Dude this place was a sweet surprise. Located next to our hotel so location was perfect for us. Me, my wife, and 3 young kids (5, 4, 1.5 yo) are from out of town. We should have called in our order but we were already out so we just went in and ordered. We ordered two cups of hot and sour soup, chicken lo mein, band bang shrimp, and general tso chicken. After we ordered, food was handed to us 12-15 minutes after. We were surprised it came out as quick. The lobby was bare with only 5-6 chairs for those waiting for food. ALL FOOD WAS STILL HOT AND TRAVELED WELL Hot and sour soup was okay. I've had better, I've had worse. I do wish it came with the fried little crisp things. We didn't ask for them, we just assumed they'd come with. The chicken lo mein was great. The portion was big, fed my three kids and enough left for my wife and I to have a few bites! Would definitely get this again. General tso chicken with white rice was also really good. Again, portion was nice. Wasn't too spicy but still had a little kick. Texture wasn't too crispy but also wasn't soggy. I was expecting a little sogginess since we traveled back with it, but it was really good. Bang bang shirt with white rice was great. Tso Chinese is takeout and delivery only, and might be my go to for American Chinese food in Austin. Really liked their general tso's chicken and fried rice. Also their crab rangoon uses real blue crab meat- it's delish! They have plenty of parking and the staff is really friendly. I've been hearing pretty good things about Tso Chinese. I had to check this spot out the other day, and I was impressed. The Manager, Paul greeted me as soon as I walked in. Its a very nice, clean, and friendly atmosphere. I ordered the chicken and broccoli plate. The chicken was tender, juicy, and very good. The broccoli was cooked just right with a good crisp and flavorful. Its not expensive at all, and the free fortune cookies was a real treat. Today was our last supper with our family visiting from Chicago, IL and we decided to select Chinese. Tso Chinese Takeout & Delivery is a "to go" restaurant only. There is no seating inside nor outside. I was going to the Whole Foods and decided to swing by Tso's to pick up food (a few minutes away.) We ordered chicken fried rice, bang bang shrimp, honey BBQ wings and Szechuan green beans. All the food we ordered was tasty. The chicken fried rice, the stand out, was a large portion with large chunks of chicken. The bang bang shrimp were large crispy on the outside and soft inside with an orange mayonnaise...perfect combo of ingredients. My order was ready when I arrived. The cashier was quick to it bring out. She also included fortune cookies. What is Chinese food without fortune cookies? These fortune cookies were quite unique - half the traditional fortune cookie and the other half chocolate. We all liked the Tso dishes and equally liked our foretold fortunes. read more

We just moved to Austin and this is the first Chinese place we tried. I thought it was great. We all enjoyed our food very much and it was quickly ready and nice and hot when we got it. We ordered gyoza, egg rolls, crab rangoons, general tsos chicken, orange chicken and beef with broccoli. Had a terrible first interaction at this establishment. I entered the restaurant waiting to be helped and another lady who'd entered after me was assisted with her order. The server proceeded to walk away never acknowledging I was standing there. Never asked me if I had been helped or needed anything. I needed a late dinner the other night and this was the perfect spot for late takeout. Me and my boyfriend ordered the orange chicken and the chicken and broccoli. I upgraded my order to add the hot and sour soup and two tiny fried spring rolls and I'm glad I did. The soup was very good and the spring rolls were nice and crispy. The chicken entrees were both great, the breading on the orange chicken was very nice and I enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and broccoli. Service was also extremely fast! It's good for fast food Chinese. It wasn't saturated or overly cooked. You could tell the oil needed to be turned down or possibly changed. Some items had a distinctive burnt cooking-oil aftertaste, if you know what I mean. If your jonesing for Chinese take out it will satisfy your craving. If you're wanting something that's above the take out level of food quality, might look at another place. Ordering and pick-up went extremely well and they are priced reasonably. My mom and I came here for egg drop soup, and after one taste, I can honestly say it was the WORST egg drop soup I've ever had.IN.MY.LIFE. I'm not being dramatic, and I don't usually leave reviews--this is actually my first Yelp review ever. The soup tasted and smelled overwhelmingly like corn. The egg was just sitting at the bottom instead of being properly incorporated into the broth. I don't know if this is how this particular location makes it, but it genuinely tasted like someone dumped canned corn and boiled eggs into corn juice with a little chicken broth mixed in. It wasn't good. Was it technically edible? Sure. But edible and enjoyable are two very different things. I finished a few bites out of courtesy, not because I wanted to. Take out only, just a little waiting room inside the building. There is a picnic table on the side of the building that one could use if inclined. To me this is the standard of takeout/ delivery Chinese food! I was looking for something simple late at night and was a little wary of ordering takeout 30min before closing time but there wasn't much else within walking distance of the hotel. The whole area seemed a bit run down with the big retail locations being closed down and long empty. Apple Maps walking directions said I arrived when I walked past the old Bed/Bath/Beyond, other than that no issue with walking from Hotel to Tso after dark. When I arrived I was a bit surprised that it was just a lobby but the employee greeted me as soon as I opened the door and grabbed my food quickly. When I got to hotel my egg rolls were still very hot! And the Tso's chicken with egg noodles was temperature hot and a bit spicy. Definitely tasted like it was fresh made right then and there! I got the bowl and it was a very hearty serving! Lots of chicken great value for the price I got it at the time. The sauce with egg rolls was a bit more like sweet chili sauce than sweet and sour but it was a nice surprise! I ordered takeout and I didn't get half of my order. Obviously should have checked the bag before I left but it is tied in a knot to where you would have to rip the bag to check the contents. This place has completely lost the plot. I haven't eaten at this place on a regular basis in several years because it's gotten so expensive but there was a buy one plate get one plate deal on uber eats. I used to eat here at least once a week back in 2020. I ate here once in 2024 and it was about the same. I ordered it regular spicy generals chicken and with fried rice. I understand food prices are high right now, but the portions are literally half of what they used to be for $5 more cost. Not only that somehow it has half the seasoning. How much cost saving can you have by putting half the seasoning? The chicken is also cut into much smaller pieces so the chicken is more breading than meat. I got the fried rice for an up charge and the rice had white rice mixed into it. Not only that was so incredibly unseasoned. It was virtually indistinguishable from white rice besides the chunks of vegetables, which there were very few. With two plates i got less food than I would have from one order a year ago. Pretty good food, and a great place to go to for honey walnut shrimp and crab rangoons! I would definitely get both of those again. Whereas the eggplant chicken was okay simply because I feel like there wasn't much chicken. It was mostly filler vegetables like bell peppers and onions. The drunken noodles were pretty decent too but it wasn't anything too special. It's a little hard/annoying to order in through the website because it won't let you choose the 2 of the same appetizer for catering. But if you just email your order in to the restaurant, they're really good about answering in a reasonable time. Im also not the biggest fan of the position sizing in the family meal for 20. If you have 20 people, one order of crab rangoons only feeds 12. But order two portions, and most people only get one crab rangoon, plus you're out of space for any other appetizers. I think it'd be easier to just have one order include 20 rangoons so that everyone can have one, and then your other appetizer option is still open, and just raise the price of the catering by a little. I ordered takeout on Monday night and got two orders of the Drunken beef noodles and an order of the veggie spring rolls. I had low expectations since I knew this was definitely Americanized Chinese food, but my partner and I were still very disappointed with the food we received. One order of the drunken beef noodles came with tons of noodles and only 5 pieces of beef. The other order of the noodles came with a ton of beef and almost no noodles. I could write a novel about how much I love Tso, but I'll start with the Crab Rangoons. They use REAL BLUE CRAB! Nobody does that, and it makes them the best I've ever had. Beyond that, every dish is a hit. The shrimp dishes come packed with shrimp, the beef is always tender, and the spring rolls are so crispy and delicious.
