A memorable and wonderful lunch! All the staff we interacted with were really kind and gave great suggestions on what to order. They have a good amount of seating inside and I really liked the interior design. Their pastry case is also so beautiful, truly a feast for the eyes! We ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, a caprese sandwich, a pistachio chocolate croissant, a coconut pastry (noux de coco), and 2 lattes (one iced, one hot). Everything was so good! I wish I could go back and try some more. The bread was the standout in the sandwich for me and the pastries were flaky and perfectly sweetened. It was also nice to see that they offered free samples of their bread at the payment counter. I've been to a few Canelle locations! This one is convenient because they have parking! almost always get the Caprese, which is consistently delicious, and their pastries are a win too! My go to is the almond croissant when it's warmed up. So good. This time I decided to switch it up and try the pistachio latte, and it just wasn't it for me. It was oddly so sweet and kind of overpowering. I've tried their coffee drinks before and I'll be honest... they just don't really hit. I'm familiar with Matt Cannelle bakeries (been to the Detroit location and have had their delicious sourdough bread at the Northville farmers market) and finally got the chance to visit during lunch time. All the tables were full but we go lucky and got a spot on the couch after seeing a couple leave. It's a nice, casual and clean looking atmosphere- I can't wait for the warmer months to be able to sit outside. Since we went in the afternoon, I decided to get the Salad with Chicken (in the fridge section in the Ready to Go/Eat box). I was pretty happy with this choice as it was filling and had ingredients that I normally don't just have at home so it made it feel worth it. My friend got the Caprese sandwich which honestly was super small imo (slider size). She enjoyed it but I think it was a bit overpriced but I realize that this bakery is pretty upscale. At any bakery, of course it's best to come early morning to get the freshest baked goods. I wanted to try some pastries but knew it was a bit too late in the day (friends have told me the sweet pastries they've tried were a bit dry). There are so many delicious and beautiful choices here including coffee and tea. It's a fun, beautiful atmosphere and the bread is really the best. The pastry items in the baskets are quite big as far as size, they look glossy and appetizing. My husband wanted some treats in the displays. Never seen so many raspberry items I have ever seen. We settled on a Raspberry tart and a raspberry lemon cake. $15.60 The raspberry and lemon cake was good. Nice tartness from the lemon and the raspberry combined. Came back since we were in the area. I opted for the cardamom roll and an almond croissant (treat day for me clearly!). I got them both warmed up and they were really yummy, especially the almond croissant. I really liked its interior texture. And for what it's worth, I learned that "cannelle" means cinnamon in French, and not just "canelé" spelled incorrectly. This is my bad! I would still opt for other treats that are not the canelé. I am still upset about the one I had last visit and am taking it upon myself to learn how to make them. read more

If you've ever searched high and low for the greatest almond croissant and felt like it didn't meet your expectations, you need to stop by one of the Cannelle locations and grab one asap. And you should have them warm it up. You just might die of happiness(diabetes). I had to take a family member to an activity out this way. I dropped off my family member and needed to hang out in Northville for an hour before pick up. I was surprised to hear they opened up a Cannelle out here but was happy to hear there was a new place in town to have a coffee and a pastry. I like that they have some good parking nearby. When we got to the cafe there was a really long, slow moving line, and not tons of seating. We did eventually get a seat, but I wonder if they could fit in two or three more small tables. They do have outdoor seating, but it was snowing and freezing. The people working here seemed nice. They did not have many pastries left in the cold cases and it was not late, it was early afternoon. I decided to get the baked goods instead. We tried the Viennoise au chocolat, the galette, and asked about a peanut butter cookie, which they gave us a chocolate cookie with peanuts on it. The Viennoise au chocolat was fair, could have been better with more filling and moister or flakier. I liked the galette with the crunchy sugar and caramely filling. The cookie was good, sort of tasted like a no-bake, but not peanut buttery enough, still good though. We also got a hot mocha. It was not bad. But I typically compare the coffee to Starbucks or Dunkin. If the chains are better that makes me sad, since I want the smaller places to have good coffee. This one was not as good as the chain cafes, but that would not stop me from coming back. The prices here are also a bit high. I know some might say quality of ingredients, but I know of bakeries that are family owned and local that have way cheaper prices. I say it is rent and not ingredients driving up the prices. Just went to Dearborn for French style cakes which were literally only $3 and $4 a slice and their croissants which were stuffed were only $2 a piece. Still, I will probably be back. We have been customers for years and years and like to hang out in Northville from time to time. read more

It's beautiful in here. Very brightly lit. Easy to get to with lots of convenient parking lot. The pastries look gorgeous. I will admit this place is expensive but I think you're paying for the ambience. Service was OK depending who you get some people are much friendlier than others. I feel like if you're paying close to $10 a pastry they should at least smile at you. This was before they asked me for a tip. I personally despise tipping counter serve people, but would when they at least smile and acknowledge your existence. Underwhelming. Coffee is average. Have tried drip, Americano, and latte. Plain (butter) croissants are closer to grocery store than French bakery. Epi baguette was just ok. Service is fine but the flow slows things down. The shop looks nice and has lots of natural light, but the layout and traffic flow is not very inviting if you want to sit and catch up with a friend. They have a wide variety of pastries, maybe the fancy ones are a better choice. But a plain croissant and Americano is the baseline and I think you can find better examples of both in Northville. read more

I was so excited for the much anticipated opening of Cannelle Northville! Let's just say, the line was out the door! Everyone was on the same page...wanted something sweet or savory to start the day! Just like the Detroit location, they offer the most amazing spread of decadent desserts, pastries and baked carb-deliciousness! Straight to the point now: We ordered a croissant, some Cannelle's (the litmus test) and a couple of pastries / eclairs 1) Cannelle- absolute fail. Truly terrible and at $4.86 a piece it's downright awful I chose to pay yes, but that's what gives one the legitimacy of an opinion. I wanted to love them but they were badly baked, texture was terrible and should have not been sold. 2) Croissant : Dry I mean dry I wonder if they even used ANY butter. 3) eclairs: I've had better almost anywhere else You know the quality is terrible and cheap when they dessert leaves a fatty coating on the roof of your mouth (you know it) Cheap ingredients. Flavors were nothing worth talking about So as harsh as this review may sound, honesty is a must especially when paying those prices. Why are there no descriptions of anything on the menu or website or proper labels in the store? How are you supposed to know what anything is and the line is always so long that you don't feel right stopping to ask and that's what has kept me out of this place and other locations. The flow of this place is flawed - you hav to order when you walk in , but the display is all after and once you're done looking, you have to go back (most likely in front of others who walked in after you) to place your order. The spread is nice, but the design/assembly doesn't encourage a great experience. Cannelle makes some of the best pastries in Metro Detroit. I typically go to their Keego location but have frequented the Northville location several times since there opening when meeting friends for breakfast. As the pastries are made at a central location bakery that feeds all their locations you get a consistency no matter which location your at which I find very appealing. The Northville location is definately very clean, bright, and quite modern with ample seating to enjoy your pastry or any of the other food they serve (Breakfast sandwiches, and Salads/fresh sandwiches for lunch made with their own fresh baked bread). Aside from the food they are also a Barista style coffee shop that makes excellent coffee drinks to include a top shelf Latte that is my personal favorite. They use superior beans and excellent extraction that gives you a nice full bodied coffee drink that is an excellent complement to their pastries. Nice! The key aspects about this business that I really like is their central location in downtown Northville allowing you to take a coffee break from shopping and end your morning walk with a superior cup of Joe. This place just opened recently at this location I believe, but I have no doubt that it's going to become a mainstay! Serving up fresh patisserie in a dazzling display Canelle's really leans into "you eat with your eyes first." I was honestly wondering if the actual taste would match up to how good they looked and I was very satisfied to find that it Did! I took my nieces and we got several savory and sweet pastries and cakes to try amongst ourselves. The service staff was polite and helpful during a very busy lunch hour in Northville. It wasn't even a weekend and the store was so packed that we weren't able to sit inside the store, we got it to go and ate in the car. Also even though it was so busy they did a very good job getting people their orders and getting them through the line. The shop is very cute and they had people coming out frequently to clean and make sure there were napkins/sweeteners for coffee/sweeping etc. Down to the nitty gritty, we got: Bacon & Gruyère Croissant Ham & Asiago Croissant Soft Leek Croissant Fresh Mozzarella, Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil Croissant Raspberry White Chocolate Macaron Salted Caramel Mille-Feuille MK Mango The Ham & Asiago was a great intro croissant, especially if you had a kiddo who wanted lunch, plain but wonderful. The Bacon and Gruyère had a lot of bacon in it which I think would be an excellent breakfast option. The Leek was a standout with incredible flavor and creaminess. We almost thought that the MTB was a tart because of the amount of cheese, it's definitely thicker than the other options. It almost reminded me of quiche. The flavor was smooth and the basil came through nicely. The savory pastries were very good but I will say we didn't know you could ask for them to be warmed up! Definitely suggest this as they were delicious at room temperature (we loved the Leek & the MTB the most) and I can only think of how much better they would have been warmed up. The Raspberry White Chocolate Macaron was enormous. It's listed as 3" on their website but it's also probably 3" or more tall. The raspberries were ripe and tart and the cream was not too sweet. The Salted Caramel Mille-Feuille was the dessert I think we all most wished we didn't have to share! It was so unexpected. The Mille-Feuille is baked like a gift box with no top, filled with salted caramel cream and a line of caramel and piped with some kind of delicious cream on top. Made you want to lick the spoon. The MK Mango was a pastry that was shaped like a mango, a cake, with mango flavored cream, mango chunks, and I think some sort of jelly? I don't know but this was my personal favorite. It tasted like they had taken the essence of mango flavor and infused it into the cake crumb itself and then wrapped it up in butter cream. If you are a fruit fan, I would most definitely recommend this. We also got chai and cafe au lait. The chai was very tasty, cardamom forward. Beautiful store with excellent desserts, but coffee pricing needs clarity This cafe has a lovely atmosphere and their desserts are absolutely delicious. However, I was surprised by the coffee pricing structure. The pistachio latte is listed at around $7, but this doesn't include espresso--that's an additional charge that brings the total to $10-$12. I'd appreciate more transparent pricing that shows the full cost upfront. One operational suggestion: a separate line for coffee orders would help reduce congestion at the entrance, especially when customers are waiting to order pastries. read more

Hello, Have eaten in this new location twice, as recently as 1 week ago.(March 2026) Had a Caprese sandwich which was a HUGE MISTAKE! Was told couldn't change bread because they don't make the sandwiches on site. By the way, no tomato on the sandwich, bread was dry. Offered to heat it up via the microwave! Also as you come into the cafe, you see all the breads and other offerings. Everything looked dry and not very inviting to buy. Still have to go to the back of the cafe to even see what type of sandwiches are available nothing up front not even a descriptive board, just told go to the back and order, including coffee. The seating inside is minimal, however there is seating outside depending on the weather. Was hoping there would be improvements from the first time we visited, which was a month after they opened this site in Northville. However, that has not happened at all. Also the personnel we're not friendly very similar to the our first visit. Heard they were opening new sites, think they need to fix this one first. However, been to the Ann Arbor Cannelle's on Washington Street, several times. Very nice and Great Customer Service. Large display of goodies and they make sandwiches on site. I've been here many times, and I drop $50-$75 every time, today was $50, but for some reason today the servers wouldn't prepare my order until after I paid. It wasn't busy, there was only 1 other patron, and she entered behind me, but didn't have to pay first for her order to be taken care of, and there were 3 servers behind the counter.
