Can't wait for some awesome fish and chips.
Chuck M.

East Ft. Worth location. We got there right when the truck was winding up their time at the Eastchase stop. There was no line so service was super quick. The fish and chips were what I expected and prepared as expected. The three pieces are an ample amount to satisfy my craving for fish and chips. Totally yummy. I love their sweet chili sauce.

I've been frequenting On The Hook for the last couple of years when they are in Plano or near Little Elm. This used to be the ultimate go-to for delicious fish and chips, but the portion of fries has significantly decreased while the prices continue to climb. I'm not sure if certain trucks are being frugal or if this is the new norm, but I don't feel like I get $19 worth of food anymore, and it's been like this for a while now. I haven't found a place with better fish (Alaskan cod) and chips yet, so I keep coming back. It just doesn't feel worth it anymore.

Fish and chips

Food taste great. Good fish and fries. Not a big fan of the cole slaw. Also my tray was worth the price(first pic). My sisters look like they just took 3 strips and said "this'll do"(second pic). And the first pic was after I already ate some. Don't really agree with the portion for the $18 price tag. Clam chowder was good.

This what I got for $14 Q til is for size comparison

You get 3 stars cause the food was good. But for $14 all u get is three little pieces of meat SIDES ARE NOT INCLUDED THE French fries are extra if you want them. I work hard for my money this is to expensive for my blood. I'll be going to Long John Silver's from now on.

Stopped by while they visited Kerrville. Best fish food truck I've had to date. New yelp account, fourth fish food truck. Price was on point. Sunny and the crew told everyone 6-7 minutes for order. They were exactly that. COD was crisp and should had gotten two orders of fries for a snack at midnight. Very good. Back in Kerrville October.

Cod Sandwich and fries with a tasty root beer.

On the Hook Fish & Chips food truck delivered an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked up, we were greeted with a friendly smile and a genuine "how can I help you." I ordered the Cod Sandwich and two Fish and Chip plates. The portions were generous, and the flavors did not disappoint. The cod was cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside and tender inside. The Fish and Chips plates were just as delightful, with flaky fish and well-seasoned fries. The spicy mayo was the star of the show, adding just the right kick to elevate the Cod Sandwich to the next level. This is a food truck worth chasing down!

Really enjoyed the fish and chips plate from On the Hook. I arrived at about 11:45am and had my food very soon after I ordered. Both fish and chips were still crispy by the time I picked it up and drove back home to eat. The gentleman taking the orders was very pleasant and offered their new Chile sauce...it was good!

OK boys and girls, gather around. Finally, after long last, I have found a real fish and chips dinner. This is how it is supposed to be done. The right fish, no extra heavy doughy batter covering, excellent fries with the coup de gras...malt vinegar (even if it was in packets-it is a food truck after all). On a scale of 1 to 5 I give them a 10. After being stationed in Scotland for two years I saw what F&S should look and taste like. I have only had one equally satisfying experience in California years ago, but that place is no longer in operation. Take it to the bank...get on the hook!

I had hoped we would get an outdoor table to appreciate the view but all tables were booked when I made the reservation and were still booked when we got there a bit early. It was also overcast that day. Even though we were a bit early, they were able to seat us quickly. We ended up just having drinks and one side item (yummy squash dish). We made the decision to leave before a full meal because the menu wasn't as vegetarian and gluten free friendly as we'd thought it might be. Danny was our waiter and he was very understanding! He gave us several great drink recommendations. We all very much enjoyed our cocktails and mocktail with a side appetizer of squash. We appreciated the discount on valet parking if you eat at Nido and get your ticket validated. I'm sure I'll be back here on a sunny day and book far enough in advance to sit outside.

The cocktails were delicious, although definitely on the pricey side. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. The portions were extremely small, and the prices felt very steep for both the quality and the amount served. While the presentation was nice, the taste simply didn't justify the cost. On top of that, having to pay $15 for valet added even more to an already expensive evening. Overall, Nido is worth visiting once for the views and a cocktail, but I personally wouldn't return for dinner. There are plenty of other spots in Austin that offer much better value for the price.

We ordered the Prime Rib Sunday special with the twice baked potato, the wagyu burger and fries, and the whipped ricotta with pecan pesto appetizer -- and every single dish was exceptional. The whipped ricotta was an amazing way to start the meal, and the prime rib special was absolutely worth ordering. The burger was also fantastic and cooked perfectly. The vibe inside was rustic but upscale, with warm wood-paneled walls that gave the restaurant a really inviting atmosphere. The service was friendly, attentive, and helped make the whole experience feel relaxed and fun before the concert. Honestly, the hardest part was looking at the rest of the menu knowing there are already several other things I want to come back and try ASAP. Only suggestion: definitely make a reservation. This place is popular for a reason.

The truffled deviled eggs were AMAZING! We also had chicken liver mousse and duck fries. We sat on the back patio. Weather was great for it. There was a spicy mocktail that received mixed reviews from the group but I enjoyed it. Ginger beer, Tabasco were definitely to the forefront in the mix.

Austin doesn't have many great seafood restaurants so I'm so happy that this place exists!!! 4-5:30…read moreis happy hour and my group basically ordered one of every app that was on HH. The buttered crab fingers were SO damn good we ordered another. The smoked trout dip was lovely. The shishitos were surprisingly spicy but I enjoyed that. The fried oyster slider was only fine, and I would probably skip that going forward (I think it's a Gulf oyster). But the raw East Coast oysters were delicious! Mains: i tried the lobster orrechiette ($46 on the day I was there) and one of the specials of the day, a pompano with kabocha and gailan. Both were great but I really especially loved the creamy lobster pasta. After a long week at work, it just really hit the spot. For dessert, we tried the pot du (chocolate) crème, the flourless chocolate torte, and the olive oil cake with blackberry sauce. My favorite was the pot du crème which was so smooth and decadent. The flourless chocolate torte felt a little lost under all the cream, and the olive oil cake was just a little too sweet for my tastes. But others in my group loved those ones. This place is so unassuming from the outside but so so lovely on the inside.

A Seafood Lover's Dream -- Fresh, Soulful, Unforgettable…read more If you haven't yet discovered Mongers Market + Kitchen, consider this your sign to go -- and go soon. After just one visit, it's easy for me to understand why the buzz refuses to die down. The Food: Fresh, Chef-Driven, and Exceptional Mongers lives and breathes quality seafood, and it shows in every single dish. Daily fish specials, like the superb halibut with lemon tarragon beurre blanc sauce I had today, keep the menu feeling alive and seasonal, and the creatively curated menu selections are outstanding. Every dish feels intentional, ingredient-forward, and deeply satisfying. The Atmosphere: Casual Meets Upscale The space strikes a balance that isn't easy to pull off -- unobtrusively nautical-themed and cozy without veering into kitschy territory, rustic without feeling rough around the edges. It's the kind of place that works equally well for a relaxed date night or an intimate dinner with close friends. The warm lighting, close-set tables, and unhurried pace create an atmosphere that encourages you to slow down, order another round of oysters, and stay a while. Small touches--coastal blue tinted water glasses, discreet deco lamps on the exquisitely tiled bar--further convey the establishment's understated, Austin-aligned elegance. The Service: Knowledgeable and Genuinely Attentive The staff here know their seafood, and they're happy to talk about it. Whether you're debating between the crudo and the fish special or trying to navigate the market's fresh offerings, the team brings a friendly confidence and attentiveness that elevates the whole experience. They're the kind of servers who enhance your meal rather than simply facilitate it. The Market: A Bonus Worth Celebrating One of Mongers' most charming features is its retail market component, where you can take home fresh fish and prepared items on your way out. It's a thoughtful touch that extends the experience well beyond the table and speaks to the establishment's genuine love of great seafood in all its forms. On Pricing and Happy Hour Yes, Mongers leans toward the higher end of the price spectrum -- but for the quality on the plate, it's more than justified. That said, the ample lunch menu offers a bit of a price break and their happy hour is a smart way to sample what this kitchen does best at a more accessible price point, and it's become something of a local institution in its own right. Mongers Market + Kitchen isn't just a meal -- it's an experience that lingers long after the last bite. Don't miss it.
