I enjoy getting a little cash for my child's gently used items. It's a bit hit or miss when it comes to consigning and buying, however. They also need more space. It is so crowded up by the counter and extremely busy. They need a separate drop off section away from where you want to purchase items. I just had the worst experience ever at my local Once Upon a Child store in Brandon. They have lost my business and I will find another consignment shop to use! I have been using them for a very long time and have consigned of lot of things there in today was a disaster. There was at least five or six girls behind the counter not one of them was friendly! They told me it was going to be 3 to 4 hours to go through my stuff which was no problem at all except for that I get all the way back home which is 20 minutes from there and almost immediately I get a phone call that they have already gone through my stuff. I was a little annoyed but got back in the car and turned around and went back to get it. I had taken them to laundry baskets full of toys and books and games and almost brand new condition and one garbage bag full of clothing items. Upon my return there they offer me only $25 and I realized that they hadn't even gone through half of my stuff so now I had to sit there and wait while they went through it. They were discussing my items and one girl told them it was something they needed in stock to take it and the other girl told me that she was the buyer that day and couldn't take it but I could bring it back another day. Are you kidding me!?! I'm already here why in the world would I load all of my stuff up and bring it back another day just to get a different buyer. They had no clue what was going on in their own store which wouldn't have been so bad if they were at least friendly about it. Very disappointed and I feel like I don't even know if I got paid correctly for the stuff that they did buy because it was such a train wreck behind the counter today. Very disappointing experience that has cost them my business and I have lots of mommy friends that I will definitely be spreading the word too! read more

Great place to purchase new or lightly used children's clothing for a fraction of the price! The also have toys, books, clothes, bedding (and accessories), swings, strollers, etc. I've bought so many clothes for my son as well as a breast-feeding pillow (retails for $45, I got it for $20!). I constantly see a ton of items behind the register that they just received, they're always buying used items from people. I stop in here at least once a month. They are a little more pricey that the children's consignment shop directly across the street (Lil Sprouts) but they have a MUCH larger selection and probably more new clothes with tags still on them. That being said, its also worth stopping in to Lil Sprouts - they have plenty of $0.99 onesies that you can't beat! read more

The service was nice at check out but some of the employees barrel through the store with out anything close to an "Excuse me." So over all, I give the customer service a 3. The items that they had were generally of decent quality. However, the prices aren't really that great. There was a faux leather jacket with a gaping hole in the arm and they still had it priced at 15.00. Some of the toys were obviously dollar tree buys were priced at 2.99. Yes, you can buy a real polo here for around 7.99, about half the price you'd pay the mall, However, I can go down the street to the salvation army and buy a real kids polo for 1.99. If you have a list of clothing that you need this place would be great as t hey have a huge selection and you'll probably find what you're looking for, but if your just browsing for a deal try the regular thrift stores or yard sales. They are hit and miss but the prices are better. Overall I give the prices a 2. The store was pretty clean an organized and I'll give that a 4. read more

I love Once Upon A Child ! I wish this store existed when my child was small. I am a Grandma now and get all my extra baby equipment from them, great place for bouncy chairs, walkers, portable cribs and strollers. I also love picking up toys from there.....and of course the clothes, gently used and sometimes never worn clothes for the grand babies....Love it! read more

I've visited other Once Upon a Child locations many times. I'm used to the friendly atmosphere and great customer service that the other stores provided. I walk into the Brandon location, and I'm forced to wait as one employee stands in the checkout area and proceeds to carry on a conversation. I had my items checked in at 12:30 and was told that there was a 2.5 hour wait time and they would close early at 6 due to Halloween. Ok no problem. I received a call at 2:00 and the caller stated that I "need to come get my stuff". I don't know what her idea of good customer service is, but that's not it!!! I go in to pick up my items and I'm told that I would receive $32.50 in cash or $42.50 in store credit. As I previously stated I been going to Once Upon a child for years. That was never included in the buyback policy!!! If the policy changed then they should make the customers aware from the start. When I asked why there was a $10 difference in the offers, the associatr replied with a shrug. That pretty much sealed the deal for me. I will not be visiting this location again. read more

I have only great things to talk about this wonderful consingment store! I've been using their items from the last 7 years and all their clothes are always in extremely good condition! Shoes,toys and accessories are kept under a reasonable price comparing to the real stores...you can make big savings buying at the store and for me,the entire stuff are always friendly and polite.I am very thankful for having Once Upon a Child by my side on times when we need to be a little more wise when comes to spend our money! read more

I went there a while ago and remembered why I hate that specific store. Every time I've been in there the clerks have been so rude. I went in to sell some kid toys and they were later rejected after I called and was told they had enough room for them. Not only did I drive 45 min to get there but once I got there I was told how I couldn't bring one of their carts to my car to fill it with the items I was going to be selling. Mind you, I was about 8 months pregnant at that time. So I had to get in my car, pull it to the front of the store, then unload everything. No one bothered to say hello upon walking in. No one bothered to hold the door or open it when they saw I was clearly having issues trying to get all the stuff in side. Then after lugging all that into the store they could only take like 1 item out of 10 things. It was really a waste of my time and energy. I have not been back to that store and probably will never be going back simply because of the customer service I received. read more

This place is ridiculous! Going into the store, you think you're going to find some great deals on gently used items. Their prices on some of their items are very close to what you would pay for the same item brand new. We've bought things from there and after gently using them ourselves, brought them back to them for re-selling, only to be told that they were worth less than half of what we paid, then to go back and find them selling it for what we bought it for a couple of months earlier. I totally understand that they are in business to make money, but goodness gracious. They made money on the first go round then again on the second. Another issue: the attitudes of some of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. They act like they don't want anyone in the store ever because they would have to work. They never smile and they act like they have better things to do than wait on you. I've been there a couple of times and don't plan on returning to shop here. I'd rather pay full price at stores than to deal with this place and its staff again. read more
