We contacted Olympic Movers to help us do a local move in under a week. They came out and gave an estimate based on the amount of men, time and equipment that would be needed to complete the move and we agreed. The day of they showed up on time, worked courteously and diligently. Overall we were impressed with the work the movers performed. For the inital estimate they company insisted that a veteran member of the stuff visit the apartment to assess the job. The proposal offered by management was 4 men for 4 hours at the first location and 3 men for 3 hours at the second. On the day we only had 4 men for 1.25 hours and then 3 men for 11 hours. Our final bill was 26% higher than the estimate. I understand that an estimate is just that, and that it may take longer than you originally thought. However, if there is a drastic difference in what was planned and what was delivered in terms of man hours I think it's fair to ask for some consideration. When I asked management to decrease the bill to something more reasonable (which would still be 16% over the estimate; they refused). In addition they started applying pressure to me and my wife to pay immediately. They called my wife the day they emailed us their bill of loading asking for payment. They then called repeatedly the next day demanding payment, threatening enforcement of their contract and trying to drive up the pressure to get paid as soon as possible. The man had the gall to say that we should give them a good review since they showed up and worked so hard (this was the manager/assessor, he was not working as a mover that day). Again, I understand in this industry it can be difficult to collect on a service that was already delivered, but that was really not necessary here and using these tactics within one business day (we moved Friday, they emailed us the receipt Monday and started the pressure on Tuesday) of a major event seemed unwarranted. Overall would I recommend Olympic Movers? I guess I might with some caveats. Their movers did a fantastic job. However, their billing and sales leave a lot to be desired. If money is not a concern I would recommend them; if it is I'd recommend a larger or more reputable company that will deal with you more fairly. I say this because: - They made an estimate based on their own assessment of the job, changed the agreed upon allocation of men and failed to deliver within their timeframe which ended up costing us more. - They refused to accept responsibility on their end for the higher cost and refused to accept a fair comprimise for failing to meet their estimate. - They employed high pressure tactics to collect their money and solicit a positive review. read more

This is my 2nd review. I think relocating , unpacking, etc... is challenging for any family, right? We've all had to move at some point and it pretty much sucks. You'd think a moving company helping you pack and stuff would be a godsend, yes? Well, NO. Olympic moving and storage made it a thousand times worse. Called to schedule an estimate. Tried to adjust my appointment time by 15 minutes and was told they were just too busy. I adjusted my schedule by 15 minutes. Estimator showed up and did a walk through. Told me I would get a written estimate by next day. Never heard from them again. read more

Easy move, almost hassle free. Simple to set up - It only took about 30 minutes to get a fair quote from the moving agent at my former place. The movers called the day before to confirm the move. The moving team was professional and courteous. However on moving day they didn't bring the cross bars for the wardrobe boxes, so we had to resort to stuffing my wardrobe clothes into normal boxes - not a big deal for 3-4 hour moves. The only issue I had aside from the wardrobe boxes not having the cross bar was that my expensive brand new leather couch was ripped on the entrance way door jamb to my new place. TBD if the moving company will adequately cover the cost of repairs (still awaiting a quote). Other than those two issues, I had a great experience. The time I was quoted at was the time it took to move and the price seemed reasonable. read more

My move had more damage then ever before and I have moved 3 times in the last 5 years. The were hesitant to acknowledge they damaged a floor lamp but I have yet to receive payment for that. They also damaged a floor model paper shredder but stated that maybe it was broken before the move (now give me a break why would I pay movers to move a broken item). Dumb! Several pieces of wood furniture were damage in various ways that would have required a very firm/hard hit of some kind!! I did not recommend this company when a friend as for their name. But my friend highly recommends U-Haul & their movers who did a very good job for her move. read more

These guys are great! The movers were fast and efficient. They finished about 2 hrs earlier than anticipated and took great care of my things. I agree with the other poster here. I moved across the country and the team that unloaded my stuff from the national mover was contracted with Olympic. They did a decent quick job, so I figured I would used them again for a simple move across town. This move was a complete hassle. The company did not contact me to confirm the day before, so I was stuck wondering if they would even show. Since they charged by the hour the guys on the job did everything to milk the clock. They kept trying to socialize and stand around the whole time. I had to run out for a few mins to get food and when I got back the pace significantly slowed down. They also lied to me about how long it took to drive from Lakewood to Tacoma by trying to tell me they had to stop for gas. Why would you charge me for stopping for gas! Bring a fueled up truck please! I was charged a little over what the estimate was for, basically because they exaggerated the drive time and milked the clock. Also they were less than careful with my furniture. They did not wrap them with pads so the hand truck dug into my furniture. They also lost some of the parts to my couch that I didn't discover until I tried to put it back together. Also, they were not prepared to accept my credit card payment at the end of the move. If I could give negative stars, I would. BEWARE!!!!! They will gladly give you a free quote then tell you if you do some of the work yourself it will lower your bill. The guy told us if we did xyz it would lower our estimate to about $2400 from $3700. We worked our butts off to get it all done and did exactly what he said. The end of moving day and he gives me the bill, $3700!!!!!!! Their response? They have a signed contract and the estimate is just an estimate. Unfortunately I took him at his word and didn't think to have him write it all down. I'm so appalled and frustrated. Single mom, stressed to the max having to move to begin with and trusted a business that is NOT trustworthy. I gave them all the cash I have. Can't squeeze blood from a turnip. read more

We used Olympic Moving & Storage, Lakewood, WA, to move our household goods out of a residence we sold and into storage while we lived in an apartment waiting for the new house to be completed. We were told the fee we paid would cover the move out and also the move in to the new residence when it was ready. We also paid a monthly fee for the interim warehouse storage. We contacted Olympic when the new house was move in ready and were told they had made a mistake in the original agreement and we'd have to pay the original amount again to deliver our furniture from storage. When the truck arrived and the trailer was opened, our furniture was piled haphazardly in the trailer, much of it without pads or covers. A lot of it was either damaged and/or destroyed. We found out later that the trailer was left out in a yard, closed up but subject to the changing temperatures and humidity. The company has since done everything possible to delay or deny our claims process. We purchased full replacement value insurance but Olympic would only address the simple fixes that involved repairs to the wood furniture caused by their physical neglect or moisture issues from sitting outside in the trailer, and those repairs have taken well over a year. They would not address or replace the items that were damaged beyond the point of repair, even though we had purchased the additional replacement insurance. It's going on 20 months now and they still have not provided equitable restitution for the damage they inflicted. Bottom line: DO NOT USE Olympic Moving & Storage, Lakewood, WA! read more

I don't recommend this company! They didn't do a pre-inspection to see what they needed for packing. The company had 4 days to pack and load. They showed up late the first day but did work a 6hr day. The next day the packers were here 11hrs because they did not want to come the 3rd or had another job. Honestly, I am just speculating but either way, they should have been packing on the 3rd day. The 4th day, they were at our home for 14 hrs! We sent them home at 10pm. We have a 4 year old who needed sleep! Plus at hour 11, one of the movers hurt himself! Then at 10:30 pm and semi showed up to our home to move the trailer. The items in the trailer we not secured to move and who knows where they were taking our household goods! My husband told them to leave it since they were not done packing our stuff! We are on day 5 now and it's 9:40 am and no is here to finish the work. They have about 3 to 4 hrs of work left! Packing material was sparse. Some of our items were not even wrapped. An experienced worker was sent with inexperienced workers which slowed the process. I am not looking forward to delivery. I have a feeling my household items will be damaged. My husband and I are veterans and this was not our first move. This, by far, is the worst moving company we have dealt with!! I had a bad experience with this moving company for several reasons. Number one they were very disorganized and the office would not give the correct information to their sales person and movers. Therefore, they both had to deal with being lost and not being able to communicate with us. I had made an appointment for a Friday move at 0830 on that Monday. However, they did not have their paperwork until Friday of the the move. This resulted in movers calling me at 0835 to report they would come between 11 -1, and arrived at 1;35pm. One of their workers had an issue, which happens but a company should be able to have a back up plan for when this happens. For example, let someone else take over that employees work. It was not fair for us to not know what was going to happen until the day of the move. When I tried to call to try and fix the situation the office clerk that answered was not polite and the manager was also rude and unprofessional. Overall, I received bad customer service and would not recommend this place to anyone. I believe something should have been done to help appease the situation, but nothing was done, sadly. The movers did an average job, because they left a lot of stuff at the house that should have been taken with them, even though they were told everything would go except for a couple of small items. read more
