical stuff. Had the most amazing experience here. The room was clean and well kept. The front desk staff, especially De, were amazing with feedback on where to eat and what to do on the trip. Perfect location if you are visiting Olympic national Park. The entrance to the park is only about 10 to 15 minutes along with the trails, about total of 30 to 40 minutes to trail heads. Nice place, very clean- staff seemed nice. Our room was right next to a fountain so we got to enjoy the water sounds, which was nice until we got a neighbor (or possibly a landscaping guy?) who ignored the "no smoking" signs, which ended our open door time. The reasons I deducted a star (and let me preface this by saying these are all minor things that all combined only took one star): The place was very clearly given a nice update, but for one of their more expensive "suites" it felt like just any other room you could find at any Super 8- with better makeup (very lodge-themed which is apparently just brown, leather, plaid, and forest). The "bathtub shower combo" is just a normal bathtub/shower like in every house in America (the curtain also leaks terribly and the tub struggled to hold water for a bath). The fridge was the second-smallest I've ever seen (the smallest being meant to hold 6 soda cans), and barely holds bottled water, and buzzed so loudly I had to unplug it at night, the bed was not the most comfortable, and the tv was hard to watch as there's no guide and it takes about 4 seconds to load each channel so even flipping through to find something took ages. Oh, and the continental breakfast was kind of gross. Hardboiled eggs peeled sitting out in a pan, orange juice tasted fermented, I think I saw some mini-muffins and bagels but I didn't have those, the make your own waffles were edible - no scrambled eggs or breakfast meats- that would have made it a little better. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, both appeared clean though. Despite what appears to be a lengthy list of "complaints" it's really not, more just things I noticed (other than the orange juice tasting fermented. That was pretty nasty but I didn't notice until I was back to my room so I didn't mention it to anyone). All that said though, we used to stay at Red Lion for our trips to town, and by comparison to that experience, this place is a palace and we will definitely return. read more

This place was so quaint and a perfect stop on our road trip in the middle of winter! The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The room was so cozy especially with the sliding doors that walk out into a lush green golf course with beautiful trees! They are also pet friendly which was great for our fur baby! They had a real wood burning fireplace in the lobby that the staff continuously kept alive. 10/10 recommend staying here when stopping in port Angeles! We were traveling from CA and did not know the area at all, so we leaned on the staff to help with information only local people would know and they couldn't have been more spot on and helpful, especially with information about our trip to Victoria BC! They were terrific! Now that said, our room was clean and comfortable! The lobby was GREAT with so much seating to relax, as well as a massive wood burning fireplace in the evening! The continual breakfast wasn't just a few bagels, muffins and toast. They had a full designed breakfast area with a golf course view! They had fresh cut fruit, pastries, cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs and waffles! We also found that if we needed a quick recharge, Starbucks and Chipotle were both across the street! It is very well maintained and nicely appointed even though the place has been here for quite a few years. I was told it was orginally a Best Western. I had a really amazing experience at Olympic Lodge, I had booked our room way in advance, as there are not too many lodging options in Port Angeles for those visiting Olympic National Park. The large lobby is inviting and very "National park" like with a cozy fireplace and park inspired artwork. Large windows look out to the hills and golf course right behind it and as an extra touch they had some welcome cookies in the lobby during check in hour. Parking was convenient to our room, although I noticed it did fill up in the evenings as it got closed to the weekend. The room was clean and spacious and I had opted for a lower floor with a patio. It wasn't fancy but having a nice outdoor space to relax in during the morning and evening was a nice touch. The pool and hot tub were clean, although I only used the hot tub once. My last night there it was very crowded. One annoyance (and not the fault of the hotel) was that while 8-9 is allocated for adults only in the pool or hot tub, families brought their kids in anyway. The free breakfast was just your typical buffet of scrambled eggs, various muffins, toast and English muffins along with cereal, oatmeal and yogurt. One suggestion is to offer some grab and go items. The signs discouraged people from taking items out of the dining room. Since people pretty much stay here to visit Olympic National Park, guests might be leaving early to make it to some of the crowded park areas in the morning. I felt uncomfortable grabbing a bagel or two for the road. Otherwise, everything was very nice. I wish I stayed an extra night. Very quiet and relaxing stay. read more

We stayed here for one night in Port Angeles before catching the ferry to Vancouver island. It was a nice place to stay. Little rustic which is the vibe as it's a lodge. People where nice and have us a map with a list of recommendations. Everything worked out. No guide on the TV cable in the room but I wasn't there to watch TV. Breakfast the next morning was pretty good except for the last making the breaded items at the counter. She ignored me for about 5 minutes so I said forget it. I would leave in the morning and set it for 67 and upon my return it was always 72 degrees, way too hot to sleep! Staff is friendly, breakfast is not good. I ate out every morning after my first morning at the hotel. The pool and jacuzzi are bit and the workout room is adequate. Breakfast: Even after preparing myself based on several poor reviews I read in advance, I rate the complimentary "continental" style breakfast 1 STAR, which reduced overall rating of establishment to my 3 STARS. Very limited food and drink choices, all so-so quality at best and bland to tasteless, such that we virtually ate nothing. I do note that the breakfast area was clean, staff worked hard and were friendly. We booked here because of how conveniently close it is to the olympic national park entrance. Sure the wifi was spotty and phone signal kinda sucked. But, we were here for the hiking and adventure. First let me say the rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Could it have been a bit cheaper? Sure, but after driving around port Angeles I'm glad we didn't stay anywhere else. Our room had a view of the nice golf course. The included breakfast wasn't going to win any awards but it wasn't terrible. It's your basic hotel breakfast buffet. After reading a couple of the reviews I was a bit skeptical about staying here. Glad I took that chance! First of all the location is great and being right off the golf course the views were beautiful. We arrived early and the staff was very accommodating and let us check in early. Each time a staff member was within eye contact they said hello or asked if they could make our stay more enjoyable. Beautiful room with very comfortable bed. We did not hear other guests unless they were right outside our door. We sat by the fire downstairs and totally relaxed. From check-in to check-out this hotel exceeded my expectations. We entered and were greeted by the staff and a beautiful lodge styled lobby. The front desk staff was amazing and the gentleman (Corey) who helped get us checked in was very nice, efficient and asked if we cared to receive any recommendations on places to visit. It was a seamless check-in process and ended with a freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookie. Shortly after entering our room & getting settled in, Corrie called our room just to check that everything looked great and met our expectations. He also made sure to let the concierge desk know if we needed anything else. The breakfast was plentiful and the coffee was perfect, not weak but not too strong. Checkout was just as easy. Convenient hotel to Hurricane Ridge and nice check-in staff (Emily and Shannon were awesome!) but not worth the money if you're just trying to get to Olympic National Park. Might want to check options in Sequim because Port Angeles doesn't have many others. We were at the Lodge for 2 nights and the first night both of our sinks were unusable and clogged. One of the sinks was filled with dirt or coffee grounds (see picture). We paid more to upgrade to a different room and one sink was clogged there. It's worth mentioning that the internet is also unusable. I called the staff both nights as I had to get some work done and their reply was that the routers are overtaxed and to try in the morning or come to the lobby. So if you need a sink or the internet don't book here. We asked for compensation for the sink issue and Paul, the manager, didn't think that clogged sinks were a big deal. If you do need to book here be sure to get the golf course side. The other side is super dark and depressing and gives a view of a bunch of concrete. It's only $20 more. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but the customer service was not there. When my friends and I went to check in, we were told it was going to be an extra $80 because we only booked the room for 2 people, not 4. Having made a strict budget for the trip (we were very close to saying at the super 8 next door and I kind of wish we had), this was quite the surprise. All four of us went in together, so it's not like we were trying to hide anything. We explained that we tried booking on two computers multiple times to book it for four and on each confirmation page it said 2 so we assumed it was a commonly known glitch. The manager (unfortunately did not catch her name) came out and told us that we were getting a great price because another hotel downtown (Olympic lodge is not downtown) was charging almost twice what we paid (given this was the price for booking day of, which we had not - we booked months in advance). She also rudely told us that this was common practice to charge more per guest at hotels and that if we traveled more we would know this. Each of us has spent months traveling in other countries and around the United States, so we are all pretty well traveled. In the end, we compromised and paid for one extra guest and we said we'd call the hotel if this sort of glitch happens again. Another unfortunate thing is that the hot tub was closed due to covid (understandable), but when we asked about this the front desk neglected to tell us that their heated pool was open. Otherwise, the room was fine and comfortable. They did have complimentary coffee and hot chocolate in the mornings as well as fresh baked lemon poppyseed muffins that were delicious. If it weren't for our terrible check-in experience, I probably would have liked this place, but I will not stay here again. read more
