This is our first trip to Atlantic Beach and our first night out to dinner. We were very pleased! Our server, Lynn, was excellent. She was very helpful when ordering and attentive throughout the meal. We had peel and eat shrimp to start-delicious! Every single person enjoyed their meal, including my 21 month old. Food was very good!! The price and the wait was also reasonable. You can tell they are new and weren't quite ready for the week of the 4th on the island but the kitchen really handled it well!! We ordered our food to go and it was good, fast and good. Nothing spectacular, but good. My husband ordered the burger bacon cheeseburger and that thing was HUGE! Good flavor though; my shrimp tacos had a good bite to them, they did not skimp at all in the amount of shrimp! One taco was enough for this lady that loves to eat. Mom had the shrimp and grits and that was good too. My daughter tried to have the chicken quesadilla but they forgot the cheese?! Amazing!!! We went to AB for a 4 night stay and I ate here 3 nights out of the 4. I had the fried shrimp and scallops and they were cooked to perfection, very lightly battered and the scallops just melted in my mouth. So delicious!! Even the french fries were super delish. On the Rocks is so good! The parking lot is kind of difficult to navigate, but it is so worth it. The inside of the restaurant is designed around a stage where they play live music (not all the time). The food is excellent and of average price. The food, decor, atmosphere etc is just nothing short of very average. This restaurant is an old nightclub turned into a restaurant/sports bar. The lemon snapper tasted like cardboard and was way over cooked. The slaw came out in a plastic cup and tasted and looked liked it was bought from Food Lion. The salad bar was decent. This place has to be one of the best restaurants on the East Coast. The salad bar is fresh and full of great choices including beets and olives. My wife's portion of Shrimp and grits was extremely generous, a great blend of tender grits at quinoa consistency and a unique cheddar sauce. Ate inside and had a great experience! The tables are well spaced apart and the staff all wore masks. The chowder and pretzels, which we started with, were very good; the pretzel isn't a stand recipe but better, and very fresh dough. I'll just state again the chowder is VERY good! Husband had the rib eye French dip, my daughter had the burger, and I had wings. All very good. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Well, lightning does strike twice in the same place! Lovey and I went last night and again tonight. Wonderful! Night one was grilled tuna and fried clam strips. The grilled tuna was perfect and the wasabi was unbelievably good. Clam strips were perfect. Night two was Island Shrimp and fried oysters. The spice on the shrimp was unbelievably good and oysters were exquisite. Two home runs! The chef is not afraid of spice, and I love that! Our server both nights was Lisa, and she is a delight. Excellent customer service and attention to detail. Ask for Lisa! (Important). The food quality is worthy of a white table cloth establishment, but OTR is a very casual and relaxed place. Leave your bad attitude at the door and be prepared to be amazed with some delicious offerings! There's a creative culinary genius in the kitchen. read more

Me and my boyfriend have been contemplating trying this restaurant. Today we finally splurged and tried it contrary to the talks around town of it being high priced. I personally think it was priced just right for the portions. I got the steamed shrimp with old bay and MY GOD-- they were amazing! Don't let the outside fool you, this place is so good. Only thing i will say is the food took a while to come out and that's why it's not 5 stars, though that didn't bother me much after tasting the amazing food. After all the rave reviews we decided to go to On The Rocks for dinner our first night at Atlantic Beach. Big mistake!! We ordered cocktails, crab dip and boneless wings. The drinks were just ok but hey they had alcohol in them so we didn't waste them. The wings were obviously frozen and the sweet chili sauce tasted like it came straight from a bottle. Don't even get me started on the crab dip! The very first bite was so awful I couldn't even try it again. My mother bravely tried it twice and she agreed that it tasted like bad fish (tasted like canned cat food smells). It was not hot yet there was melted cheese on top and it was supposed to have lump crabmeat in it and there were no lumps at all! Eat here at your own risk! The server noticed that I had pushed the dip to the end of the table and asked if it was ok. We told her we didn't care for it and she said "it's not for everyone". She was able to take it off our order which was most appreciated. Did not stick around for dinner...obviously. Check out Moonrakers in Beaufort and ask for Will (the server). read more

I am not sure why this place gets such great reviews unless it is for location near the hotel. The hot wings were not hot at all, my fish came with instant mashed potatoes and the food was really expensive for that level of food. Food was ok. My wife had Cajun chicken pasta and she loved that. I had the seared tuna. It was not seared at all. They brought out a huge hunk over tuna that was basically sashimi. It looked they may have dropped it on a semi hot cast iron for a second then dropped it on the other side. Just enough to make it turn colors but not enough to "sear" it at all. Good thing I like sushi. I ate it because it had good flavor and I do like sashimi and it was a nice size lid piece. It just needed a hotter pan or a little more time in it. read more

We went to dinner here and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Since it is still off season there were few customers. We both had flounder, my husband's was fried and mine was broiled. Both dinners were delicious. I also had brussel sprouts fried in bacon which were extremely tasty. My husband's fries were some of the best we've ever had. I hesitate to say something negative about a place I've been in once, but it wasn't much. I was very excited that they had Cajun boneless wings, but as it turned out I was very disappointed. Me wife and I both had boneless wings that were fried way too much, and the deep-fried mac and cheese we had as an appetizer was nothing you couldn't find in your local grocery's frozen section. We finally tried this place today. We had never been inside before and were surprised when we went in and found a nicely decorated, very roomy dining area.
