We experienced toilet overflowing problem on second floor and had water come down from first floor ceiling. Even though we cleaned up very quickly but still a little water mark stayed on the wall. Our toilet on 2nd floor had water leak accident. Water started to drip down the pantry ceiling through the led light canister. During this service call for estimate he went through a couple of options, one of which included fixing the thing all by ourselves using the rented air movers. I don't usually write reviews, but One Call Services deserves one. If I could give 10 stars, I would. We have a large house and have been having ceiling leaks. The leaks are not huge but there multiple of them and needs fixing at some point. Recently I learnt about the health issues mold caused to some of the families I know and I started freaking out about the moist surfaces in the ceiling. My water filter tubing failed on me and started spewing water. My wife caught it pretty quickly, but it had time to pool under the sink 1 inch deep (bursted through when I opened the under sink doors). I quickly moped all the water and started putting airflow. However, I was worried that water leaked through the cabinet and it would cause mold. So I called "one call" and they answered quickly and sent someone to investigate. They looked under the sink cabinet with a thin camera and did not find water pooling / damage. I never leave reviews on Yelp, but Marco's honesty and information makes this review worth it. I called Marco after another company suggested a vapor barrier for our crawl space. I was a bit skeptical because normally this is suggested if there is a lot of moisture in the crawl space or mold, neither of which we had evidence for. I wanted to get a mold inspection to confirm if what they were saying was actually needed (this job they were suggesting is thousands of dollars). When I called Marco asking for an inspection and explaining the situation he was EXTREMELY honest and informative. He explained the various reasons someone would install this and asked if they took any picture evidence. Not only that, he gave me so much information on mold in the crawl space and water damage, as well as how he would solve this issue if it was his own home. Based on our conversation he concluded that it was likely that the vapor barrier was unneeded and that we probably do not have mold. He offered to do an inspection, but said it was likely unneeded. Furthermore, the inspection should wait until the rain occurs so that we are not wasting our money on a mold inspection when there is no water to lead to mold. I have spoken to many different companies regarding housing issues (insulation, roofing etc.) and Marco is hands down the most transparent. As we were fixing the roof, Marco came for a free inspection. Very polite and professional. He reviewed the damage, measured moisture levels, and said it was wet just locally and the water didn't go far. Although it was significantly more expensive we decided to do the thorough fix where they take out the dry wall because we noticed it was affecting our allergies. We had to have the air purifier on 24/7 or we'd sneeze and have sore throats. We had mold issue in our 1st floor bathroom due to toilet leak. Since this was black water damage I immediately yelped on the mold remediation service providers and called three highly rated ones. Appreciate that they all responded quickly. Total I took 3 quotes for the remediation service and one of them was One Call Services. Price-wise One Call Services was in the middle, but I chose them because -- 1. Their estimate was very well written indicating each and every task they were going to do in the whole remediation process. That was not the case with the other two providers, they had loose ends in their proposal. 2. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed due to this issue. I quickly googled up, educated myself and learned a lot. Needless to say this additional knowledge made me more inquisitive about which service provider was going to do what in the service and what was involved in each and every line item in their estimate. Wendy from One Call services did a great job at responding to all of my questions. We went back-n-forth on emails, texts, and phone calls. And I felt much satisfied at the end of all Q&As. The other service providers did not gave me that sort of confidence. One of them even got upset due to my questions! After hiring One Call services: The job was done with high professionalism from start to finish . Jorge did a great job in working through all the steps of remediation viz. protecting the house floor, preparing a containment area, scraping the affected area, HEPA vacuuming it, applying anti-microbial solution, dehumidifying the place, scrubbing the air and so on. I was charged for the dehumidifier for 4 days, but the place took almost double the time to fully become dry. They did not take a dime additional for this, even though their dehumidifier and air scrubber ran for many additional days. Jorge kept visiting the place while it was drying, and kept checking the moisture in the floor. When I asked him I wanted to see the reading, he even showed it to me on the 2nd last day when the floor was nearly dried but there were a couple of wet spots. On the very last day it was great to see the moisture meter showing normal floor condition :-). He applied the anti-mold paint at that time and wound up with everything. They maintained good communication during the process. Before and after the day's work they kept me notified when the technician was leaving, when the work was done, if I had any concern, and so on. Reached out to One Call Services by chance I was in a bind to remediate mold that had formed on our drywall from a recent month-long water leak. With a newborn baby, the pervasive mildew smell freaked us out and we wanted the mold removed ASAP. I Inquired with One Call via Yelp to see if they were able to address my mold situation and within minutes Marco responded with assurance that this is their specialty. Marco put us in contact with their technician Jaime and it wasn't long before we had scheduled a next-day visit to further assess damages. When Jaime arrived the next day, he was very friendly and professional and detailed exactly what he was looking for in his preliminary inspection. He underscored the fact that, though at first glance the damage appeared isolated to the material, the true damage will be revealed when they opened up the wall. The next day, Jaime provided a line-item quote via email, detailing precisely what tasks will be done and the cost per task. Though I do not have a frame of reference for what services like this cost, what I was quoted seemed extremely fair. Long story short, Jaime and his crew quarantined the area, removed the affected dry wall, cleaned and disinfected the studs, etc..., set up a dehumidifier, and essentially removed all traces of mold. Very pleased with my experience. I knew nothing about mold remediation. These folks came out, did an inspection for free. I decided to have them do the remediation, and their initial estimate actually came down in price after discovering that there was less of a problem than the estimate accounted for. They took from Tuesday - Friday to complete everything, and my tenants were able to continue living at the house while this was happening. I had a very poor experience with this company. My water heater had leaked in the garage which affected the walls of the garage as well as the adjoining bedroom. The regional manager came over for an estimate. His estimate exceeded our budget so I tried to lower the cost by asking him to remove some of the services like haul away of debris and reduce the amount of equipment (like the number of fans). Later the owner of the company called me and recommended not to reduce any equipment and gave me a special discount to accommodate me within my budget of $900 (which was significantly lower than the estimate). Now when the regional manager came back to start the work he seemed uninterested and annoyed. He was impolite, kept mentioning that he needed to go to another jobsite as if this jobsite was just a waste of his time, and did not make any recommendation for what should and should not be done. While working on the bedroom walls he asked me if I wanted the walls cut or just drilled. I asked him for his recommendation and he just said that I needed to decide. Having no experience with water damage, I asked him to cut. He cut (4 inches from bottom) the entire length of 2 walls and then removed the insulation behind those walls. Later, I called 3 contractors to get estimates for putting the walls back. All of them said that so much wall should not have been cut as 90% of the insulation that came out was dry. They all said that the wall should have been cut piecemeal starting from the source of leak until dry insulation was found. It makes sense and I expect any water damage expert to be aware of this method. When the regional manager came back to collect the payment, he was impolite again. I am afraid I cannot recommend this company to anyone unless it properly trains its employees. Price negotiation should never be a reason for mistreating a customer. read more
