We came here after seeing an online video showing what looked like an amazing buffet with all-you-can-eat crab legs and shrimp. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. We visited on a Sunday and were charged full dinner price, even though it was lunchtime--but most of what was available felt like leftover lunch items. The food was cold, dried out, and honestly not appetizing at all. The meat was especially tough and hard to chew, which made it even worse. The biggest letdown was the crab legs. We were repeatedly told they'd be out in "10 minutes," but we waited over 30 minutes. When they finally brought some out, there was barely anything--just a few pieces--and they were gone almost instantly. Definitely not what was advertised. The restaurant itself was clean, but it felt pretty rundown and not well maintained. Several food areas were empty, including desserts, and the drink machines were nearly out or barely working. As I was getting ready to leave, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and walked in and it was disgusting. It smelled like throw up, and it looked like somebody had thrown up. One of the most frustrating parts was the drinks. As soon as you sit down, they immediately come to your table and ask what you want to drink, which makes it seem like it's included--but sodas are actually charged separately. It felt very misleading, so just be aware of that. Overall, the whole experience felt disappointing and poorly managed. We will not be returning and would not recommend this place. read more

My friend and I are at this place on a Sunday evening. First off, the ambiance looked very pleasing with the lightning and the presentation. The service also was decent as our drinks were filled often and our dishes were hauled away However, That's where my positive experience ends. The food later gave me and my friend a bad case of food poisoning. I won't go into too much detail but I've spent time in the bathroom with a separate garbage can. None of the food looked fresh. It had that look of being passable. To be fair, I'm going to assume they were going to be closing up shop soon so they probably chose not to prepare any more food that evening. Most of the sushi was questionable they definitely had that fake taste like from the tuna and the selection was very sparse. Perhaps the worst of it was one of the gyozas I had was the filling literally tasted like bleach in one of them. My hope was at my friend and I came on a night that was very off for them. It took many hours of my stomach to calm down finally. I'm sure if we went on another night things might improve, but to be honest at this first experience will likely be my last experience. read more

We've been to Ombu before and really enjoyed it, but this visit was a bit disappointing. The variety wasn't the same as in the past, and several items didn't seem very fresh. Most of the food was just warm instead of hot, which really affected the overall experience. The environment is still nice and the staff was polite, but unfortunately the food quality and selection didn't live up to what we expected this time around. Plenty of parking here and the price was ok. I mean I lived in Las Vegas for awhile so I am used to the pricing of a buffet. If you go during lunch prices are cheaper. They had a lot of seafood dishes but they also has a lot of other options for non seafood eaters which was great! They had plenty of seating and food options and their bathrooms were clean and nice. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and always checked on us. I think some of their dishes need improvement but all in all it was worth the drive. And the food was good! read more

Ambience and service was top tier and fabulous. As far as food, don't expect great quality. It's buffet food for sure. I had read a few reviews saying people got food poisoning so if anything tasted slightly off I stopped eating it. That happened about two times while there. It wasn't super fresh. I did love a couple of their dishes though. We paid 25 dollars per adult. I don't think we'd go back but we didn't get food poisoning if anyone is worried about that. read more

The food is fresh and there is a lot to choose from, but there were only a couple of things I found myself interested in. I went with sushi lovers so it worked for them and they were willing to try unknown things. I struggled when I went to the prepared hot dishes where there was an elderly woman eating directly off the buffet trying things to see if she liked them. The staff though are very hard working, the restaurant is clean and the desert section and specialty drinks were fun for kids. Worth going one time, but not sure iif id go again. read more

Beautiful place. Lots of seating, with semi-private walls, that accommodate a large group. Standard Chinese buffet fare except for oysters (presumably dinner time only), Cajun-style crayfish, couple dim sum items, and others I may have forgotten. Food were not piping hot as you would find in a regular Chinese restaurant. Though they could have been much warmer. Be aware when you pay as you enter, they tack on a 10% service fee at the onset. They had lots of dishes to choose from, sushi, soups, lots of shrimp and seafood dishes, salads, fruit, desserts and many beef, pork and chicken dishes to try. Their prices are pretty reasonable. To say that out of all the people who came today- not a single one of us felt like it was worth the money. After eating the rest of the food- I was not about to try the raw sushi. Nice wait staff, our girl was super cute and helpful. It tried to have an upscale feel. Fruit tasted like it was left in the fridge next to an open container of onions. Sushi just looked dried out. Certain items were not cooked all the way or tasted or smelled like it's old. To charge 25.99 because it's a holiday is a trip. "Weekends and holidays are $25.99 and the drinks are not included. This was our first time visiting this restaurant tonight. We went in shortly after opening at 4:30 and the food was cold and tasted old. It did not look appealing at all and tasted even worse.. After 15 minutes, we all decided we had enough of the grossness (everything was cold and dried out), and upon leaving the manager asked if everything was OK when I informed him that the food was not very good and told him it tasted old. He replied with, well we just put it out to which I replied exactly, and it tasted horrible. I have zero doubts they are reserving food from either the lunch run or a previous day. I do not know the laws on that, but when dealing with various seafood types it does not make me feel safe. Avoid this restaurant at all cost!! Service is great but the food wasn't really that great. For me, price and food should match and this place reminded me of a bigger Chinese buffet. The oysters are not fresh and the food isn't cooked too well, the dessert station was great but that's about it. The Sushi station was ok but not great. Better places to pick from based on pricing. Really wanted to like this place. The decor is great, the place is immaculately clean, service is exceptional. But the food? Not so much. Much of the seafood looked dubious at best, and nothing was more than lukewarm, which is a red flag for illness. The shell-on shrimp still had "veins" and the Cajun crawfish may not have been properly purged, either. Oysters on the half shell were dried out and scary. Fried fish fillets were tough and dried enough to need a knife. Oddly, although there are signs everywhere that tips are not necessary because they add 10% automatically, there is a large box on the receipt for tips. One and done for us. read more

My family and I had dinner at the Ombu Buffet two weeks ago on a Saturday night. After reading many positive reviews we were excited to try it. What a letdown. I don't know what all the fuss is about. Throughout the entire evening, I felt like I was attending a Sam's Club frozen food buffet. Ombu Buffet didn't really excel at anything except high prices and tons of bland average tasking food. I was especially disapointed by their meat entrees. You would think an Asian inspired buffet would at least have decent Chinese beef and port ribs. Both of these were tough as wood! Needless to say, my young grandsons (ages 10 and 15) enjoyed the experience only because they could try whatever they wanted and plenty of it, and could care less about quality. All of the adults in our group were very disappointed considering the cost and bland tasking food. I still can't get the image of one large platter that simply contained warmed over slices of Hillshire Farms smoked sausage out of my head. The dessert section was also a huge disappointment. At least the completely tasteless little pieces of previously frozen cake bits were pretty to look at. At $30 per person, we won't be going back to Ombu Buffet!
