Tis the season of showing love and O positive is a perfect gift. This is my first time as a whole blood donor and it was pleasant. It didn't physically hurt. There was slight discomfort but I believe most of the pain is Apprehension and Anxiety. Get rid of those A-holes, and it's all good. Staff professional and friendly. I forgot her name but she answered all my questions and then some. Gave me one of all the stickers she had for my girl, packed me an extra Coke, tucked a long sleeved tshirt into my bag and cheerfully said "I'll see you next month! You get a blanket in January." I'm a total sucker for a good blanket. Even better though, I'm a sucker for a good cause. Share your power, it won't cost you a single dime. I'm a pretty good with the whole process of giving blood, but there are always a few nerves before getting stuck. My phlebotomist, Von, was excellent! Von chatted me up like a long lost friend easing any lingering nerves I had. She checked for allergies, told me when to squeeze, when to rest, and when to look away, if I needed to. Made sure I was doing well at every step of the way. Overall the Bus I was on was clean and appeared to be well organized. I interacted with everyone working the bus and all of them was both professional and a pleasure to communicate with. Offering instructions when needed, answering any questions, as well as ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. They offered both a Drink and a snack. There was a long sleeved shirt giveaway for donating.

We entered Blood mobile number 16 and were greeted initially by Courtney who I have to say put you at ease immediately with her genuine smile and outstanding customer service skills. She's required to ask some invasive questions but she does so in such a way that you felt comfortable and did not feel you were being judged. She was supportive, friendly, and most helpful in explaining the process. She truly is patient centered. Next I had Brian as the phlebotomist; where to begin with him? His technique was superb and in fact every time I have to give blood for the doctor I always end up with large bruises for days on end because I have hard veins to stick. Though the stick in my left arm did produce a tad bit of blood it did not work because I started to clot. Brian skillfully moved to my right arm and did so efficiently and effortlessly. I have to say that his technique was by far the best I have ever experienced because at the end of the day I had no bruises. The right arm flowed like the Mississippi River and they got what they needed! Overall I was most impressed with Courtney and Brian; one blood should be very proud and honored to have such fine professionals help someone make a difference. It takes less than thirty minutes between blood pressure and heart rate check, answer health questionnaire, and blood donation. Donating plasma takes longer so it's one and done for me. I'll stick with whole blood donation going forward :) Last time I donated, I received a $10 gift card from Red Lobster, $10 e-gift card, and a tie die shirt. I've received gift cards from Walmart, Publix, and Red Robin depending on where the One Blood Mobile Bus is setup. Sometimes, they provide water and snacks too. Can't beat that! All procedures were performed by assistants. He hasn't been thrilled with the care he has received, but he decided to finish his treatment, rather than change to another practice at this point. He had a 4 pm appointment yesterday and when he arrived, he was told by the receptionist that his doctor had moved to another office, down the hall. This receptionist was rude and nasty and made it seem that he should have known not to come to HER office to bother her. So he went to the new location and told the receptionist there what had just happened. This lady was very nice and apologetic and explained that the doctor had changed offices, the day before, and they were remiss in sending the patients this change of location for their upcoming appointments. So my husband sat down and waited and waited and eventually was led to an exam room where he waited some more. He was there for a full hour and no one even stuck their head in the door to check on him or to apologize for the wait. After an hour, my husband got up, got dressed and walked out of the exam room, past the receptionist, and out the door. No one said one word to him. It was close to a half hour later when he received a phone call from someone in a call center, not even someone who was in the office, and she was calling to reschedule his appointment. She had NO idea that anything had happened or that he had even just been in the office waiting to be seen. She was calling to set up an appointment. My husband then told this whole story and said that he wanted a call from the office manager AND he expected the charge that they made to his credit card for the visit (yes, they charge you BEFORE your visit) to be refunded! He has yet to receive that call from the office manager nor have we received the refund! If we could give NO stars, we would!

Friday we were going to go to the beach, but he opted to spin, then hit his head. After a call and picture sent to a teladoc, we were instructed to call our pediatrician to see if they do stitches (newsflash, they don't). So we had two options, either take him to an oncall place or we could go to the ER. We wound up going to the Wolfson's ER near the Town Center. I checked on the website on the way down there that there was only a six minute wait. Surely, that wasn't the case, because when arrived, the entire parking lot was jam packed. We put on our masks, walked in, where a woman greeted us in a mask and took our temperatures. She asked what we were here for and we told her most likely stitches. I went to the front desk and checked in. Everything was done electronically on an ipad, but the woman at the desk was nice and disinfected the tablet prior to me using it. She said they were only allowing one parent per child, we could wait in the waiting room, but once they called us back, one of us would have to go out to the car or stand outside. We waited no more than two minutes to be called back. It was game time. My sweet baby boy had a boo boo and I wanted to be the one to comfort him. Guess what? When we asked who he wanted to go back with him, he said daddy. Insert broken heart here. I wound up tearing up, telling him to be brave, and to call me if he needed anything. Forty-five minutes later he was patched up, with four stitches, a toy the nurse gave him, and a promise from daddy that he'd get a dinosaur toy.
