I have heard a lot of reasons not to give blood..."I don't have the time"..."I don't have good…read moreveins"..."don't like needles"...etc. The blood centers of south florida cancels all those reason. You can show up whenever you like or make an appointment, either way the most time I have ever seen it take for whole blood is a half hour. Donating whole blood is simple, one needle to a bag, bag fills you are gone. Normally once they stick you it is only 10 minutes. After you give whole blood it is about 2 months before you can give blood again. As far as veins and needles go, all these people do is find veins...and insert needles. All days veins and needles. I have spent weeks in the hosiptal due to my own stupidity when I was younger I was pretty much a pin cushin, I know what it feels like to get a bad stick; not once have I ever gotten a bad one from them. The people there are nice and helpful and they have locations all over south florida. I must say, it was an awesome experience. I finally met the Office Manager, Macarena. She was awesome before and still is. During my bad time there, Macarena went above and beyond to help me. I arrived there at exactly 9:50, and the security guard--a Black gentleman whose ID I unfortunately couldn't see--wouldn't let me in, despite knowing perfectly well that the center is open until 10:00 PM. If you're unhappy with the doctor, and request another, their policy is not to give you another. I went with my nephew and have two children diagnosed with childhood asthma. I've seen a pulmonologist and got actual education from them and it worked wonders for my child. She came in and told me that I had a loose tooth that needs to be replaced. After she told me that, she left. Nothing else. He'll, she didn't even ask me what I wanted to do. We just went right into my cleaning. When I was checking out, the receptionist ask me "So when do you want to schedule for your fillings?" Fillings?? We never discussed that I needed fillings. She only noticed that I had some older fillings but never told me that they needed to be replaced. On top of this, the receptionist told me "Hold on a second " about 15 times even though I never said a word when I was checking out. She couldn't figure out something on the computer and kept telling me hold on a second. Again, the hygienist is great but coming here isn't worth it anymore.
