I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness the employees showed towards the party goers and parent volunteers. They took care of everything. Huge thanks to Manager Mike and his crew! On the Dunes hosted my birthday celebration this past weekend and all 20+ of us had a great time. The food and drinks were great. Special shout-outs to Beth, who was able to ensure everybody didn't go hungry or thirsty and Ben, who did an amazing job corralling all the people and making sure we had a fun and safe time while throwing axes and footballs. Everybody was great but these two really went above and beyond...smiling the entire time. I would definitely recommend this place for large events or just a fun night out with friends. read more

It's a fun bar for activities, but the food is just above what I'd consider "dive bar" food. We did golf and it was okay for the price. I think it was $60 for an hour. There were a ton of golfing spots, but I'd still call well ahead to get the time you want. Fowling also looked fun, but we didn't do that. The draft beers were tall and cold (I did get one draft beer glass that had just come out of the dishwasher so it warmed up my beer considerably). There is a full bar so you can get cocktails, wine, and beer. They provided great service when there were 2 flies in my wife's drink (even though she drank more than half). As far as food, you don't get a waitress. You have to order all your food (even if you have a big table) up at the bar. Then you point to your table and then have to be on the lookout for what could be your food. So be ready to take notes of everyone's order. I had to guess a couple of items since I didn't know there were options, like swapping sides. If there was a waitress then it would have helped... Moving onto food. We got the apps of chicken wings and they were okay. Good taste, but not super crispy. The veggie and humus was probably the best hummus we all had. I got the chicken fingers and it came with a lot of food. They were just okay. The salads were just okay and my wife thought the cheese tasted rubbery and the produce tasted unwashed. First off, going to this place isnt really for the food. They have lots of games, volleyball and other activities that bring prople there. But, to my suprise, the food was actually pretty good. I got the fish and chips (didnt come with slaw) and a small side salad. Everything tated pretty good. The other people i was with enjoyed their meals also. The only negitive is dont expect good service. They arent used to people going there for the food, mostly just to drink and play games and an occasional something to eat so if they serve you some food, and bring you silverware about 10 minutes later, just remember you there for the games. read more

We had a work event here. We did ax throwing, fowling, and foot pool. Everyone had a great time doing the activities. We also had pizzas and salad. The pizza is very tasty--love the cheese. BLT pizza was spot on. The general manager and his staff were beyond amazing. They were well organized with the buffet, kept our salad full, pizzas warm, and they always had pitchers of water, tea, and pop full. Great place to host a work party. Lots of room to sit down and enjoy each other's company, as well as to do fun activities. Next time I want to try the golf simulators. read more

I was already fearful of this place seeing that they only have a 2 star here on Yelp. Gulp. My department settled on a team outing this week here, team building of sorts. We came to eat some apps, "football bowling, do some axe throwing too. We had reservations for our department from 2-4pm. It kind of looks like an office building. Then again I guess it doesn't matter what the exterior looks like. Had to sign a waiver for the X throwing, since incidents can occur. Trainer is telling us to release the axe about eye level, wooden or black handles are heavier than the yellow handles. Jeff is training for football bowling. Tom is training for the axe throwing. He's a good coach and cheerleader too. I ordered the blackened honey glazed salmon on the Michigan salad with no blue cheese and balsamic dressing instead. The Michigan salad is made with iceberg lettuce, blech. The first salad came with blue cheese atop it, gave it to another colleague. The salad is sub-bar, would be better with mixed greens, the dressing is definitely not balsamic, it tastes super sweet and syrupy, like the raspberry vinaigrette. The blackened salmon is good at least. We ordered cheese bread, nachos and hummus for some shareables. The nachos and hummus weren't too bad. One of my colleagues got the BBQ chicken wrap and liked it well, came with the sweet potato fries. Our waitress, never got her name and our football bowling and axe throwing trainers, Tom and Jeff were all great to our department team. The blackened salmon is really good. They should put that on the menu. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing is a little too sweet, too sweet. The service here was definitely a four. The food was a three for me. read more

We met here for lunch expecting a sports bar. It was listed as "Griffen sports Bar." I was confused when I pulled up and it was a "volleyball and ax throwing" place. We went inside and this enormous place was completely empty. But looked super fun! They had ax throwing, golf, baseball, fowling, and outdoor beach volleyball. There is a big bar area that serves food as well. We didn't end up staying here though. We wanted to sit at a bar and watch the game. This wasn't the atmosphere we were looking for. I'm sure we will be back because a lot of what was offered looked like it would be fun. Check this place out if you're interested in any of this. read more

We had our son's grad lunch here. 30 adults and 10 "kids" Pizza, salad, open bar, brought a cake in and had 2 hours of axe throwing. We had our own section, Buffett was set up nicely and the bar was right behind our tables. Great food, pizza comes in 8 slices, but the slices are huge! We ordered 15 pizzas, combo of cheese, pepperoni and a deluxe (meat and veggies) also had Caesar salads and Garden salads, they were huge! Adam was our contact in scheduling, he was prompt, courteous and very helpful without being pushy at all. Mike was the e manager on duty and worked with us the day of. He was friendly, outgoing and helpful. Just a positive, happy person all day long. The axe throwing coach, Justin, was informative, friendly and great to work with. Encouraging, positive, funny.. After our event, we felt we found a diamond in the rough. This place was awesome, food was fantastic and some was the staff. We will definitely be back! read more

Their Fowling & Axe Throwing is fun, but it stops there. It does not seem like they read or take into consideration the feedback from these reviews because everything we experienced were the same issues as the other reviews from months/years ago. This is the third time I've been here. The first time, I only did axe throwing. The second and third time, we ate, got drinks, and did Fowling. Both times, the service was extremely slow - to the point that they hardly acknowledge you. We had a table and still had to go stand at the bar for at least 10 minutes while we waited for someone to get drink orders. By time our food came out, half of it didn't come because it was made incorrectly (which honestly is a completely understandable mistake, but they actually said "oops yours was put in wrong, it wasn't my fault and it is going to take a really long time to remake" from multiple different staff members) By time it comes to pay, there was a huge wait for that, too. They also included gratuity (which they don't tell you, you just have to notice on the receipt), which is kind of frustrating because of the poor service. I still would have tipped either way, but tipping should be based on service OR they should inform you in advance that tipping is included on the bill. With how their systems work, they also overcharge and double charge if you're in a group with separate tabs. MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR AN ITEMIZED RECEIPT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT. There was $20+ on our tab that we couldn't figure out. There is also a lack of accepting responsibility for mistakes. When we got there, there was 2 other groups in the whole place and it got busy after 3 hours of being there, so I really don't think that is a factor into why their service is so poor. Our teams come here and play volleyball leagues every year! This place is your one and only stop to play volleyball! The staff and volleyball bartenders (Especially Danny!) make this place great! I would complain about the prices of courts is a little bit high per hour, but other than that this place is the best place to go for just straight up beers and courts! These courts are FILLED UP to the BRIM every season! I have changed teams, sat in for missing people, and even just played for a team for a whole season while their player was sick. Staff is 10/10 Food is 9/10 Prices are 8/10, but this area seems expensive around here as well. Will be back the rest of the season and then the next ones as well! Keep being awesome OTD! read more

Could have been a lot better! The axe throwing was awesome, however when you want to cash out your drink s at the main front bar..ha..good luck! We stood at the bar for 10 minutes and not one of the 3 people working behind the bar looked up at us. They were not even that busy! I have never experienced this ANYWHERE else! Come on!!! We have been playing volleyball here for years, and know the staff very well. Last Tuesday, our personal $80 volleyball got hit up on the flat roof. The manager in charge refused to go up there and get it because it was too late at night and dark, and told us to come back next week to get it. We show up tonight and nobody at the bar knows where it is and it "wasn't on the roof". The same manager last week told us tonight that the ball is too light and probably rolled into the parking lot/woods. When we confronted him, he sat there on his phone and couldn't look us in the eye or explain the situation. He told us that "we aren't the only ones at the bar and he has other parties to take care of" and walked off. On the Dunes needs to take responsibility of their team members and fix the situation. They literally beg us each year to come and play each season and make us pay all this money, and won't take time as a staff to get a ball from the roof when asked. This place was bullshit we accidentally broke a tiny piece of glass and the owner went off on us saying we did it on purpose. Then proceeded to insult us saying we're dumb and "white trash" even though we're not white. Then the owner started insulting us in Chaldean thinking we did not understand what he was saying, but we did and he called us "stupid bitches". Overall, this place was terrible it had over salted food covered in grease, and a terrible owner who is rude, disrespectful, and racist. read more

There's a lot to do activity wise. There's stuff like beach volleyball, putt-putt, fowling, etc. The food is really good, when they don't run out of every menu item. Every time we come here, they run out of what I want to order and I'll have to get something else. The drinks were awful. I ordered a vodka cranberry. I didn't taste the vodka at all and even the cranberry juice tasted like it was all water. My little sister ordered a milkshake and it was in a tiny 8 ounce cup for $4.99. What a clown show this place is.... We assumed it wasn't going to be great because every other simulator in south east Michigan was booked, either way we came, we saw, we played and payed and we'll never go back. I was playing simulator golf in the early 90's that was better than this technology wise. Employees that have no clue on how to set things up and then they try to keep our "extra" $20 the guy put in his pocket after we timed out and the game ended 3 holes early? At first we just said it's like playing a dog track and we'll have some fun. 3 hours later, dealing with more staff and (Brandon) the "manager" who hides in the back when customers have questions, we're all done. Kind of a shame, I can only only assume the place is going out of business and it's a money grab by all the employees.. Go to x-golf or Players for an actual golfing experience. Quite possibly the worst combination of food and service I've ever had. Took what seemed to take almost an hour for our food to come, while others who arrived after us were served before us. My meal came with two sides, only one was brought out. Chicken I ordered was also supposed to have a cream sauce, but of course didn't. I was there last Wed. Volleyball night watching my kids. I ordered some two rounds of two draft beers. I went to cash out and the bill was over $40.00, I questioned why so high. Bartender said tall beers were $9.00. When I ordered they said they were small beers. I showed them the cups. In the end they corrected the order I believe because the manager was right there. If you go watch the bar tenders because it's hard to keep track of beer sales from a keg. Possible they charge for high beers and punch in small beers then pocket the difference. Today our 5 year old decided she wanted to hit some balls, so I quickly googled "indoor golf". We decided to try On The Dunes based on the pictures and a great hostess when I called to inquire about children's clubs. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find a really amazing golf set up. Our daughter was given plenty of choices of clubs and we were set up on a screen. Beer and food for me was good and our server Spencer was on top of checking in on us, cleaning up, and quickly closed out my tab when requested. Ask for him if you come here! Golf knowledge and service was amazing with Doug. He showed us how to use the screen and touch system, even showed us some kids games. I really enjoyed my time here for my friends birthday dinner. This bar/grille is really cool and unlike any I've seen before. They have golf simulators, a little put put area, and they have an outside beach like volleyball area. They also have some pin pong tables that I did not do to well at. Our waitress was very nice, and our food was delicious. I had the boneless chicken wings with a buffalo spicy sauce I think, was soo good. Also my salad was great, super tasty. I ordered without the bacon, it was tossed and she gave us extra dressing on the side. The only thing I didn't care for was the loud live band outside, I don't care for loud music. Go somewhere else! This place has so many activities and such a high potential but there service is so awful that I would never recommend anyone to every come here. We called ahead with a group of about 10 people and you would think they would have two people serving us, wrong they had one. The waitress was so slow I left and went to another bar to get a beer and came back to finish fowling. Finally she came back around and ask her about the drink specials and she had no knowledge of anything. On top of her being slow and not knowing anything, you could see all of the staff sitting on their phones in the kitchen which was open for everyone to see. This place is way more than a bar. I came with a group of three other people for their golf simulator. They ran a special for a holiday and we ended up paying less than $25 per person for 3 1/2 hours. The simulator itself was fairly accurate. There were a few times where the sensors didn't pick up a shot. The putting was a bit tricky, but it got easier the longer we played. I was surprised that nobody asked to show us how to use the software. Although, it wasn't super necessary. We figured it out on our own fairly quickly. But just thought it was odd nobody offered to show us how it works. We didn't eat anything besides some chips with salsa/queso/guac. I did not eat any, but those that did said the guac was terrible. Drinks were fairly cheap especially for the quantity. After the golf simulator we walked over to the fowling lanes which were empty and decided to play. It was $10 per person with no time limit. Again, pretty good deal. I would definitely come back for the golf simulator, and maybe the other games. I saw an ice rink outside and some batting cages too. So lots of stuff to do here.
