My long-time stylist having recently retired, I checked Yelp for reviews and found a place in downtown Edmonds with online booking through Yelp. I scheduled my appointment and received a confirmation letter. Today, the receptionist could find no record of my appointment. I showed her my iPad with the confirmation letter. She admitted it was her salon but took no accountability for the appointment which she said was made unbeknownst to her. I left and walked a couple doors up the street to Ombu (a much better-looking salon btw) where fortunately for me Andrea had time to see me due to a shortened previous appointment. I see Nisha for my brows and she is out of this world amazing!! Love her, she has a true gift for wax and skincare. I see Nicole for hair and I love that she takes the time to get to know my style. Carla has been doing my hair for almost 3 years now, and she is the absolute best. She is creative and she listens and she's got a great personality that makes the entire experience a lot of fun. Sometimes I have very specific ideas of what I want, and she consistently delivers. Sometimes I sit down in her chair and say, "Do whatever you want!" and those cuts/colors always always turn out fantastic. She's done up-dos for me on 3 occasions and they were all gorgeous. I went today for hair color and can't be more happier with the results. Ashley knows exactly the color I want, knows how to cut my bangs and introduced me to great hair styling products. Sidney is a sweetheart. She's quick to help, and very efficient. She is knowledgeable about the skin products I'm interested in. Everyone was very nice. I had a facial and massage. Both people were very knowledgeable about what they were doing. The product line they used, and also sell, has been around for a long time and is all plant based. Well I decided to treat myself...so I googled online and found this place. I go there for facial and I always have an great time! My esthetician is Laura and she does an amazing job. She is friendly, and full of knowledge and I always enjoying talking to her or asking problems with my face. The product they use can be pricey...but I think they are worth it. I can definitely can see a change on my skin! I also went there for massage and I had Tina for my massage therapist. My back was hurting a lot from sitting so long at work so I had to do something about it. Tina did an amazing job! I don't have a back pain anymore! She also told me how my back pain was affecting other areas of my body and told me some stretches I should do to avoid back pain for the future. Friendly staff with full of knowledge! I have been going to Ombu for years and just love them. The people, the atmosphere and the products. I have had my hair colored by other salons around Edmonds and the color I get at Ombu is amazing. My hair is always so soft afterwards and the color is rich and does not fade. I've had some small struggles lately as I transition to an edgy short hair cut but we are getting there :-). The ladies are ALWAYS willing to please and really know their stuff. I really appreciate and rely on their expertise. Andrea rescued a clunky cut with ease. I am still new to the area and hadn't found my new stylist -- until now. I was worried my hair hadn't grown out enough from a bad cut, and I was concerned that Ombu would be too hip for my style (professional - but not stuffy - over 60). Andrea translated my explanations and hopes for my hair into something that looks tidy but still fun and specific to my face and hair type. The whole ambience of the salon was just right: lovely and peaceful, while still welcoming and comfortable. Everyone from front desk staff to other stylists seemed happy and organized. (This matters to me - it's no fun being in a place if you get the vibes of behind-the-scenes workplace drama.) Prices are justifiably higher than walk-in places, but you could pay more at salons of this quality. read more

Terrible customer service. Emailed a question through the website to ask about perms. Did not receive a response within a day so I decided to follow up. I was informed by reception the email was received, but she was trying to confirm if they will be doing the service in the New Year. Strike one: you should have emailed to notify me you were looking into it. I assumed the business was being flaky. I called back at the beginning of this year. Was told by reception they still don't know and will need to get in touch with owner. She said she would get back to me same day. Strike two: Did not receive a response via email until the next day. I proceeded to ask additional questions about the service. Strike three: Never received a response. Followed up a second time. Still have not received a response. That is a good way to keep potential customers away. Don't offer a contact through email to your business, if you cannot follow up. It's simple. read more

Leah gave me the best haicut in years. After 7 years of marriage my husband commented that this was only the 2nd haircut that I came home loving my cut. The premise behind the Salon is awesome. All of their products are natural or organic and the staff is super friendly. Leah was my stylist and was very professional and friendly. My review is not for the salon itself (which was very cute), but for the waxer. I had a bikini wax there and will not be going back. First of all, the girl was incredibly slow.To make the whole process even slower she kept the wax across the room from the table so she had to cross the room every time and I ended up with "warm" wax. It looked as though the waxing was done in the same room as facials or some other spa treatment so the room was very dim. You need light to wax, not mood lighting! Overall bad experience. read more

When i came in i was told she wasn't there and was running late, like 45 min late! I had to take time off work to be there for this appointment and would've really appreciated a call to let me know about the delay. When she came in, there was no 'sorry' or anything like that - just business as usual. I really don't appreciate when people don't respect my time, i was there on time and wish they were too or at least a call to let me know they were running late. They did have my phone #. I've walked by Ombu many times and was considering going there for a cut. However, I looked at their website and noticed that they have different pricing for men's and women's cuts. When I called to ask why, the receptionist explained that men's hair and women's hair are "different" and that men's cuts, being shorter, typically take 1/2 hour and women's typically take 45 minute to 1 hour. Really? I thought that kind of sexist pricing went out in the 70s. I definitely won't be booking there. read more

So I walked by this salon on my way down town and figured "with a name like that, this place can't be half bad." I went in and asked if they were accepting walk ins. I was then greeted by a very pretty girl named Carla, who took me right to her station and began asking what I wanted done. Now keep in mind I'm always apprehensive about getting my hair cut, but she was very knowledgeable, and her confidence put me at ease! Once she was done I was very very impressed with the result. Disappointed, also. Made appointment for hair cut and paid $80 for the cut plus a $10 tip. Cut was uneven. Called to ask for stylist to look at it and reshape. Stylist did not have time to do so until four days later and would only have about 15 minutes to work on it. But what upset me was that they made an excuse that this is what I wanted when they should have just said to come in and see if they could make it right. Went in for a Brazilian wax. Came out with sticky legs and buttocks. Lots of hair left out did not even bothered to remove them. Went home and had to remove lots of sticky wax and the other hair that was left behind. Brazilian waxing means no hair left at all, and that's not what happened with me. Left the place very disappointed. (The place had this weird bad smell when you walk into it) read more
