She also was telling us about their Reiki Sessions that they offer. Along with their Group Meditation they have on Thursday's. She also CLEANSED/SAGED the crystals before we took them home. I came here for English Dhamma Night last month and it was great. We received instruction from one…read moreof the monks, a kindly man who smiled and taught us how to do both walking and mindfulness of the breath meditations. They reinforced multiple times that we were welcome to visit whenever and that we were never expected to provide donations; they were simply happy to have more Americans visit and learn. The monk was assisted by an American convert who helped clarify any confusion and told us how and why he came to Theravada Buddhism. He was a really nice, very polite, and incredibly friendly man and he helped us feel a lot more comfortable in a strange and new setting. The meditation center is small but very beautiful with gorgeous statues and icons. The main area, where the statue of the Buddha is located, is calm and peaceful and meditation pillows are provided to make meditating more comfortable. Overall, I had a very positive experience and I intend to go back to the next English Dhamma Night that falls on a day when I don't work in the evening. If anyone is curious about Theravada Buddhism, this is a great place to visit.

Oh, and of course... the food! Though Living Zen Organics has disbanded since the pandemic, Myungju is beginning to start doing temple brunches again. The first was today and it warmed my heart to see 40 folks digging into mermaid stew, kale salad, butternut squash soup, roasted root veggies, tea, etc like the good old days.
