The brunch menu includes the usuals, Benedicts, omelettes, pancakes, and waffles, as well as house specials. I typically go for Benedicts because I've never mastered poaching eggs. And if I see crab cakes or lobster, I know immediately what to get. So, of course, the Crab Cake Benedict grabbed my attention. It came with country potatoes, grits, or tomatoes. Incidentally, the country potatoes were the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, the crab cake was just too breaded for my liking. I also went with a biscuit and some country gravy--thumbs up for both. The ricotta scramble on thick toast, accompanied by a cup of fresh fruit, and the avocado scramble both looked fantastic. Service was quick and friendly.

As I ate more into the center (these are not small patties), I found it to be slightly medium-medium well. I didn't eat the very center and didn't worry about it. Once I bit into the second one, though, I found that it wasn't cooked nearly enough so I just ate the edges since I had already ate most of the first one. That should have been the end of it. Instead, the owner came back and quizzed her on the capital of Washington State, as if knowing state trivia is a requirement for holding a valid ID. She's never taken a state test to live here, she just has a real license. When she couldn't answer, he refused her service and made a scene about it, loudly, in front of the whole bar. If he had doubts, the obvious move was to ask for a comparison ID or check it against another Washington license in our group. He had one right there. Instead he embarrassed a guest over a "test" that has nothing to do with ID verification, something his own industry provides actual training and guides for. We left as a group of 8 and took our business elsewhere. Reading other reviews here, this doesn't seem like an isolated incident of arbitrary, inconsistent service. Skip it.

There is an option to order it cold, but I was looking forward to a hot tuna melt. My husband ordered the box car - tanker size. Most sandwiches come in regular or tanker size. If you have a healthy appetite, the tanker is the perfect size. The box car comes with corned beef. I stole a bite, so good! He didn't opt for fries, so it came with chips. My mom got fish and chips. This is a good size portion! This meal comes with soup or salad, 3 pieces of fish, fries, and coleslaw. The coleslaw was on the watery, mayo side but everything else was great!
