I cleared my work schedule to accommodate the appointment availability, which was already very limited, in order to get a color before my wedding. Not only did I walk out without my hair done, they did not even put my appointment in correctly. I was told that everything I wanted done (touch up to my color post-balayage treatment a couple months ago) couldn't be done. I went to leave, then conceded to have an overall color done, as I was told that could be accommodated. I returned to find that the stylist had already left (at the very start of her shift). she returned 10 minutes later, and then said she then didn't have time for this color, and she also couldn't do overall color anyway now. I left a second time, hair undone, wasting time, scrambling to find another place to have my hair done. I will not return and will never recommend this place to anyone. Horrible customer service, clearly unskilled in basic hair color, and unwilling to work with a customer. read more

I have lived in Edmonds forever and I've walked past Ombu so many times. I finally decided to make an appointment and I am glad I did. My hair has never looked better. Ellie did an amazing job with the cut and Ombre color. The cut is perfect and the color is to die for. My hair has been colored off and on for the past 23 years by various salons and I have to say this is the first time I have been 100% happy with the color. Heather at the front desk was so kind and friendly, and the owner, Beth, was also kind and welcoming. This place is FANTASTIC! I booked the sampler package for myself and a friend and a mani/pedi for a second friend. I picked this place after stopping in and chatting with Nadina. She is sooo helpful and sooo sweet--the perfect person to meet at a new place. The three of us were all VERY pleased. Neesha gave us facials and Emily gave us massages; both these ladies are incredibly talented and have hands from heaven. The package also included a hairstyle and my friend added on a cut. Sarah not only made us look fabulous, she also has a wonderful personality and really seems to enjoy what she's doing. It's great to be able to chat and laugh it up while you're getting pretty. Carla did our nails (I hear she is also a great hair stylist!). I'm used to going to the typical nail salon where they get you in and out as quickly as possible, slopping polish across your toes. It was lovely to get a nice soak and massage and an expert paint job. And, just like Sarah, Carla is an absolute delight: personable and funny and great to talk to. Ombu is a great salon and spa: good location and layout, nice products, but what really sold me on the place were the employees. After spending several hours with them, I felt like I had new BFFs. Disappointed. Came in with a picture of a haircut I liked. Stylist took one look and gave me a basic inverted bob. I had to ask for some layers, which she added in random places around my head. Not the worst haircut ever, but came away with a STRONG impression stylist did not know anything beyond the basics. Also, left side of hair is a little bit longer than the right. Sigh. read more

I have to say that although initial color was changed ok but the follow up hair service was not satisfactory - color formula didn't look same and now my hair looks weird. Perhaps it depends on the stylist (mine was changed to a new stylist because original stylist left and they only had color formula so who knows). When I called to inquire about making a haircut appointment I was quoted a price that I thought was a little high but she informed me that my stylist was a "master stylist". So I went ahead and made my appointment. Great stylist, great cut, but when I went to go pay the receptionist charged me TWENTY dollars MORE than she quoted me over the phone! I told her my frustations with the pricing and she said the best she could do was offer me a "small" discount (not nearly enough to cover the twenty dollar gap). Very unprofessional! I went to Ombu for a more drastic cut and saw Tiana. First off, she's just a cool person. She also does an amazing shampoo, girl gives an epic scalp massage! But her hair cutting skills are gorgeous, she did exactly what I asked for with precision. I'm hoping I can get her to do my color soon, I fully trust her with my hair and that's saying a lot! Huge fan of this salon! Besides the great customer service and friendly employees my hairdresser knew exactly what I needed. I was paired with Tiana and came in with an old balayage from a different salon. She knew right away what I needed and color corrected my hair and it came old beautifully and I fell in love. I went in for an acne facial today with Nadina, and had a great experience! My skin is breaking out pretty bad and Nadina had great information for me and I learned a lot about my skin. The facial was great and I have already scheduled my next. They did have products afterwards, but I wasn't pressured at all to buy. I did end up purchasing them, because I was already on the market for something new because what I am using now is obviously not working for me. My husband got me a facial and massage package here for Valentine's Day so I went and used it last week. Overall experience was really good. My massage with Emily was FANTASTIC! An hour went by really fast. Next I had a facial with Cynthia. The facial was ok. I was hoping for more exfoliation and serums but got what seemed to be more of a 20 minute facial massage and a couple of creams. I wasn't disappointed with it, but guess I was expecting more since my other facials have included more serums and exfoliation. I didn't even get any steam treatment. However, I was a little put off when I called to set up a time with them. My husband said he paid for everything and all I had to do was call and give them my name and set up an appt. Well first I just emailed them on Saturday telling them that I'd like to set up a time the following Friday for a massage/facial appt that my husband bought for me. I sent it early morning and never received a response. I then decided I should call them and called them Sunday afternoon and got Jordan, who was a little off putting. I told her that my husband bought me a massage/facial and I'd like to schedule for Friday if possible. I gave her my name and said it may be under my name or his. She then tells me "Oh yeah, I see your email here". So why didn't you respond to it?? Then she keeps telling me that the only way we can book you is if you have a deposit. Apparently she wasn't understanding what I said in my email and to her on the phone just then that my husband paid for my services and it should be there under his name. She kept saying "Did he give you a gift card?" No! He called and paid for them. Finally got it taken care of but she seemed a little snide on the phone. read more

I've never posted a review - anywhere - but my experiences at Ombu are consistently fabulous! Michelle is the best hair stylist I've EVER had! She takes the time to get to know you then works her magic to give you a style that really works with your life! I don't usually get compliments on my hair...actually, I never do...but since going to Michelle, I've had friends, colleagues, and former supervisors tell me that I look great...younger, even! It's the hair, I tell them. And the best part about it is that I don't ever have to spend more than 5 minutes styling my hair! I finally know what a great style looks and feels like! For those of you who don't really venture out of Seattle, Ombu is a beautiful and hip new salon + spa in downtown Edmonds. They've got it all with professional and friendly staff, plenty of parking, clean and spacious areas, and they're close to several great coffee shops! It's DEFINITELY worth the drive. Michelle, one of the owners is an amazing stylist and as sweet as pie. Every one of their products is amazing and I love that most of the girls in there know a good deal about each product so they are sharing from experience rather than simply reading the back of the label. Ombu is great. I actually had been getting my hair done for years from the owner, Michelle M. (who is fantastic) before she opened Ombu. Now, I get all my esthetics done there. Nisha, the Esthetician has done an amazing job on my eyebrows, (which were botched once when half was taken off EEK) and I can't wait to get a facial from her! Everything they use is organic, and the ambiance is amazing. It is so chill there, you feel like you could (and I almost have) fall asleep on the heated bed you get waxed on! The first day that i came in, it was for a haircut with Sarah and i immediately loved her! she has fantastic confidence (something i need from hairstylists to ensure that they can give you what you want).
