I was referred here by my gp for my first ever full body check. I have an autoimmune skin disorder that was diagnosed by my gynecologist and was also told to follow up with a dermatologist for future care. When I made this appointment I specified this and asked if I'd be getting a full check including for this. Dr Racette breezed in like he was late for golf and did the most half a**ed peek under my gown. Fully putting off any future care for my skin issue back on my gynecologist. He was brusk with a diagnosis of rosacea on my face and made sure to add "that treatment isn't covered by insurance" thus deciding I wasn't a $ maker or so that's how it seemed. I don't feel any more assured that my skin is cancer free tbh. He truly didn't look me over. I'm not exaggerating. Skip him. It was like a novice peeking under tissue paper for a bug. Dehumanizing. Why have me fill out a lengthy bunch of paperwork with concerns if he doesn't deal with them? Before I even got to the desk to check out he was out the front door. Further emphasizing he was not present for my visit. Some doctors have a practice. This guy is still practicing at something but it's not bedside manner or a thoughtful or thorough exam. Lame duck. The doctors visit was smooth the dr was friendly and so was the assistant. But when you need a doctors note to get clearance to return to school that was the biggest Hassel. I spoke to one of the receptionist well gosh I asked for a doctors note she went right ahead got my email address and sent it to me within minutes but when i opened the email it didn't have the return date mind you she sent it to me thru EMAIL! I called back hey I received the email but it doesn't have a return the snotty woman on the other side started arguing with me saying how is that possible I never received an email how do you know I didn't am looking right at it. Am not stupid I gave her the email address that the note was sent through and she was like that's weird that couldn't have been us uum then who was it smart one the hackers. she said that couldn't have been because that breaks HIPPA violations well sweetie someone broke a violation I have proof. she made it such a Hassel like girl can you just fax the info to my sons school that's all I wanted a little note with a return date for my sons school. mind you the snotty lady hung up on me while am telling her I wanted to speak to supervisor. My primary care doctor referred me to this dump due to a cancer scare. 24 hours before my appointment I got a call from some uncivilized animal with zero ability to listen or empathize- she called to tell me my appointment was being cancelled. Why? Because she's showing I'm insured by a provider that I am in fact NOT insured with. She referenced January coverage with them... it's now MAY and I have different insurance which I have been using with other doctors just fine- including the provider who referred me. She was exceptionally rude and then had the audacity to hang up on me. So I called back and spoke to yet another animal. When I told her I don't have time to chase them (this is the middle of my work day) and that I'd be writing a review about my experience she told me that if I have time to write a review I have time to chase after them... wow. Well I made time for you, sweetheart, here you go. DO NOT GO HERE!! You deserve to be treated with respect, especially when dealing with such sensitive issues. They lost my appointment that was turned in online and treated me with complete disregard. The next day sent me a text asking me to reschedule my appointment that I missed. I've visited the Tempe location of Omni Dermatology multiple times and I've always had a great experience. This review is to call out and warn others about a specific nurse practioner at the Phoenix location, Erik Jason Martinez, who, in my opinion, shouldn't be allowed to work on anyone. I was visiting to have a couple tiny fatty cysts removed. I've been in for the same treatment multiple times. Erik Jason Martinez decided to use an electronic wand and liquid nitrogen to burn everything he could see on my face neck and ears. I stopped for two cysts, and he zapped and burned me all over. And what's most amazing is that he missed one of the two cysts I was there to have removed. The main problem is that he used the electronic wand to zap the upper corner of my ear. I told him that the small white spot was cartilage and that it had been there my entire life. "Oh, I can fix that.... zaaaaapppp... It's now 4 months later and whatever he did still hasn't healed. It hurts all the time and I need to see another dermatologist to see what, if anything, can be done to fix it. Then I will likely find a lawyer and sue Erik Jason Martinez to hopefully prevent him from taking liberties with other people's bodies and betraying their trust in his professionalism, experience, and expertise. read more

Driving to my appt I hit traffic which was going to make me 10 mins late when I called to let them know they informed me my appt had been canceled lol when I asked when because I received a confirmation email the day before the very rude girl said oh someone tried to call you at 1:00!! My first yelp review, only because I was treated so poorly by Dr. Racette. I went into for a common freezing treatment of planters warts. He spritzed them with the freezer for about one second, and insisted that I come back for 2 more treatments. In the past, Doctors have applied sufficient freezer to allow the warts to blister and sent home medicine. This never happened after all 3 treatments. He was very stingy, rushed, and had no time to spend with me. I felt like he was annoyed and defensive when I had questions and reservations. Success of the procedure aside, I felt as though he talked down to me because of my age (22) and had a haughty tone with me the entire 5 minutes I had with him. He's not personable, humble, or interested in helping. Just in collecting money and getting done with your appointment so he can move on with his much more important life. He is hasty, arrogant, and I have never been treated as such by a medical professional. Lots of better dermatologists in Arizona! read more

I was thoroughly unimpressed with the staff here. I came in to have something removed and have a rash looked at. Dr. Racette came in with a couple of medical students and an inexperienced nurse. He was curt, unfriendly, and did not make the situation comfortable. He quickly removed what needed to be removed, had the nurse bandage it, and failed to notice that she didn't cauterize the site as needed. Thus, I got up and began to bleed a decent amount, staining my boots and having to return to the exam room. It was fixed, but it didn't help my impression of the place. Dr. Racette was fairly pompous and clearly enjoying his title of "Top Doc". Don't let it fool you. I gave this business two stars because they did fix the problem. It was just poorly executed by the not-so-friendly staff. read more

I DO NOT recommend you go here. In April 2011 I started seeing small blisters on the bottom of my feet and hands. My feet were itchy and I started to develop painful cracks on the soles of my feet. I didn't have health insurance so I put up with the cracks and pain for a few months. The cracks worsened and I developed some sort of infection. I was starting to see many blisters and the cracks were more severe. A friend of mine recommended I see Dr. Racette so I made an appointment. After almost an hour wait, Dr. R. examined my feet for a few seconds and diagnosed pustular psoriosis. He filled out a lot of paperwork, prescribed a topical steroid and asked me to come back in for a follow up in a week. A week later, my feet were worse and had more cracks on them, making it difficult to walk. Dr. Racette had a student with him, stared at his paperwork and talked with his student. NOT ONCE did he make eye contact with me. He confirmed his initial diagnosis of pustular psoriosis to the student and proceeded to fill out more paperwork. He wrote me another prescription for the topical steroid and left the room. Over the next few weeks my feet got so bad I couldn't wear shoes and could hardly walk. My feet were swollen and turning purple. The purple was spreading to my ankles. There were even more blisters on my feet and some on my hands. I was miserable and in a great deal of pain. I made another appointment to see Dr. R. He told me about a study he was working on and if I got accepted to it, I could have humira shots for free. I was accepted and given two shots in my stomach. The next day I had hives all over my body. The cracks on my feet were so bad I couldn't put my feet on my bed to sleep. I had to sleep with a pillow under my ankles to elevate them. Dr. R recommended I double up on the humira, even though I told him I had hives all over. After two more shots and a few more weeks, I could not stand the pain any longer. I literally wanted to die! The infection was spreading from my feet and had moved up past my ankles. It looked like I had purple socks. I called Dr. R. in tears and he said there wasn't much he could do for me without insurance. I stopped the humira shots and called another doctor, also recommended by a friend. The other doctor was very nice, did not spend the entire time filling out paperwork, looked at me while he talked, listened to me with genuine concern, asked questions, had a wonderful "bedside manor" and immediately prescribed antibiotics and a topical steroid. The purple started to fade after two days and the cracks and itchiness lessened. After two doses of antibiotics the infection was finally gone. Dr. Racette never prescribed antibiotics. It took a year for the purple to fade. I still have psoriosis on my feet, but it's manageable and much less severe. I do NOT recommend Dr. Racette, but I will give you the name of the wonderful doctor if you ask. read more

I have struggled with acne for 9 years now. I have tried everything you can think of, many rounds of antibiotics, too many topicals to count, accutane, etc. I had sworn off dermatologists for a few months and then decided I would give a new one a chance. I came here to Tana Frumento. She was very rude when I tried to explain my acne struggles, saying I just need more antibiotics, which I explained to her I've been on many times with no results. She said to try it one more time, and I trusted her. She was very quick, made me feel rushed and like I couldn't explain myself. I felt like she was blaming me for my acne problems which I have been constantly attempting to treat (I take excellent care of my skin!). So she sent me away and I went on antibiotics and they did absolutely nothing, I was on them for nearly two months and decided enough was enough. I was going to stop putting my body through this. So I went back and she scoffed at me saying I needed to be on antibiotics for 3 MONTHS?! She had never said this in the initial appointment , and regardless that is very extreme, especially considering that I've told her the countless rounds of antibiotics I've already tried. I almost filled the prescription but I realized that this person does not have the proper knowledge/experience, or just didn't give me enough information, she was not on my side, she shamed me, and was going to make matters worse for it. I then found a dream esthetician, who I am seeing results with after a couple of weeks, and particular products to help with scarring. Her care and service she has provided is immeasurable, and something I really expected to find here at Omni. read more

Friendliest doctor I've ever met. I have tried a handful of dermatologists here in the Valley and Dr. Racette was a great find. He's younger than you would expect, but his bedside manners are great. He's friendly and makes you feel comfortable and appreciated as a client. Last but not least for the ladies I can easily say the Valley has found its "Mcdreamy" in him. This would not be a place I recommend. My son did have good luck with this office and treating his acne with accutane. He was treated young and the acne has come back. I made a follow up appointment with the office. The lady on the phone couldn't tell me when my son was last seen/treated because they changed computer systems and those records were in the doctors office. I assumed incorrectly that the information would be given to me at the appointment. My son was not seen by Dr. Racette this time and the older last that saw him was super rushed. Talked fast, didn't explain things and I left feeling like I had driven all the way to the office for nothing. Honestly this tattoo in itself has been one of the worst experiences of my life. When I went into Omni I was not expecting such amazing results but I was blown away with only one laser removal session. It was originally a cover up over a 5 year old tattoo but the work that Judy removed was less than a year old. So if anyone thinks that they can't remove their newer tattoo, think again! My husband has been going to Omni Dermotology to have a cyst removed since July. It is now the end of October. They're constantly giving him triamcinolone injections to supposedly shrink the cyst (even though it's tiny now) and telling him to come back in 2 weeks. We've literally spent hundreds of dollars (even after insurance) and the NP there simply won't remove the cyst, but instead insists that the cyst be smaller to remove. My husband will not be going back. They're really, truly just out for your money. We've spent $722 so far (out of pocket, after insurance) with no freaking end in sight. And they make you keep a card on file so it's just an open checkbook for them to charge whatever they'd like. Repeat visits = $$$$$$ = Bad business. read more

I will not be returning here. The Doctor wanted to do a biopsy and numb me with lidocaine, which does not work on me. Instead of accommodating me with another numbing agent to perform the biopsy, the doctor said that he's "never heard of" someone not being numbed by lidocaine, and that he has seen "thousands" of patients. Hold on here. If you google "lidocaine doesn't work on me", literally thousands of entries come up, so I can't be the only person in the world with this issue. This Doctor is young. I find it very improbable that he has seen "thousands" of patients so early in the game. His arrogance and condescending tone weren't really necessary- honestly! Who lies about numbing agents working?! I wasn't lying. I'd very much like to be numb for a biopsy, and I will be finding a (better) Doctor who believes me. My Dentist believed me, and has been using a different numbing agent on me for years. Good luck with this guy. If he's quick to discredit you about something as straightforward as lidocaine, who knows what you'll be bullied into having done. read more

I have been struggling with weird rashes and allergies recently that have come out of nowhere! I was referred by my usual doctor so thought I would be in great hands as my doctor is amazing. First thing is the very poor clarity with appointment time vs the time they want you there. I was told I could fill out new patient info through the portal , so I went to do that and it did not allow me to. I go into the office frustrated because I thought I could fill out the info on the app hence why I left later than I would have. I was 5-8 mins late at that point and called and explained the situation , they said they would have to reschedule and at that point I was not happy. Luckily there was a cancellation 15 mins later but they still should have taken me in the first place due to incorrect info given to me that caused my late arrival. I haven't even gotten to the worst part yet. I get into the office , and the assistant comes in asking me why I'm visiting. I explained about my psoriasis on my head and how it has never ever spread but I'm experiencing rashes and itchiness on my arm, weird nail problems , as well as a raised mole thing on my side that has recently grown a bit. The doctor then comes in and only looked at my head which I had already told her was never an issue for me and I can go without treatment for that. She does not look at any of the other issues I am having and doesn't ask me what products I'm using or medication I take (which most dermatologists I've been to ,they normally start there). & also had no explanation of what those rashes or reactions could be - or what could be causing them . She then prescribed me three different creams with very little explanation on how /when to use them. I later did some research to find out most of those creams cause a lot of side effects and are normally the last resort after some less heavy duty topicals/treatments. Just avoid coming here if you can, they are not thorough , and if you are looking for answers you will just leave very unsatisfied. read more

Came in for first appt to see Andre/PA for a growth on my forehead. He looked at it and asked if I would like to have it removed. I told him I needed additional information, and he told me what it was. Benign and just needed to be frozen off. Once again I asked for additional information and decided to do the procedure. And afterwards I had to ask for him to look for anything else I should be watching, which he should've done on his own. And as a first-time patient and I expect to be given information about anything I am having looked at, as well as be checked over for anything I should be watching that's not asking too much read more

This was my first time at this office. The receptionists were quick in returning my messages and the visit itself was relatively short--great if you need to get to work. Additionaly, the woman who took my initial information in the patient room was very friendly and bubbly. Unfortunately those are the only positive reviews I can provide. I chose to see a dermatologist over a primary physician because of skin conditions that run in my family. However, now I realize I should have gone to see a primary care doctor. The doctor did not ask about family history or any additional questions. He simply looked very briefly at the spot of concern and provided topical samples. While he obviously has more knowledge than myself, and the spot probably is nothing to worry about, I left feeling as if I wasted his time. His attitude resembled one that did not want to there. I contemplated asking about a couple moles, but he seemed to be in such a hurry to get out of there that I chose against asking any questions. DO NOT SEE THIS JERK. I had some long time skin issues, and new acne caused by testosterone. He really did not do an exam! He didn't look at my skin. He didn't look for moles or any skin issues. You are supposed to map out the body so next year you can make sure nothing is new or moles have not changed. This is how you catch CANCER. All he did was mumble about my two options. But he never would actually give any ADVISE on it He gave me a long speech about Acutane. Only when I pressed him did he say he didn't suggest it for me. This guy has the personality of a SLUG. It took me longer to fill out my paper work than his "exam" did! When I realized he was leaving I said WAIT! I have a few more issues. He gave me the same look my MOM used to give me when I was bad. He quickly whipped out his gun and burned two warts for about 5 seconds, burned a little thing on my head and was headed out the door before I could ask anymore questions. I have ER doctors in less of a rush than he was. There was only one other person in the whole place, no idea where he needed to go so quickly, maybe to look in a mirror and admire himself?!? You could tell I was not worth a his time. My guess the only thing he really likes doing is giving women Botox or anti ageing cream. I am still amazed that this guy is a Top Doc. First let me say that this is my first review. I am not someone who thrives on writing negative reviews. My primary care doctor, two doors down, recommended the Omni Dermatology center on Indian School. I first stopped in just to get some sun block. There were probably 8-10 people waiting just to check in to the small office. The line, not a joke, was out the door. I just turned and walked out. Because my doctor had recommended them, I still did make an appointment to get a standard skin check. After the staff checked me in and walked me to room (neither of whom was friendly, by the way), I was left for 45 minutes in a paper gown on the table and no one ever came to check on me or give me any kind of update. I know there was an issue with another patient so I give them the benefit of the doubt but come on, someone should have at least stopped by to give me an estimate, a magazine, let me put my clothes on while I waited in the freezing air conditioning. After 45 minutes of sitting and no doctor in sight, I had to leave to get back to work. read more

They dont call your insurance to fix a perscription, they dont call you back when you leave a voicemail because nobody answers and the doctors dont even really give you proper care. My first visit was very quick, doctor got the sample of my skin and I had an appointment for the next week to remove the stitches and learn about my diagnosis, at least, that was what doctor told me. When I came back following week, I asked desk assistant, if I need to pay for my visit. She replied that I needn't because it is a continuation of my previous visit. I didn't get a call with my diagnosis before this visit, so asked the nurse about my diagnosis and what doctor thought about my condition. Doctor came in and told me that I have a rare incurable disease. His tone rather calm and unsympathetic, as if all I got was a flu. I was shocked by my diagnosis and doctor's unprofessional attitude, I expected a little more compassion. In one month after last visit, I received a bill. After several calls and their promises to call me back next day which they never did, I called the billing. Very rude lady explained to me that the reason why they changed their mind and decided to bill me is because I had a "discussion with the doctor". I couldn't believe that being curious about my diagnosis after one week wait can cost that much, given they didn't call me with my diagnosis. I didn't receive any apologies for their inconsistency, just a threat: "Next time, if you discuss something with a doctor, you'll be charged for that." No, no next time for Omni. That's a shame that Dr. Racette turned out to be such a heartless scam artist. read more

I went to Omni last summer for a full body scan as I spend a lot of time in the sun. The doctor only had me remove my shirt and did the exam while I stood! He was done in about 2 minutes and said nothing looked abnormal. This year I went to Affiliated Dermatology in N Scottsdale and the exam was done on a well lite table and every part of my body including between my toes was examined. I had biopsy's done on 6 moles and 3 of them have come back as pre melanoma and are being surgically removed. The bottom line is that had I returned to Omni for another 2 minute scan, I would most likely be dead from skin cancer over the next year! Stay away, they are the absolute worst!! read more
