I've heard a lot of mix reviews about this location, but every time I came in I always had a good experience whether I was buying or selling. Not today, I dropped off my stuff and got a call pretty soon after. The younger girl that checked me out had to call the person supervising sells I'm assuming, she told me in a very demeaning & condescending way that they were passing on all of my stuff because it all smelled. She said that it all smelled dirty and it smelled like garage. She also told me that for next time to make I washed and cleaned my items. I never take anything dirty, I always make sure to only take things I would buy so it's always washed and cleaned. Now I don't have a problem with her not taking the stuff, the problem is how she communicated it. It felt like she wanted to embarrass me, which she said. I was so embarrassed I just said oh okay. After I checked out and picked up my items I asked her to clarify what what was the smell and she once again with her condescending tone said "it's dirty and it smells like garage" I told her that I don't keep my things in a garage and her attitude was very rude to the point where another employee jumped in. Again, I don't have a problem with them not taking the items, but just the way she said it. read more

I've never sold anything so I can't review on that. But I have purchased clothes and toys and can say the variety is great and pricing is too. I've been going there since my daughter was a newborn. She's two now. Love how all the clothes are sorted by age and color and item type, makes it easy to find things. I've never been a thifter due to the disorganization but this makes saving money easy. read more

You have to pay attention to who is working, and doing the item assessments when you are trying to sell. One employee turns a lot of things away for having a supposed "odor". However, I have brought clothing that was out of the washer/dryer mere hours beforehand (in a brand new washer and dryer with city water, no less). I have brought non clothing items such as books, toys, and games, some brand new still in original packaging. Obviously, I clean/wipe down the items beforehand, and use to use a multisurface product without issue, but switched it up when she turned it all away. So, I used sanitizing wipes the next time, and still got that line. But when I used just plain old soap and water, and she STILL tried claiming a an odor. So, I'm officially convinced claiming odors is her "go to line" that she uses to avoid having to do more work than she wants to, and the perfect excuse for passing on entire loads that no boss can either confirm nor deny from just watching the security cameras. The condescension and patronization just solidified it for me. read more

I wouldn't bother trying to sell clothing here unless you want to get 10 cents. List it on Facebook marketplace or give it away for free in a buy nothing Facebook group, you'll spend more in gas coming to the store than you'll make. read more

Best location to sell your clothes! I always leave with only few pieces which they dont take but most of the clothes they do.The store in Scherriville is the other way around. They barely take anything. And I always had great customer service experience here versus at Scherriville location. That's why I always come here. I try to bring new like looking clothes and more worn take to Goodwill. That's my approach and it's paying off. Dont all of us want to buy new like clothes at resell stores as well? Let's look at that from this angle and we wont complain when they don't take more than gently used clothes. And yes, I was not happy at first to see how much they pay you but than I realize that I wouldn't make much more at garage sale. So at least I get SOME money and clear the space in my house . I come to this store at least every two weeks lol. They have a huge selection and I always find what I'm looking for. To be honest I came to leave this review after overhearing a conversation one of the employees was having with an unhappy customer. Said customer was upset they would only receive store credit after coming in the day after dropping off items to sell. The employee was respectful and direct even when the customer was giving her a hard time. I commend all the other employees for having each others backs while keeping things professional. read more

This is my go to store but the service is terrible. Most employees have bad attitudes and are unfriendly. I find the store well organized and the selection is good so I keep coming since the rude employees seem to turn over quickly. read more

I started going to Once Upon A Child when I had my daughter a year ago. Due to her being preemie someone suggested that I try this store because I couldn't find any preemie clothes. The few times I have gone into this location I have felt unwanted and mistreated. Today, I went in to sell and the cashier was rude. She tossed the receipt at me and sat my money down on the counter as if she didn't want to touch me. As convenient as this location is for me, I vow to never step foot into this location ever again! read more

This Crown Point store couldn't care less about their customers. I bought a $25 infant seat which broke before I got it in the house. Returned it to the store 3 days later with a receipt and was offered a $2 coupon. I suggested they give me a portion of the cost. They can keep their seat and the money, not going back to the CP store. I hear the Valpo store is nice. read more

i promise they're all dumb and rude here. Acts like they hate their jobs and talks bad about customers / laughs at them. Told me it'll be 5 to 10 minutes for a small jumper, waited a half hour. Ended up not even taking it because the latch for the wall trim was 'bent' yet i bought it like that from this place 5 months ago. Waste of time. They don't know what they're doing at all. Schererville store is much much better. Service wise and accurate with times. Helps you out. Went there right after and they took it. This place is a joke LOL read more

I do recommend this store. Prices are great compared to most stores. They are picky with clothing, but they should be. "Gently used clothes" is thier motto. Some people buy too many clothes for thier chileans have to get rid of them and I benefit. Be that as it may ,they do have some pretty crappy attitudes at times In the store. They hire teens and people who are older with little to no education which causes the attitude to be there. There is probably not a class or presentation on costumer service, along with the location I think they assume everyone has money and is snooty. Although this is not the case for ever person who walks in the door, the people are bias. In addition to this, is is just a kids clothing store, I mean think about it, as long as its organized and you go on sale days it's totally worth it. It's got a good selection and is a one stop store from everything from unused hair bows, stain spray, kids utensils, pacifiers to used clothing, baby chairs, shoes, pajamas and toys. Overpriced for selling used items, I have seen things here for a higher price than I payed for in a store. As for selling there, they have no idea what they are doing. They pass on quality items, that are popular. But will buy lower quality toys and clothing. The store a great concept, if they had knowledgeable staff. I will give it 2 stars, just because occasionally, you can find a good deal there, because they have no idea what they are selling. read more

Sold to them a few times. No, they don't take everything. But I don't expect them to. They have to draw the line somewhere. I mean, how many Baby Bjorns and strollers (even "quality" ones) can one store sell? But, hey, making a few dollars off old baby stuff is better than no dollars, right? So it's totally worth it in my opinion and I'd definitely go back again to sell or buy. read more

Great place to shop. Prices are pretty decent, just make sure to look over the items really well. Selling to them? Don't waste your time. You wait a fairly long time for them to only cherry pick what they want. Not worth your time. read more
