I went in for my very first massage ever with Laurie, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. I was quite nervous going in, especially because it was during a very tender week for me with the upcoming one-year milestone of my dad's passing. This was actually a gift from my high school swim team, and I didn't really know what to expect. Laurie immediately put me at ease. Her presence is calming, and she has a way of making you feel safe and comfortable right away. Beyond her skill (which is excellent), what stood out most was how much care she brings into her work. It doesn't feel transactional at all--she genuinely seems to love what she does, you can feel that in her work. She helps you connect into your bodies needs! The experience ended up being surprisingly healing. I was able to release a lot of stress and grief I'd been holding onto, be really present and even felt a meaningful sense of connection and reflection during the session. This place is adorable!! Went in to my usual colorist Jackie Hansen and as always she did an amazing job. She knows just how to blend my grays in with blonde highlights so that the grow out isn't noticeable. She's a genius and I highly recommend her for color. Mary gave me a gorgeous cut afterwards and she was just lovely and her cut and style was the perfect finishing touch. The adorable salon ambience is the cherry on the cake! I wanted a new cut for before my birthday. I'd never been to Ombu but the reviews for cuts looked good. I was scheduled with Kellie. I had an idea for a long bob. She went into a lot of detail with the consultation and explained that we could definitely get to what id like in the photo, but it would take a little more planning than just one visit. My hair just wasn't the same as the girl's in the Pinterest pic (go figure ). She let me know what would work with my hair and we went to work. She was great about gate keeping the amount being cut and kept checking in each time, which I really appreciated. I'm super happy with the bangs and face framing! Heading back soon for a gloss and two months later, more cutting to get closer to the long bob goal. It smelled really nice in the salon with candles lit and they have an epic, live plant wall. Haircut $75 + tip, an hour from start to finish but I was chatty in the beginning. I enjoyed my experience there! read more

I went in for a haircut (Jan 2020) after 4 years of letting my hair grow wild. I had a lot of damage and split ends that made my hair look very frazzled. Minwon was great in understanding my hair texture and advising what was best to make my hair healthy again. I loved my haircut and look forward to seeing her again for my first time coloring my hair! Update after Balayage + Cut (October 2020) I was very new to coloring and Minwon was happy to answer any questions I had and taught me how to best care for my curly hair as well! I loved how the balayage turned out. Since it was my first time, I didn't want a color that was too bright and would look natural with hair growth. UPDATE: The owner of the salon, Beth, just called me to tell me they cancelled my upcoming appointment, because obviously I was not happy with my services and I did not go about it the right way. I reminded her I went about it the right way and gave her the respect of emailing her before posting anything online and when I did, she did NOTHING to try to fix their mistakes!!! They did not offer to fix my bad haircut or actually give me the hair color that they charged me for...or give me a discount as I requested. I absolutely love Ombu! I found them on Yelp (of course! ) I had been going to the same salon for over 13 years before and I wanted a change. I explained what I was looking for and the owner, Beth, recommended Tiana. I am so glad that she did. I was immediately relaxed when I arrived at Ombu. They have adapted COVID safety procedures very well, and I work in the hospitality industry so that means a lot. They have the appropriate practices in place while keeping things friendly, comfortable, and not overwhelming. Tiana is a gem. Since I wanted a full balayage and my hair hadn't been done in four plus months, we spent over four hours on it! It was fun to get to know her and even from the first chat about what we were going to do, I knew I could trust her. She was great about asking what I was looking for and really assessing what I would be comfortable with. And the minute she took out the scissors, I knew she was a pro - so quick! It was awesome to see Tiana's creativity come out with the color. She is incredibly professional and talented. I also learned a lot about my hair in the process, like how it was damaged when I thought it was flyaways, and how I can actually get away with washing it every three days as long as I have the right products and style! Never before was that possible. I love how my hair turned out. It is easier to style, it's healthier, and it feels more like me. It was a relief to find a fun, relaxing, and inviting salon like Ombu and a talented, creative, and kind stylist like Tiana. Looking forward to my next appointment, highly recommend. read more

Would not recommend this salon. There were other issues but this salon was convenient to home so made the best of it. Had been going here for over a year and a half but my last experience made me feel very unappreciated. Poor time management and salon manager who tried to blame me for her scheduling issues. I walked out with my hair finger dried - not styled - and didn't get highlights. I had been waiting 45 mins when I went to front desk to ask when next stylist would be available and was told she was running late ... very late bc the stylist was fixing another clients "coloring gone wrong" issue. Manager was on her way out until she saw me at front desk. She did not try to make the situation right. Said stylist would call to reschedule and would give me "some kind of discount". No phone call ever came. This used to be an upscale salon....no more. Have already found another salon who completed the unfinished job left by Ombu. read more

I have been going to Ombu Salon for seven or eight years and thought I had found my forever home with Nadina waxing my brows and tinting my brows and lashes. She's always done a fantastic job, so I was extremely disappointed to get a call the day before my last appointment saying that Nadina was no longer with Ombu and they needed to reschedule me with another esthetician at a different time. This was especially crappy because this appointment was timed to be days before my wedding and I later found out that Nadina had been gone for weeks before I was contacted. My main complaint is that they waited until I wouldn't have time to look at other options to try to get me to see someone else at their business. This caused me a fair amount of stress on an extremely busy week. I have been consistently going to Ombu for my hair and continue to be very happy with it. I decided to sign up for the facial club because, why not add some more self care. Ashley does my hair so it seemed natural to have her do my facial and I couldn't be happier. Ashley is just wonderful. I feel like she really listens to my concerns or questions. She doesn't push product needlessly. If I need something, she offers suggestions. I can't believe how good my face feels every day with a very minimal skin routine. As far as the facial, lovely! Her fingers seem to move in a carefully choreographed dance across my face. It's so mesmerizing and relaxing. If I'm feeling chatty, she seems happy to chat, but if I'm quiet and sedate then she's conscientious of that too. I always look forward to my monthly facial. read more

This five star rating is for LAURA the esthetician. Never used their hair services. Got brow sugaring done once and the lady stabbed me with tweezers. I only realized this after the fact because I had a scab on my brow. She was way too rough. The one massage I've had here was just ok. So ANYWAY Laura is wonderful. She's an amazing esthetician. She's very sincere and genuine and truly wants to be of help to improve your skin. I've noticed a difference after seeing her just a handful of times. I will continue to see her for facials for sure! I met Tiana with a butchered self attempt of layered hair and big dreams to do peekaboo color underneath. She gave me an honest assessment: I followed her suggestion to cut my hair short to match the layers, and to instead have the peekaboo be at the front while we wait for my hair to reach the proper volume for my original request. It has been about a week and I am so happy with my hair. I feared that short hair would make me look older, but having the peekaboo color at the front actually made me fall in love with this length even more. I had work two days later and somehow my new hair being tied up in a high ponytail got me a customer's number (this has never happened within the year I've worked so far, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of my "nice eyes.") Overall, I would not mind keeping this length/style until we can attempt the peekaboo underneath! Tiana takes her time to understand the whole situation before she starts. She always gave me options to choose from at every step of the bleaching and coloring process. I felt listened to and cared for, even though I had already trusted her judgement since day 1 and was willing to do whatever she wanted :) The staff and vibe of this salon were all so nice. And did I forget to mention? They have a Japanese brand toilet with a heated seat and a bunch of other functions! This place is homey AND futuristic. I've been looking for a new stylist for a while now so randomly decided to try Ombu. New stylist, new style was what I needed. I showed Amanda a couple of pictures of the style I wanted (changing from medium length hair to short hair), and she nailed it. Probably the best cut I've had in a number of years. I was very pleased. The receptionist was also very friendly and made me feel comfortable. I will definitely be going back top Ombu for futures cuts. Great experience! read more

They let my favorite esthetician in Edmonds (Nadina) go... I don't know what they were thinking. She was the only one I trusted for a safe, clean and first class waxing service. The new esthetician they hired, I will never go back to and they didn't even notify me that I would be seeing someone different. This should be something they disclose during their appointment reminders, Especially when it's a very private area. My Bikini was was not done correctly, and I left feeling uncomfortable... Cail Baker cut & styled my challenging hair & made it look amazing! I also had her add on toner & deep conditioner treatments. At 66yrs. old, invading gray & white hairs left my hair feeling like straw, as well as difficult to style. I'm now very happy with how it looks, it's manageable & feel soft as a result. Needed a quick massage because I woke up feeling like I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade! Called around town and nobody could get me in today, some not even this year. Ombu fortunately had an opening so I scheduled a 30 minute session with Michelle. Sweet Jesus, this lady has the hands of an angel! I cleared my work schedule to accommodate the appointment availability, which was already very limited, in order to get a color before my wedding. Not only did I walk out without my hair done, they did not even put my appointment in correctly. I was told that everything I wanted done (touch up to my color post-balayage treatment a couple months ago) couldn't be done. I went to leave, then conceded to have an overall color done, as I was told that could be accommodated. I returned to find that the stylist had already left (at the very start of her shift). she returned 10 minutes later, and then said she then didn't have time for this color, and she also couldn't do overall color anyway now. I left a second time, hair undone, wasting time, scrambling to find another place to have my hair done. I will not return and will never recommend this place to anyone. Horrible customer service, clearly unskilled in basic hair color, and unwilling to work with a customer. read more

I had literally done NOTHING with my hair for a year and it was overgrown and definitely needed an update! I am relatively new to the area and was so happy to have found this salon :) Parking was easy, the salon is beautiful with huge windows everywhere and when I walked in, I was immediately greeted with a smile by Heather and she was very pleasant checking me in. Sometimes, I get weird snooty vibes at salons, but not here...Extra points for that! My stylist, Elyssa was attentive to my needs and gave me exactly what I asked for. I wanted something updated, but professional. She cleaned up all my overgrown layers, and gave me very subtle bayalage highlights that gave dimension, but wouldn't be fussy growing out.
