Excellent service and fairly quick for the food to arrive. Excellent mushroom truffle burger and the onion rings had perfect batter and crisp. Fries were good as well. Buffalo chicken sandwich was great too. Buffalo sauce had the right amount of spice. Went after hockey game super close the rink and not crowded. The decor was 70s and fun to look at! read more

While visiting family in Mohawk, NY our grandson asked us to take him to lunch. It was suggested to go to Rick Famous in Utica. I am gluten free and usually order a burger bun-less or lettuce wrapped, if able. This gem of place has gluten free buns and they are delicious and don't fall apart in your hand. Ordered the truffle burger, fried sweet potatoes, truffle ketchup, and a bottle of root beer. As for the food quality and taste, the burger was a big hit! The patty was juicy and the buns were nice and soft. The fries were also good but, in the end, I would not go back for these. The service was friendly and professional. Care was taken into making sure my sure was satisfied, even the guys running the grill in the back stay. We don't have anything to say about the ambience since we did not sit down for this meal. WOW!!! We found this place on a whim during vacation, and just WOW! The place is super cool, everyone is so friendly and so helpful, it is super welcoming. I loved the vibe of the restaurant! Rick's Famous is a blast from the past with it's 1970's vibe. Decor makes you feel like you walked into a childhood bedroom complete Farrah Fawcett posters, 8 track player, and TV which loops 70's shows and commercials. Chairs looked like chairs from my junior high cafeteria. Restaurant is definitely true to its theme. We go frequently and really enjoy their chicken tenders and tender sandwich. Tenders are juicy and breading is light and airy which makes them so tasty. Still haven't tried their Burgers or Hot Dogs which each time I go I swear I am going to order something other than chicken but I don't. This restaurant is owned by the same group that owns Ocean Blue and Nostro. Which means they also serve butter cake which is awesome. Ocean Blue serves cake with fresh strawberries, vanilla ice cream, mint, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. You get just the cake at Rick's but that is OK as I take it home and add all the extras. Stopped by Ricks today on the recommended of my barber. The location is a little off the beaten path, but I soon found out it was well worth it. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is very clean and accommodating, with a cool 70's/80's retro vibe. I ordered the BBQ burger double patty with crinkle cut fries and a fountain drink. The burger was top notch, with a good helping of BBQ pork on top of a butter toasted bun. The only complaint I have, which is minor, is the fries were slightly over salted. For less than twenty dollars, I left full and happy, with a new favorite burger place when I'm in Utica! read more

Solid 5 I'm not sure why I've neglected to review Rick's as we have been eating here almost weekly for a bit! The burgers don't disappoint but the chicken has turned out to be our go to. A few times the wait has been a little longer than optimal and once the chicken was a little over done but those couple of things don't warrant a drop in score to us bc the chicken strips are consistently the best in the area.
