DO NOT!! I was so excited to follow this food truck and set an alarm on my phone. Ordered a "4 piece fish and chips" Paid extra for an additional piece of fish. The breaded fish that I was given were smaller than my fingers. See my pics to show the breaded fish strips are smaller than a pen. Some of the pics show the fish strips next to French fries. And that fish is breaded!!! I don't complain unless it's this bad. It's rare that I go out of my way to leave a bad review. I was soooo upset. I showed the staff the pathetic small pieces of breaded fish that were the size of my pinky finger and was met with "WHAT YOU WANT MORE FOOD" "Maybe the fish was broken apart" I asked for a refund. They wouldn't give me a refund. They gave me another box of fried breaded fish that were a much larger size than what I was initially given. Just look at the pics and do not waste your time with this truck.

    Cod and chips

The fish was super fresh and cooked to order, so it was hot and the fries were perfectly non-greasy and crispy!

Great concept for a Food truck I love me some Fish and Chips after spending many years in Scotland eating real Fish and Chips. The prices seems very reasonable considering you are eating from a food truck. You get three good size pieces with you order, small chips ( double fried french fries), ketchup, malt vinegar, also tartar sauce and a couple of other dips. They have clam chowder soup and type types of drinks beside water. Bottled water is $2.00 very reasonable. Soda's are $3.00 each. Spent around 17 dollars for fish and chips. Service was very good when placing your order the gentlemen tells you that it will take 5-7 minutes which is reasonable for a food truck. Looked like three people working inside the truck Had a good size line when I pulled up to order. You eat in your vehicle or on the tail gate of your truck This food truck was in the Lowes Parking Lot in Temple, Texas. I had some great COD (4 pieces got an extra one) they cooked it perfectly the best I have had in a long time. Not impressed with the fries, was hoping for chip cut potatoes like you get overseas.

I've had On the Hook a few times over the years when their food trick is nearby. It's a pretty good option if you're craving fish and chips because not a lot of places specialize in them. They are more American style with long and skinner fried fish that has a thick batter. That's my main downside is that the fish are dredged with batter and a lot of your bite is breading and not fish. The fries are crispy and good. Tartar sauce tastes fresh as well. Everything is fried fresh and comes out piping hot which is great.

Can't wait for some awesome fish and chips.

East Ft. Worth location. We got there right when the truck was winding up their time at the Eastchase stop. There was no line so service was super quick. The fish and chips were what I expected and prepared as expected. The three pieces are an ample amount to satisfy my craving for fish and chips. Totally yummy. I love their sweet chili sauce.

I've been frequenting On The Hook for the last couple of years when they are in Plano or near Little Elm. This used to be the ultimate go-to for delicious fish and chips, but the portion of fries has significantly decreased while the prices continue to climb. I'm not sure if certain trucks are being frugal or if this is the new norm, but I don't feel like I get $19 worth of food anymore, and it's been like this for a while now. I haven't found a place with better fish (Alaskan cod) and chips yet, so I keep coming back. It just doesn't feel worth it anymore.

This what I got for $14 Q til is for size comparison

You get 3 stars cause the food was good. But for $14 all u get is three little pieces of meat SIDES ARE NOT INCLUDED THE French fries are extra if you want them. I work hard for my money this is to expensive for my blood. I'll be going to Long John Silver's from now on.

Greasy tasteless fish. Even the tartar sauce didn't help because it wasn't very good either.

I also had their frozen Irish coffee "Irish Goodbye". Very good! It's dessert in a glass that you can actually taste the alcohol even with the Ice Cream! Yum!! We sat at the bar and Abby was our bartender. Very friendly and attentive. If I were an Austin local I would come to sit at her bar. Really cool Irish vibe with a Jameson chandelier. Hand waving and nearly jumping out of my seat was not enough to get their attention. Finally, I ordered a burger and a beer. The burger was at least warm with an entirely tasteless bun, tomato, and onion. The fries were remarkably weak such that I questioned whether these calories were even worth it. Had to flag down staff for silverware, condiments, and finally the check. Gets one star for ambience and one for the staff being friendly when I finally got their attention.

They all qualified for the happy hour except for the lobster pasta. Everything tasted amazing. I enjoyed the crab fingers the most because it was flavorful and left me wanting more. The oysters were so good as were the fried shrimp. The lobster pasta was also a highlight of my meal because it had chunks of lobster meat. The restaurant was surprisingly large. It doesn't look much from the outside but when you walk in, you immediately see how spacious the dining space is. There are large couches and tables. Staff is friendly and service is quick. I added an egg, and it made for a healthy, delicious, and satisfying lunch. My husband, however, ordered the gumbo, and that dish was unfortunately disappointing. It was watery, very salty, and came with barely any rice, so we ended up with a lot of salty stew left over. There also wasn't much crab or shrimp, and the seafood we did find was tough and overcooked. Based on other reviews, I can see why Mongers may still be worth another visit if you stick strictly to their seafood-focused dishes. But based on this experience, it felt a little too much like a gamble, so I'm not sure I'd personally rush back.
