I give this fraudster a rating of minus five!! The worst scam artist I ever experienced. He advised I needed extensive crown work, deep cleaning which he charged me over $300 for, pretending to do deep cleaning but took approx 10 minutes and did not clean my teeth, instead moving a polishing brush around in my mouth and even had difficulty using his own antiquated equipment. After checking other reviews from some of his patients which basically said he was a con artist, totally incompetent and is not knowledgeable enough to treat patients, some wanted to sue him for fraud, etc, I saw a very qualified dentist for proper evaluation who basically advised me i did not need the treatment this moron wanted to perform, and who was required to clean my teeth because I did not get a proper cleaning! My advice is to not go near this poor excuse of a man and you will be at high risk to allow him to touch your teeth. I concur with prior patients that this thug should lose his license. read more

Horrible quality work. I got a simple crown done by the dentist in august. He was very kind to fit me as it was an emergency. He also charged me $1,600 because it was an emergency. I should have known better. The tooth fell out less than a month after getting the crown put in. It has since fallen out 3 times in total. Every dentist I've seen to get the crown put back in has said that this practice did a horrible job. The crown is misshapen and the teeth around it were prepared wrong. There is no way to fix the mistakes that this dentist caused. I have had to make speciality dentist appointments to try to fix all of their mistakes. I was overcharged and given absolutely awful quality. Definitely look elsewhere if you want actual solutions and not just larger problems. I see there are similar complaints to mine. Wow... Seems I'm on a different page from these other Yelpers! I am someone who has always HATED dentists and I absolutely love Dr. K and his office. Been a patient for two years and have had only really great experiences. The office staff has been great when it comes to scheduling, insurance, etc. The main hygienist (Rachel) is completely awesome: fast, thorough, skillful, and friendly. Dr. Kousoulis himself is a bit of a character and to me really fun, and he is a really good dentist. Have had him do several basic procedures on me at this point, and just recently started Invisalign treatment. He has always been willing to explain everything in friendly detail, and has been really fair when it comes to payment for the Invisalign. It's pretty shocking to me to see these other reviews because my personal experience honestly couldn't be better or more different from theirs. read more

I selected this dentist because I am lazy and his office was 1.5 blocks from my apartment. I noticed the negative reviews but I figured (a) I am lazy (b) You never know; sometimes Yelpers are haters. Yikes. I am a very outgoing person but his bedside manner was off-putting (too forward ... you just met me, dude). I also did not appreciate how he tried to veer me towards selecting a filling type that would result in maximum payment for him, rather than what I preferred. He provided me erroneous information regarding costs which influenced my decision to go with a particular type of filling even though I preferred the other type. Fast forward, and the cavities he filled he did so poorly that every time I eat something I now get food caught back there. There is a giant gap that he did not close in my fillings. I found a new dentist who had to drill out the shoddy fillings he did and refill -- fortunately, she was willing to give me the white fillings that I'd wanted all along. Dentists should help make your teeth better, not worse. Thumbs down on this guy. I have had five dentists in my lifetime and he is the worst I've ever had, by far. read more

I also think that I am on a different page with my fellow yelpers regarding Dr. K. My husband has gone to him for over 10 years and referred me to him back when we first started dating 5 years ago. I have only had one cleaning that was painful, but it was really my fault since I was a lazy flosser between cleanings. I have never had any major work done there, just a few cavities filled and when one fell out, he re-filled it and I have not had any issues since. One of the receptionists is freaking hilarious and really helpful. The hygenist is very thorough. We just moved out of Philly, so we will not be able to visit this office anymore. We have switched our appointments to his other office in Lansdowne. I understand that some of the staff does not work out of that office, so we'll see how I like the new office. read more

So much to say!! Don't let this guy(peter ) do work on your teeth or his secretary either. I am trying ot prevent what happened to me!!! He never took off a Luminer befor me so he said as I was in the chair all numbed up. I lived in philly for a year and moved back to dallas pa and I had to take a day off work to do this as I was sitting there he was arguing with me why it had to come off!!! and my old dentist ( i had since i was a kid) saw me this summer he said its a probelem that he did it wrong. (all smiles/peter) And he did one heck of a job...or should I say his secretary did because she is the one that built me a fake tooth ahat was bright yellow. she is nice but she isnt ceritfied to do anything!! I've been going to Dr. K for over 10 years. He's a fantastic dentist and very personable. I love that he remembers things about me and every time I return for a cleaning, he is extremely genuine about asking how I am or how my family is. Over the years I've had a lot of dental work done (from when I was younger) and some of the dentists or orthodontists I've dealt with have been less than stellar. Back when I was in college, I had been without dental insurance and when I finally got it, I happened to get an abscess a month later. Since I was looking for a new dentist, I called my insurance company and they gave me a list of doctors that approved my insurance - Dr. Kousoulis was one of them! I called and they allowed me to come in the same day and fixed my abscess! I needed a root canal and everything worked out! Since they were so accommodating and friendly, I figured I'd set him up to be my regular dentist so I did just that. Fast forward to 10 years later, and I've used him for all sorts of work. I've had a few root canals over the years, needed 2 crowns, and even did invisalign. They worked with me for the out-of-pocket costs and I was able to make monthly payments. I'm very happy with his service. His staff is always so friendly and I enjoy my dental visits every 6 months. My daughter is almost 4, and she will soon see him for her first dental appointment. :) read more

Can I give 0 stars? 1 star is being generous. I scheduled an appointment for a cleaning and after he looked at my teeth he insisted that I needed a $200 out of pocket procedure and was going to send me on my way. I was denied my cleaning which I rescheduled for the following week and was then called and told they would not do the cleaning until I had the procedure first which wasn't a necessary service. This place is clearly a money racket. I wish I had read the reviews first. It should have been a red flag that after telling him 3 times he couldn't remember the date of my last visit. I had a very bad experience with Dr. Kousoulis a while back. I cracked a rear molar that had filling in it by biting into something hard over a weekend. By Monday, I was in agony and chose All Smiles Dental because it was close to my house and they could see me. Dr. Kousoulis treated the tooth by doing a root canal and putting on a temporary crown while a permanent crown was on order. The temporary crown fell off a couple of times while I had it in. When the permanent crown arrived, it cost me well over $1,100. Within a couple of days, it fell off. Dr. Kousoulis put it back on, and it fell off again. Meanwhile, the tooth had started to hurt again. Sick of the repeated crown failures and now suspecting that Dr. Kousoulis was incompetent, I went to another, very highly regarded dentist. That dentist told me that the tooth was infected and would have to come out. Also, she said there was never enough tooth left to effectively put a crown on it and that it should never have been done. Dr. Kousoulis was very friendly, but as other reviewers have noted, he does give off a creepy, over-familiar vibe. read more

Do. Not. Go. Here. Seriously, this dentist does not know what he's doing. I spent so much money fixing his mistakes. He put in an implant, which costs thousands of dollars, and then it failed a few months later. I then had to pay to have the implant surgically removed by a dental surgeon. The surgeon told me that the implant Dr. K chose was by far too narrow and destined to fail from the get go. Please, save yourself time, money and heartache and do not go. He's fine for a general teeth cleaning, but if you need anything more than that, he is not competent! read more

It's best to just find ANOTHER dentist. I had the unfortunate experience of having a filling fall out. I made some calls, and came up with this dr. Also he was the only willing to see me on such short notice. I recently moved and could not get to my regular dentist. I thought things would be okay since they were willing to see me with at 11:30 the next day new patient and all. Well, I'm seen and he replaces my filling...unevenly. He finishes and I noticed the filling was not filled all the way!!! There was still a hole exposed. I tell him and he kind of rolled his eyes and went over it again. Uneven, uncomfortable application!! He assured me that it was "maximum strength" and it should hold up. I shook his hand and thanked him. For the first week, it felt like rough cement was on my tooth. Then it smoothed out, but it had jagged edges. Well it lasted for a total of about 3 weeks and friday evening at 5 while eating a soggy Hoagie sandwhich, the durn thing cracks again!! (Yes a soggy sandwhich undid the Dr.'s work) AND I had to go to a wedding the NEXT DAY!! AND i had to spend my Labor day weekend waiting for Tues. so I can get to another dentist to do what the Dr. SHOULD HAVE done. Luckily I found a product called Denteck, a temporary filling to tide me over until I can get to the dentist. Now that I think about it, I wonder if he did such a shoddy job because, it was the day before his vacation and I came right before his lunch. The secretary had warned me things were hectic because it was the day before his vacation. After I shook his hand and thanked him, He ran right out the door!. It makes me shudder to think that if I got such bad service on a small thing like a filling, I'm glad it wasn't somthing bigger or major like a root canal. I am very, very satisfied! Dr. K is a great Dentist, I have been going to himfor a while now and he's always been the friendliest and best dentist I've ever had. Takes wonderful care of my teeth. I'm not a local anymore, but whenever I stop by Philly, I always make a dentist appointment! I chipped about four of my teeth, (oh, longs story) and he fixed'em right up, perfectly! It's been a couple of years and I've never faced a problem with them! I had actually forgotten that they had ever been chipped in the first place until, the other day, I saw a picture of me before he fixed them! He's a very funny guy and really takes good care of his patients. I've never felt any pain or even slight discomfort when having my teeth cared for! At one point, I moved to the other side of the country and I had to find other dentists, and not a single one has been even close to as good as Dr. K. They made me bleed and feel pain or general discomfort, things that I didn't feel on a normal cleaning at his office! I have never had anything but top quality care from him, and I would recommend Dr. K to anyone looking for a dentist who's going to do his job and going to do it right. read more

I was in desperate need of a cleaning and having recently switched insurance due to a new job I went with the closest one to my house on my in-network provider list and it happened to be Dr. Kousoulis. A little background is that I enjoy going to the dentist. I have nearly perfect teeth, never had a cavity and love the feeling of freshly cleaned teeth. I had read some of the reviews before hand and figured it couldn't be bad because I was just in need of a cleaning. First I was asked for payment before I even sat in the chair, the doctor was hovering the whole time and made me quite uncomfortable and joked three times about how he needs to meet his denture quota for the month. The technician that took my x-rays took 18 of them which seemed like a ridiculous amount and messed up a few of them and had to do them again. They also were really uncomfortable, more so than usual. A different girl did my cleaning and obviously noticed that I was annoyed and uncomfortable. I tried to dial it down a bit but struggled in doing so. It definitely wasn't the most thorough cleaning I've ever had. The doctor also literally looked in my mouth for 10 seconds; I'm not exaggerating. They also make you sign a document that if you ever had to cancel an appointment less than 48 hours in advance you have to pay them $50!! The guy creeped me out and I won't be going back. read more

I read the reviews you guys wrote about Dr. Peter Kousoulis and I totally agree. I can't tell you how many problems i have had with him. He has been disrespectful of me and has totally messed up 6 lumineers i had put on, one of his crowns just came totally loose and he did a implant on me that possibly caused an infection. I have a lot of work pending with him and don't know what to do because i paid for it but i want someone else to do it. How did your situations end up? I am considering sueing him (uck, i HATE this idea) for new lumineers to be put on by someone else and the implant to be finished but i don't know what else to do to get out of this situation. The philosophy here is sell,sell,sell, not enough time given to cleanings, they'll squeeze you in anywhere even if it means getting a warm dental chair from the person right before you barely having time to leave the room, no probing numbers.
