Stopped in late Friday afternoon anticipating there may be a smaller selection. We got a piece of lemon cake, mocha cake and a piece of baklava. The baklava was a generous piece and amazing, some of the best I've had other than baklava in Greece. The cakes were good, but a little bland, and small expensive portions for $6 each. The mocha cake had a lot of whipped cream icing, good cake texture, but no coffee flavor at all. The lemon cake didn't necessarily taste lemony, more citrus essence. We will definitely go back to try the breads and their coffee drinks. read more

This Greek Bakery has good food. I had Spanakopita and is was excellent. They had some absolutely beautiful looking pastries as well but I wasn't in the mood. However, this is more of a pastry shop than a bakery. They make a sweet bread on Saturdays but that is the only time they make bread. They make Spanakopita and Trykopita daily but don't have other Greek foods. It is a coffee shop and pastry shop in one. It is quite small but the service was as excellent as the food. read more

I used to come here often when I lived closer. I always would get the chocolate mousse dessert or baklava. I returned recently to get the chocolate mousse and was a little disappointed. Not only did the dessert get noticeably smaller, and the price was higher, but there was no cherry on top! It's the little things that make or break an experience. I want to continue supporting this great bakery but I struggle with paying more for less. Next time I'll get something different and hope for a good experience. read more

I've passed this little bakery a bunch of times, and finally got to try it. I love Greek food, so I had to see what they were all about. I got dessert (chocolate mousse) and Spanakopita (one of my favorites). I will say that I was a bit underwhelmed by each of these items. The mouse was not as rich or flavorful as I was expecting, and there was some flavor in the spanakopita that was overpowering and unfamiliar. I would like to try it again because they had so many options. I am just hoping that their other pastries are more punched up on the flavor. read more

For most of my adulthood I lived on Capital Hill and/or in Capitol Heights. Omonoia Bakery was far and away my favorite bakery. But more than 20 years ago I moved north to Longmont, and then age and infirmity have resulted in my socially isolating since the start of the pandemic. As a result, there have been few opportunities over the past 20 years to visit Omonoia. This past week, however, I was compelled to go to Denver to take care of some business and I took advantage of the opportunity to visit Omonoia. I purchased treats for three friends, as well as for myself. For my 93-year-old friend, I purchased three pieces of strawberry shortcake, a favorite of hers. I bought a single piece of strawberry shortcake for myself, together with two pieces each of spanakopita and of galaktoboureko. Both the spanakopita and the galaktoboureko were divine, just as I remembered. (And the service was exceptional.) But the strawberry shortcake was a huge disappointment. The bottom half of the cake slice was soggy to the point of being mush. I haven't had the courage to call my 93-year-old friend; I assume her experience was the same. I wrote a very different review of Omonoia in early 2020. Something has changed. This was the first and only bad experience I've had with Omonoia over decades. Perhaps this experience was a one-off. I do hope the owner will take this feedback to heart and make whatever changes are necessary to ensure the quality of all of Omonoia's baked goods. read more

I got a honey cake and a slice of lemon cake and they were both delicious! The honey cake was fragrant and tasted like there was a hint of orange blossom in it. The lemon cake was just the right amount of sweet. 5 stars for the food, I'll definitely be back. The only feedback I'd give is to put more descriptive labels on the pastries with Greek names to say what's in it. I started asking the woman at the cashier what some of them were but she seemingly started to get a little annoyed with all my questions lol. read more

Small but cozy bakery selling homemade Greek baked goods on Colfax. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to warm up and have a snack before heading to a museum and found this place. All of the available baked goods are on display and we were quickly helped. We ordered the traditional baklava and a honey cookie. The baklava was crispy and sweet, but not too sweet. I was impressed with the variety in offerings and Greek specialties. I ordered 6 different pastries, including cake slices, cannoli, cream puff, and the wedding cookie. Unfortunately, when I picked it up, they didn't mention the fact that they were out of most of the items I selected. It wasn't until I went home and opened the box that I noticed only a couple of items were missing. I called the store to ask about it and they said they were all out and the owner wasn't in the store that day. I asked for a refund on the items I didn't get and the worker said she didn't know how to do that and to try calling back a different day. I was obviously disappointed and let it go but I wish they had called me before picking it up and asked me if I wanted any substitutions instead of waiting until after the fact. The cannoli I got was a lot smaller than I expected considering the $5+ price. The Greek Wedding cookie was very dry and seemed like it was sitting out for a while. A little piece of heaven on Colfax. I'm not sure how long this bakery has been there, it feels right at home. The ladies running the shop are wonderful. The pastries, cookies and desserts look beyond amazing and brighten up my day! I love looking at the dessert display at all the delicately created goodies. However, the lemon cake is my kryptonite. Went here with N, on Friday September 14th 2012, after a not so stellar trip to one bakery close-by this establishment. When we arrived at OGB, My Oh My... the goodies of pastries, sweets, cookies GALORE made my heart skip abit.. for this case its more than my tummy goes rumbling, and Salivate aka Drooling To The Max. Which to choose, which to choose, so many goodies to choose.. But these were what I opt for that early morning : * 6 Cookies shaped into "shells" sandwiched with Jam, one end dipped in chocolate and dusted with powedered sugar. * 1 Slice of Strawberry Cake * 1 Slice of Lime Cake * 2 Spanakopita (Spinach Pastry) * 1 Baklava All my loot cost $23.53. Went here based on all the good reviews. Ordered two Cannolis freshly filled upon purchase. Got home to eat them and they had a strange chemical taste and the shells were stale too. For $6 per cannoli that was extremely disappointing. Maybe other desserts here are better but the cannolis were bad!!! read more

Baklava: Flakey, chewy, and goody in all the right places. Not bitter from the walnuts. Lemon cake: Light and rich, but not too tart or sour. Mocha cake: Not my favorite, but my husband had no problem eating it all... and he doesn't even like coffee. They also have Greek coffee, espresso, and bottled beverages. I'm sorry Yelp. I've let you down for so many years. I've been coming to this bakery since I was a weeee little girl and only now did it occur to me that I must review this bakery. For the record, nothing that I write about this bakery will fully convey just how amazing this little bakery is. You will need to try it for yourself. All the cookies are amazing. I love every single one of them. The chocolate dip fruit filled cookies are always a delight. I usually also get one of the powdered sugar cookies. The macaroons are perfection. Almond cookies are consistently tasty. There is a little lemon cakey/cookie thing that I only recently discovered and this may be my favorite. I'm more of a cookie monster so I don't have much experience with some of the more gourmet desserts that they also serve. I"m sure they are amazing though. The baklava is hands down, unequivocally the best I've ever eaten. End of story nothing more to say. They give you an enormous piece for $3. The only thing left is for you to try it yourself. My parents go bizerk for the egg custard. Seriously bizerk. I'm not an egg custard person myself, but I do have to admit, it's good egg custard. The prices are all very reasonable. The other day we walked in and got desert for 7 people for $20. Actually it was for 3 of us, but it could have fed 7. We just love it that much. read more
