The 'Connecticut' style lobster roll. Yum!!!
    Michael B.

TLDR: Pricey, but worth every bite! Every Saturday at the Wolf Ranch Farmer's Market there's a food truck called Garbo's. Finally tried the lobster roll there, and it's excellent! This version is called 'Connecticut Style'. Extra points for the New England style stand-up bun, toasted with a little butter. Actually, make that a *lot* of butter! Delish and will return for seconds! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Excellent food and friendly staff- went the the food truck at an event at Pease Park. Ordered the Connecticut Lobster roll with a salad and drink ($22)- the lobster had large warm pieces mixed with melted butter inside a toasted buttered roll- satisfied the east coast lobster roll craving!

Fantastic! Can't believe I'm just now getting around to checking this place out. Living in Texas it's hard to find good seafood. This place has a lot of the classics that you'd find while living in the coast. Oysters, clam chowder, fish & chips, etc. Aside from the food, the decor was pretty cool. Definitely has a coastal vibe. I ordered the lobster roll, which was incredible. Will be back to try the other goodies.

Hit up Barton Creek farmer's market one fine Texas weekend morning - only to fined this fine lobster truck parked at the end. Initially I tried to avoid the lure (I mean it's the morning right - that's breakfast taco time and they do have Taco Deli tacos there), but the thought of oozy buttery lobster bits beckoned with the siren's call of the sea. Alas - I was drawn to the humming truck to order one Connecticut Style lobster roll (that's butter poached Maine lobster with house seasoning, lemon juice, scallions and a New England top-split (more buttered) bun). It's slightly pricey at $18 - but if you add another one (which I did) - the second one is only $15. (Oops - yeah pricey and I just spent $33). I opted for even more butter - but you could always go for the Maine style for the second one (chilled Maine lobster, mayo, celery, lemon zest with house seasoning, lemon juice and scallions on the same buttery New England split top bun). If I had a complaint here is that the sandwiches always seem so small (but they make up for it in sheer decadent richness). Sandwiches come with potato chips, side salad or jalapeño slaw. And if you aren't into lobster (say what???? that better be a shellfish allergy) - you can opt for a burger, salad or spicy shrimp roll (but not if you have a shellfish allergy here either). Of the lobster trucks in town - Garbo's is hands down my favorite.

We had a great visit here with the family. Tried a little of everything! It was a little wait but worth it and the service was wonderful. They even had little goldfish for the kids. Their Mac and cheese was ok a little bland. The fries were great. I enjoyed my lobster grilled cheese it was very rich though so took half home. The spicy shrimp fries were phenomenal and a meal in itself. Salad was fresh. The tomatoes tasted like they were home grown. Oysters were fresh and tasty. The caviar was great but would not recommend for the price tag. Mixed Drinks were $12 but were very strong. Loved them in their old location, this one was even better! Can't wait to go back

Cute New England style lobster place (north mopac location). The food was definitely on the pricier side but the lobster roll did not disappoint. Jalapeno slaw was also great. The fish sandwich was a little on the bland side, as were the hand cut fries. However the decor and the outdoor seating area are really top notch. Excellent place for a family meal with large groups, kids, dogs, etc.

If you are craving lobster rolls, this truck is a MUST!! I haven't yet made it to the Garbo's restaurant but I was super excited to try this food truck. I made the arrangements for this truck to come out to my neighborhood (I'm on my HOA Social Committee) and everyone was extremely impressed. I had a great experience working with Samantha and Heidi to ensure a successful event. They even send a Pre-Order link that allows you to designate the exact time you will be arriving. The crew was phenomenal and customer service top-notch! They arrived early and found the perfect spot at our location. Now the food....y'all...phenomenal!!! You have the choice between the Connecticut Style Lobster Roll (warm) and the Maine Lobster Roll (cold...but on a warm buttery roll of course). They also have other offerings. We got both kinds of rolls and shared them. They were both amazing!! They had very generous heaps of lobster on them. The Connecticut was nice, buttery and flavorful and the Maine Lobster Roll had a delicious zesty lemony kick to it. For a side we got the salad they offered and also the jalapeño slaw. The salad had an amazing vinaigrette dressing that I wish I had the recipe for. I was sharing with my fiancé and may have taken a bit more than my share (shhh). I also loved the jalapeño slaw. Not only was it beautiful but the hint of jalapeños gave it a unique kick. My Mama in Law was the only one that didn't order a lobster roll. She ended up ordering the Spicy Shrimp Roll and, based on how quickly she devoured it...I would say she was not disappointed. I really hope this food truck continued success. After trying the food truck I am now looking forward to checking out the restaurant!

I'm from New Hampshire, close to the border of Maine so you KNOW I know good seafood when I come across it. Me and one of my friends came here for a casual weekend brunch and were greeted with a talented acoustic set and the kindest staff to seat us in the darling outdoor patio. If you ask me, it gets the stamp of approval for all things seafood related!!!! Staff was well educated in their menu selection and attentive to our needs the entire time (timing our Electric Jellyfish beautifully may I add) Coincidentally we sat next to the owners mother and grandfather and they were the sweetest people ever. Loved learning about their family business and spirit of their long earned business hustle. Do yourself a favor and visit this location. It is family friendly with a small playground, plenty of delicious cocktails, and fresh seafood ready for you to enjoy.

My hubby had to work on a site that was near The republic square park, so my mom and I decided to wait at the park. We noticed two food trucks and one was Garbo's. Someone that used to work at Garbo's stated they had really good lobster roll, so I text the hunny and came right over. He ordered the spicy crab roll, I ordered the Connecticut Lobster roll with the ginger brew and my mom got the burger with avocado. All the food was delicious even after finding out my husband and I accidentally switched our orders but it was a pleasant mistake. lol I preferred the crab roll but they were both delicious and the bread was oh so good as well. The lobster roll could have more lobster meat but it was still tasty. My mom really like her burger and she is very picky, i'm sure that burger is really good and its a nice size patty too. The ginger brew is really good but it does have a kick to it and you can feel it in your throat. lol I definitely recommend this place and I will return for more. Its nice having the truck at the park.

The experience was alright there was nothing that blew me away. The one thing that did was the 8% service charge that showed up on the tab. I think you should give the customer the choice to pay this fee by telling them upfront instead of letting them find out when closing the tab. So for that I give this a 2 star rating.

The lobster grilled cheese is to die for! It's $19 but well worth it- they do NOT skimp on the lobster!!! The Cole slaw was also very very tasty! I'll order this every time!

I love Garbo's. I remember they came to UT as a food truck during a football game and my friend and I were starving so we ordered some rolls. They were delicious, the bun was so buttery, and there were also a good amount of lobster. It's definitely on the more expensive side for a meal, but seafood in Austin can only be so cheap. I would splurge any day for Garbo's, and I wish there was one closer to me.

    Austin P.

Not worth it. Tons of money for that lobster roll, which is chilled lobster by the way. Two rolls isn't enough for one person, and each roll they skimp you out in the lobster. No thanks.

It's wasn't too busy but the music was on the loud side. Maybe a touch lower please? The burrito was really nice. I thought that maybe my Mahi Mahi would be a little thicker? The fish seemed slim in comparison to the whole of the "Maines" entree. Jalapeño slices accompanied for some pizzazz. The sauce was flavorful and left no shortage of drips. I chose the side of fries. Perfectly made and absolutely screams fresh cut & fried. There's only one problem with them. They tasted fishy. That's because they fry them in the same fryer as the fish is fried. Not my kind of expectation with perfectly golden crisps. I would advise using a stand alone fryer for potatoes only please. Knox my server was very kind and hospitable & we enjoyed talking about the best hot sauce in the world which is found here, Belize's Marie Sharp's. That's a real winner to accompany your meal. Garbo's is classy but to get lobster which is what they're known for, you're going to have to pay for it. It was unfortunately a higher ticket item than I was willing to go for. Definitely improved in value from last time, thank you Garbo's. It's a nice place to dine & I hope to continue getting a superb value when I'm able to visit there again.

The atmosphere was cozy, with a smooth R&B playlist spinning in the background. As you'd expect, the restaurant focuses on Southern comfort food...think fried chicken, wings, and waffles. The standout for me was the catfish: crispy, flavorful, and coated with a slightly heavier cornmeal crust than usual, which added a nice texture. We both went with the 2 | 2 combo...two meats and two sides...choosing fried chicken wings and catfish. For sides, we had yams, fries, Mac n cheese and my favorite...grits. The food tasted like something straight out of a family kitchen...comforting, hearty, and satisfying. Portions were generous and reasonably priced, so much so that we didn't have room for dessert on the spot. We did, however, grab some banana pudding to go and I'm glad we did. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The hubby and I got to enjoy some quality time while he enjoyed one of his favorite meals...a win-win! Happy Father's Day!
