Another great place! Was looking for something different for dinner tonight as a colleague and I…read morewere traveling in the area. We started the week out at a chain restaurant that was horrible, but has been very good since as we have hit up various local establishments. Chowder House did not disappoint either. Sort of odd for us that several of these local restaurants are secluded and in the middle of a residential area. Chowder House has a little strange entryway so when you walk in you have the feeling of not really knowing where you're going. You are greeted with a large fish tank though which is perfect. Once inside, the place opens up and there is plenty of seating. Very nice seafood Decore throughout the restaurant. Very friendly and knowledgeable server this evening. She named off several specials that were available, and didn't have to read a thing. Many of the items are made fresh daily so this is a high-quality restaurant. We both ordered the clam chowder which was really good. My colleague ordered the Pirates seafood platter which came with shrimp, fish, fries and coleslaw. I had one of the specials which was shrimp and squash ravioli. This was extremely good. I mentioned as we were leaving that if we had eaten here earlier in the week, I would definitely have eaten here again. Many items on the menu to select from, and I would love to try more however leaving town in the morning. The price is right as well. We were out the door with tip for around $50. Very good for seafood. If you enjoy seafood, I highly suggest and recommend this location.

After hearing rave reviews from multiple friends, we finally gave the Chowder House a try. We loved…read morethe nostalgic, 1970s charm of the interior, but the meal itself was highly disappointing due to a major grease issue. The Food: Fried Artichoke Hearts ($7.50): Not crispy at all and very greasy. The dipping sauce lacked seasoning and just tasted like heavy oil. Snow Crab Legs ($39): 4/5 stars. A little overcooked, but overall tasty and the highlight of the meal. Fried Fish Sandwich ($11) & Fries: The bread on the sandwich was delicious, but both the fish and the fries were incredibly greasy. This spot is always packed and clearly has a loyal following, so I don't know what happened during our visit. I usually adhere to a three-strike rule before judging a restaurant, but the food was heavy enough that we won't be returning.

Wow I am so excited to share this review! What an amazing experience we had at this restaurant…read more Welcomed with a friendly greeting & beautiful smile, Chase offered us a comfy booth. Then greeted by Kyle our waiter who was awesome! So classy, and so prompt, great service, suggestions, check backs, fantastic! Now the food! The bang bang cauliflower was delicious. Crispy outside, tasty seasoning, tender cauliflower. Outstanding salads with tender chicken on the Caesar salad and the shrimp was perfectly cooked on the Asian salad with crisp mixed lettuce and a sweet savory dressing. Kudos to the chef or chefs. One of the best restaurants! We will be back! Hoping to sit on the outdoor patio that I am sure is wonderful in a nice day. They also have a private room for special events. A fantastic drink menu is a bonus.

The food remains consistently excellent. The service continues to decline. Whether the place is…read morefull or empty, whether you have reservations for two or for 10 people, your table simply will not be ready. The average wait time is 20 minutes beyond your reservation time. Once you are finally seated, the wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly and will help you select your evening repast. And then you will wait again. Typically at least 20 minutes for your food. For your drinks, for your appetizers. It wasn't always like that. There is an internal inefficiency in their kitchen operations in recent months that results in delays. They seem to have enough staff. They just seem to have lost their rhythm. The ambience is lovely, the table settings fine. But there are little things that are slipping. As you can tell from my many reviews of this restaurant over the last several years, this beautiful establishment has achieved four stars. But today in June 2026, their beautiful cuisine is served on nice porcelain plates, but their coleslaw is served in a paper cup. The music is way too loud so you can't have a conversation at the table unless you scream. And they claim to not be allowed to turn the music down. They clearly cater to the 30 and under crowd. The 60s and older are not a priority for them. Wine is properly served, and the drinks are nicely mixed but to get a refill will take you a very long time. When the tables around you are empty, it begs the question as to what is the cause of the delay. My last two dinners here experienced these inexcusable delays. I hope they get the problem straightened out. Because this really is a destination restaurant.

There is a counter to the left as you come in, followed by an unattractive cooler case with signs on it. In between is a bakery case that is small but had a nice selection when I was there. I ordered a cup of decaf and a small chocolate almond cupcake, for a price of $8. I declined the plastic box and sat down with the cupcake in an upholstered chair opposite the counter. I thought my coffee would be right up but it took many minutes. I almost left. The cupcake was small but good (fluffy cake, sugary frosting). Then I noticed the sign that said everything was gluten and dairy-free. Surprise! When the coffee was ready, the cream was put in for me. I guess it was nondairy. The coffee was warm like a keurig makes. I had noticed Lunch menus in a wall pocket and Brunch menus behind the counter. So this place is actually full restaurant for people with gluten and dairy allergies. The lunches all seemed to cost ~$18 and seemed inventive. Fries were available as a specialty. There were a lot of tables in the long, cool, dark room. It seemed like a decent place to have an undisturbed meal while talking with friends.
