Haven't been in a while but this is one of my favorites to grab some light flaky chicken tenders from. While they also serve hot dogs and hamburgers the chicken tenders and chicken sandwich by far are the best. Chicken is tender and juicy which elevates this entree to the next level. Restaurant the minute you walk in reminds me of my high school years complete with school cafeteria chairs, pictures of Charlie's Angels on the wall, a tv with looped shows from the 70's and 80's... Brings back a lot of nostalgic memories walking in. Only compliant is that serving sizes have gotten smaller but some really great food . Highly recommend this trip down memory lane read more

Rick's Famous Burger was such a great experience! The music was great, and the service was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The food was delicious . I ordered the double cheeseburger, and it was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The onion rings were nicely cooked and crispy, and the Oreo shake was so good, even though I didn't get a picture of it. The decor was really nice too, with a fun old-school vibe. Excellent service and fairly quick for the food to arrive. Excellent mushroom truffle burger and the onion rings had perfect batter and crisp. Fries were good as well. Buffalo chicken sandwich was great too. Buffalo sauce had the right amount of spice. Went after hockey game super close the rink and not crowded. The decor was 70s and fun to look at! read more

While visiting family in Mohawk, NY our grandson asked us to take him to lunch. It was suggested to go to Rick Famous in Utica. I am gluten free and usually order a burger bun-less or lettuce wrapped, if able. This gem of place has gluten free buns and they are delicious and don't fall apart in your hand. Their hamburgers are really really good, but their GF buns are fabulous!! I definitely see a repeat visit next summer when we are visiting the grandkids. Go Rick's Famous!!!!! read more

Food is pretty good. Fries are usually undercooked. The staff is excellent. The worst problem is the parking lot. Always a struggle to find a spot. They lost my business several times because I couldn't find a spot to park. Parking lot needs to be paved and painted. read more

We had been meaning to come to this place for a long time. We heard about the food being good so finally we had a chance. Ordered the truffle burger, fried sweet potatoes, truffle ketchup, and a bottle of root beer. As for the food quality and taste, the burger was a big hit! The patty was juicy and the buns were nice and soft. The fries were also good but, in the end, I would not go back for these. The service was friendly and professional. Care was taken into making sure my sure was satisfied, even the guys running the grill in the back stay. We don't have anything to say about the ambience since we did not sit down for this meal. In summary, nice place to go to for that one burger you've been craving. Aside from that, the cost was not conducive for regular visits. read more

WOW!!! We found this place on a whim during vacation, and just WOW! The place is super cool, everyone is so friendly and so helpful, it is super welcoming. I loved the vibe of the restaurant! Its also super clean! The food is INCREDIBLE! I wish i could have one of everything! Pistachio milk shake is INSANELY GOOD! The burgers are made with love! And the rick sauce? To die for! Nice spot to grab some quick bites at a very decent price. Placed an order for 4 people and it was complete within 10min- unheard of. The burgers, chicken sandwiches, fried pickles and fries were delicious and the portion size is great. The hand spun Oreo shake is thick, creamy and scrumptious. Presentation was also a 10/10. He has assembled a highly motivated team amidst boom boxes, cassette tapes and juke boxes and the whole setup just works--East Utica At its best. Stopped by Ricks today on the recommended of my barber. The location is a little off the beaten path, but I soon found out it was well worth it. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is very clean and accommodating, with a cool 70's/80's retro vibe. I ordered the BBQ burger double patty with crinkle cut fries and a fountain drink. The burger was top notch, with a good helping of BBQ pork on top of a butter toasted bun. The only complaint I have, which is minor, is the fries were slightly over salted. For less than twenty dollars, I left full and happy, with a new favorite burger place when I'm in Utica! read more

Solid 5 I'm not sure why I've neglected to review Rick's as we have been eating here almost weekly for a bit! The burgers don't disappoint but the chicken has turned out to be our go to. A few times the wait has been a little longer than optimal and once the chicken was a little over done but those couple of things don't warrant a drop in score to us bc the chicken strips are consistently the best in the area. (We were even in another city one day and both said we wished there was a Rick's close ) The ricks sauce is delish, shakes are great & the butter cake is danger zone! read more

Excellent "fast food" option. Family of 3, we had a kids meal, slurpee, shake, burger & chicken sandwich for $35. I thought the price was very reasonable for the quality of the food we got. Sometimes people are just excited for a new eatery and will give it glowing reviews just based on its hype. Tried this place for the first time today and WOW! I am impressed. I knew going into this that the prices were likely indicative of higher quality and it delivered. Even the napkins are remarkable! The double cheeseburger was excellent and the fries were probably the best I've had. This beats that quintuplet of dudes up in North Utica no doubt. Really good. Cool spot. Self serve kiosk could use a lil work. There was no option for no Rick sauce. Just a no sauce button. I wanted the ketchup and mustard. I'll just go to the counter next time. So tired of frozen bland burger patties, this place does it right! Had the double cheeseburger (with bacon) and it was great! Patties are smashed on the grill and you get a great crunchy maillard effect that adds a lot to the flavor. Pistachio milk shake was a treat as well. read more
