First and foremost, the place is always spotless! The employees do a good job at keeping the place clean and sanitary. The bathrooms are always immaculate-I've never had a bad experience with the ladies room. Nothing worse then a filthy bathroom in a medical facility so that's a big one for me. Additionally, I love that they go above and beyond to decorate for holidays and season changes, especially in Florida where season change is often overlooked. It makes the place so welcoming! Next: the machines: they are all very well kept, clean and well maintained. I've seen some questionable machines in my donating days. Never have to worry here. Lastly and most importantly.... The staff!!! Every single staff member that works screening and the floor are just incredible. I imagine the staff that works behind the scenes are just as good though because the team work I've witnessed on the floor shows strength in working together and appears to be natural for everyone. Everyone makes you feel so comfortable and they make the time pass by so fast, making you laugh and just being entertaining overall. They get to know you on a first name basis and remember you when you come back. It's funny because some of them say they got the job because they liked the place so much... and I can see why. Coming here after work is my time to kick back and have a fun but relaxing time. I can't name all of the staff by name but I'd like to point out a couple of the staff that have been here for a bit and have personally been my donor assistant. Tyrone, he's so charismatic and funny. He's got this charming smile that can brighten anyones day. Alrick has a confidence and knowledge that will instill confidence in anyone who is new and nervous. You can immediately tell he is one of those "top of the class" type of students and the go to for those with less experience. Barbara: she has the sweetest heart! You can tell she is passionate about what she does and sincerely wants to make each donor comfortable, she expressed to me that she doesn't want anyone to feel any type discomfort because it hurts her feelings. Aneesah, she is such a bright young lady. She has the sweetest heart and is so friendly and always remembers everything you talk about. Dominique, the nurse that takes all the new donors: she is so genuine. Literally she reminds me of myself a little bit. She is friendly, honest, caring and very informative. I've heard so many wonderful things about her from the other staff as well, that she always jumps in anytime she can to help and makes her way by to check up on everyone any chance she gets. Jessica- she just does her thing. She's always laser focused and on top of everything. She's friendly and makes good conversation as well. I cannot forget to mention Leon! Leon is my buddy! He is in Paramedic school and was a fire fighter (which I was too) so we have a lot in common - we are ALWAYS catching up when I catch him in the screening booth or on the floor. That guy has a lot of ambition and is so motivated! He is also very funny and I look forward to seeing him every time I go! When he's working during my donation it's like the cherry on top. Want a good laugh? Go in and ask for the tall, dark and handsome guy named Leon!!!! There are so many other great employees that I unfortunately don't know their names- but they are all super amazing and if you want to save lives and have a relaxing hour to just chill out with some cool people- this is your spot!!! Once again I am grateful to be able to donate blood here. It's always needed. I arrange an…read moreappointment every 10 weeks to donate. The staff is a cohesive group- well qualified and very supportive of each other and their donors. I am greeted and welcomed to fill out a questionnaire to see if I qualify to give. They take my blood pressure, temperature and iron level. If all is good, I lay back on their couch and they very gently take my blood. It doesn't take long - at the most 15 minutes. They then give me a gift - this time it was a full gorgeous umbrella. Other times I've gotten long sleeve and short sleeve sweatshirts and T-shirts, cups, etc. I also qualify for a gift card from Amazon, which is what I choose each time I go. Each time you give, they give you a larger denomination. I get it within a few days and it goes right into my account. It's seamless but more importantly the blood is going to someone who desperately needs it. After a few days, I also get my numbers such as my cholesterol count in an email. They also tell me at a later time where my blood went to. They don't tell me the specific person, but to which facility. There is no better feeling than being able to give blood to someone who needs it.

I remembered when my husband needed a blood transfusion and someone donated or sold their blood. I also heard it's healthy to donate I'm not sure how true this is.

Only time you may have a slow day is when it's busy in there, since only so many people can be taken at a time. But if you go in on a slow time / day, the procedure is quick and you're out in about 45-50 min once you begin the procedure.
