With the recent rains, water was leaking into my rear windshield, so I called a local body shop. They recommended OMEC Auto glass. He came out , removed my rear windshield, cleaned off the old seals and replaced it. It took more than 2 hours, but he Only asked for $80 bucks. This past Sunday, my car (2012 Toyota Prius - standard hatchback) was broken into through the rear driver's side quarter window. After calling around and requesting price quotes from businesses on Yelp, I learned how pricey replacing this little window could be ($269 to $369!). One person recommended I check local auto dismantlers for a used window. Thankfully, I found a replacement window at a Toyota parts dealer ($35 + tax) in Rancho Cordova. Since I would already be driving from Sacramento to Rancho Cordova, I figured I would find a place nearby to install it. I called Omec Auto Glass in the morning to schedule an appointment with John. I truly appreciate his willingness to fit me into his schedule the same day! He successfully installed the used the rear driver's side quarter window for me at a very affordable price ($40). It only took him 30 minutes to complete the window installation. He vacuumed broken glass from my car interior and cleaned the newly installed window. He recommended leaving the adhesive tape on the vehicle for 4 hours to allow for it to properly set. It was a hot day and the waiting area/lounge was pretty hot (no A/C on) and he brought me a fan and propped the door open to make it a little more comfortable. I honestly didn't mind the heat, but the average person may prefer air conditioning during such a hot day. Plus, I know John had off-site appointments that morning and I don't blame him for not leaving the A/C on and wasting energy when nobody was in his shop. Thank you for excellent service, Mr. John. Called John Friday afternoon and set up an appointment for Monday. I was quoted $215 for replacing a 2013 Nissan Altima windshield. John came to my work this morning as planned. He did a professional job in replacing the windshield and took just about an hour as promised. As an extra bonus, he only charged me $189 for the job because he said his glass supplier charged him less than they quoted. Wow! Wonderful, professional job! A REALLY GOOD GUY I called around to get the windshield on my Toyota truck replaced (a tree limb fell on it and cracked the glass). I called another installer first and he quoted me a price of $210 to replace the windshield. OMEC gave me a quote of $169 and, impressively, after installation the owner billed me only $150. Steve (I think that's his name) is a quiet, low key, professional. His shop is a small one-person operation tucked away as one of many businesses housed in a large industrial building. His waiting area is littered with memorabilia from sponsoring little league and golf events, with pictures of his family placed on his desk. This is a nice guy who does an excellent job (started on time, took as long as he told me it would) and charges a fair price for his work. I absolutely would use him again if I ever have another problem with a windshield. read more
