    Dessert with dates and bread.

Friendly, airy space. The free tea was intensely spiced, and we loved it. The main courses were tasty, but they really needed salt. Thankfully, we were able to find a salt shaker. The brothy soup that came with our main dishes was quite flavorful. We got the dessert with bread and dates. I think the dates made it a bit claggy, but it did taste nice. I loved the black sesame, cashew, honey, and cream combination. The lamb was very tender and delicious, once salted, but the star of the show was the flatbread. Never underestimate a good bread! I will give this place another try sometime- I'm curious about the jute dish! I didn't know jute was edible.

This place is amazing. Beyond exceeded our expectations. We attempted to order two entrees but the waiter told us "trust me it's better to just pick one and share." Boy was he right. Less than $20 for us both to eat and share a multi course meal. We got a chicken dish with a giant piece of Yemeni bread, soup, salad, water and tea and extra to take. Do not sleep on this place!

Newly opened halal restaurant in Utica, exceptional food and good service. We stumbled to this restaurant by chance as we were traveling back and we have another 2 hours before we reached home and it was dinner time. We were very pleasantly surprised as we were served right away within minutes with hot free lamb soup and salad. We chose lamb haneeth, lamb fahsa and tandoori rashoosh flatbread as our main. The lamb were so tender, just the thought of it make me salivating. The portions are big, we have to pack home the leftovers. We also ordered Adeni tea and Royal Araisy smoothie. Everything was scrumptious. To top it all, the restaurant interior and the bathroom are clean and nicely decorated.

The food was good! The service was great! The ambience was cool! I had the falafel sandwich which I do recommend. My husband had the chicken curry and that was also very good and flavorful.

We arrived around 2:30pm on a Thursday, there was only one other group there. We were immediately greeted and our waiter was super friendly and chatty. The inside is pretty casual, and they played 2000s hits at a good volume. We started with a cup of Turkish coffee... I've never had Turkish coffee so maybe this is standard, but they did not offer cream or sugar. I don't usually like black coffee but it was surprisingly light, and the serving was pretty small so I actually quite enjoyed it. The owner later said it was the brand Utica coffee (which I love). We ordered the loaded fries, which came with taziki sauce, feta cheese, and tabouleh. Usually loaded fries feel very heavy and greasy, but these tasted very fresh. For the main dish, we ordered the Elias Gyro and the Layla Gyro. My pallet is usually more oriented towards lots of flavor and spice, so I found the Layla Gyro to be lighter than I would have liked. There wasn't as much sauce as I was expecting, but it was still very moist. I loved the pickled vegetables in it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the fries. The Elias Gyro was a lot more flavor heavy thanks to the garlic sauce, which was delicious. The meat in both gyros was cooked perfectly. Lastly, we had the baklava. Ive never had baklava before so I have nothing to compare it to, but oh my goodness it was so good. Overall, super positive experience. It's always such a treat to see the owner walking around interacting with customers, and I would definitely go again whenever I want something light and fresh.

We've been jonesing for a good shawarma for ages, so we went with beef shawarma over rice, and lamb chops over rice. We threw in some beef sambusas and eggplant salad. The only complaint we had was the wait time. We showed up when they told us to, but ended up waiting about 25 minutes in store for the food. The staff were really friendly, and had we not ordered to go, it would have been a comfortable place to dine in. The lamb meat was tender and delicious. Not a ton of seasoning, but probably because it didn't need it. I'm seeing more and more places doing red and white sauce like the Halal Guys in NYC, and I'm all about it. The red sauce is bold and spicy, the white sauce is cool and refreshing, like Greek yogurt. They go amazing together, and I'd eat them on anything. It included two heavily seasoned pieces of pita. I'm guessing they were seasoned specifically for this meal, because the fresh mint garnish added a huge layer to the lamb meat. If you order this, I recommend asking for a ton of extra pitas seasoned just like that, even if you have to pay more. The shawarma is one of our favorites. They're not stingy with the sauce, and there's a good mix of veggies and lettuce. Extra credit for Lebanese pickles, they went a long way. The beef was a little chewy, but packed a punch. It's coated in a thick brown sauce that tastes similar to A1, but the meat itself is packed with different tastes - most notably nutmeg. I'm guessing they season it with garam masala. We definitely would have ordered some pitas if we knew it didn't include them. The sambusas were packed full of ground beef. The texture was pretty tough, but once you get past the corners they're so packed it doesn't matter. It seemed to be mostly just ground beef with little or no seasoning, but it came with a pretty flavorful dip. Not sure if it has a name, but it's Greek yogurt whipped into a frothy mixture and mixed with mint. It had a super light and airy texture that didn't match our expectations for a yogurt based dip. If you leave it for too long, it'll fall back down into an unpleasantly thin liquid like whipped cream. Texture aside though, the taste is immaculate and turned a bland sambusa into a full spectrum of flavor. Finally, we have the eggplant salad. This was our first time trying it, so I have nothing to compare it with. We tried to Google it to get a feel for what we were ordering, and the images were all over the map. I'm not sure if there's a standard or if it's a free for all. What we got was a very creamy mix of eggplant, roasted red peppers and onions. I'm guessing a lot of the creaminess is tahini, which gives it a toasted/smokey taste. It was unlike anything we've ever had before, and we're absolutely hooked. I'll definitely make sure I have pitas for it next time, it's pretty intense eating something this creamy by itself. This has been one of our favorite take out meals in a while. I hope these guys are here to stay.

We were excited to finally give it a try, and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. This was easily the best Middle Eastern food we've had in Central New York. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the delicious house-made and warm pita. I ordered the beef and lamb gyro, and my wife had the beef kebabs. Both meals were outstanding, and we'll definitely be back for the food. Unfortunately, what keeps me from leaving a five-star review was the service we received from our server, Megan. I'm not sure whether it was because we arrived about an hour before closing or if she was simply having an off night, but from the beginning, the service felt rushed and inattentive, and it never improved. Just a couple of minutes after we were seated, she asked if we were ready to order. When we said we were still looking over the menu, she simply replied, "Okay," and walked away without asking if we had any questions or explaining the menu. My wife had to stop her as she was walking away to ask what drinks were available. A few minutes later, when she returned to take our order, she took our appetizer order and my wife's entrée order while looking around the dining room, said "thank you," and immediately started walking away without taking my order. I had to stop her so I could order my meal. During our meal, while I had my gyro in hand and was about to take another bite, I noticed her standing beside our table preparing the payment terminal. My wife looked at her, the server said "sorry" and then set down the payment terminal on the neighboring table instead. Once we were finished, she handed us the payment terminal and then asked whether we'd like dessert or coffee, after already presenting the check, which felt a bit odd. After I paid, I was in the middle of selecting how I wanted my receipt when she took the payment terminal away before I could finish, leaving me unable to receive an itemized receipt for our meal. The food was exceptional, and we'll absolutely be back because the kitchen deserves every bit of the praise it receives. That said, we'll be requesting a different server next time. The service we experienced tonight was disappointing and didn't match the quality of the food. On a positive note, there was another server working this evening who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I didn't catch her name, but she left a much better impression and reflected the kind of hospitality we were hoping to experience.

The restaurant is on Westcott Street and has been open literally longer than I've been alive. It very much has the vibe of a local spot that probably has regulars. Parking can be tight on Westcott itself but there is a small lot that they share with Mom's diner. Inside there's a bar and a second dining room with a stage where I think they do trivia. Lots of nice decor. It feels very homey. I heard they had a hummus shake and was intrigued to try it. They have a bunch of syrups they can mix in to flavor it. It was interesting. Very very syrupy sweet, and the taste is unusual at first but kinda grew on me. The real star was the savory food though. I went for a shrimp gyro. As a pescatarian, I was psyched to see this on the menu because most places around here only have falafel or meat, so it was nice to have another option. The shrimp were SO PLUMP and well seasoned. Very big size and quite full inside the pita. Felt that I was getting my money's worth. The vegetables were very fresh, pita soft, and sauce perfectly tangy. To be honest I'm still dreaming of this. I'd try more of their options. Also worth noting, when I called in my takeout order the hostess (/server?) was so incredibly courteous and friendly in a way that feels fairly rare anymore.
